Chapter 296: An Accident (2)
“Someone’s drained the fuel?” Ye Tianxin repeated, surprised. “It’s not that there wasn’t enough fuel in there in the first place, but that someone had done it on purpose!”
“I checked the dial gauge. There was not enough fuel in the generator in the first place, but, yes, someone had drained it. I think they probably hope that we will fight among ourselves.”
Ye Tianxin smiled at Ji Nuan’s words. The way men think was really weird.
This was a classic example of the way men think.
For men, when women get together, issues would arise that would lead to them fighting among themselves.
What the men did not know was that trouble would only arise when people did not trust each other. That’s not the case with Ye Tianxin and the girls.
It was a pity that with her around, she was going to disappoint them.
“Ji Nuan, there might be a thunderstorm tonight. The windows in our dormitory seem to be broken. Go and take a look at them and see if they can be fixed before the wind and rain come.”
Ji Nuan nodded. She knew that if they did not fix the windows immediately, their beds and other stuff would be soaking.
Then, all of them would have nowhere to stay for the night.
“Alright. I shall take off first then.”
Ji Nuan went off to fix the windows.
Meanwhile, Ye Tianxin went downstairs and ran to the beach. The sand on the beach was fine and white.
The other four were playing on the beach barefooted.
“Ye Tianxin, you don’t look very good. Did something happen?”
“It’s about to rain. We have to pick up some dried branches and get food before it rains.”
The sky gradually darkened.
The other four also realized how important it was to gather everything they needed before the rain came.
“Then Xiao Mengmeng and I will go and look for dried branches,” Yao Qinghan volunteered. Xiao Mengmeng did not object.
If they did not pick up enough dried branches before the rain came, the firewood would become drenched and would not catch fire easily.
Furthermore, they did not have enough fuel now, and the generator could not operate as normal. If they needed light at night, they would need to make a fire.
There were a lot of resources by the sea. Many small fish and prawns were abundant in the area. Ye Tianxin, Wei Weiwei, and Mu Yuluo found some shellfish, small fish, and prawns. They put these in a little basket that Ji Nuan had woven.
The wind was getting stronger.
It was whistling.
They could barely stand without getting out of balance.
Ye Tianxin and the others returned to the cell, holding on to each other for support. There were not a lot of dried twigs in the cell, but it should be enough for the night.
“Why aren’t Yao Qinghan and Xiao Mengmeng back yet?”
It was getting darker. Wei Weiwei was waiting at the door of the cell anxiously. The two of them had to return to the cell before nightfall. Otherwise, how would they be able to find their way without any light source in the dark?
The six of them had become one unit when they arrived on this long-abandoned island. Since they had come as six people, they had to leave as six as well.
“Let’s split up and look for them. Remember not to wander too far.”
Ye Tianxin was the first to walk out of the cell. Snakes would often appear in places with tall grasses and weeds.
To the creatures on the island, the six of them were intruders, perhaps also unwelcome.
“Yao Qinghan! Xiao Mengmeng!”
“Yao Qinghan! Xiao Mengmeng!”
Ye Tianxin saw Xiao Mengmeng carrying Yao Qinghan on her back from afar. Everyone gathered around the two.
“Yao Qinghan, what happened to you?”
“Yao Qinghan found some wild fruit on a tree, and she climbed up to pick them,” Xiao Mengmeng explained. “However, she lost her balance and fell. Her ankle is injured, but I have already dealt with it. There aren’t any other issues.”
