Chapter IBMLS Ch.29 Newly Wed (3)

The soldier’s expression suddenly became serious. He gave Mu Mingtang a cold look and said, “This humble servant would advise the princess to be diligent. The Prince of Qiyang must consume three medicated meals a day; otherwise he will become mad. The only thing that can be done then would be to wait for him to fall unconscious again from exhaustion. If that happens, the princess would be the first person to be injured. This servant believes the princess should not take this risk.”

After saying this, he paused and continued in a selfless manner, “When the meals were delivered this morning, the prince and princess were still asleep. As it is improper for this humble servant to disrupt your slumber, this humble servant could only dispose of the meals. The medicine from this morning was thus added to this meal. It is very valuable, so the princess should go back to feed the Prince of Qiyang as soon as possible. “

He sure had a lot to say about this one, small bowl of congee.

“Oh? What was added to the congee? It seems quite miraculous,” she drawled.

The soldier bowed his head and stopped looking at Mu Mingtang. “It is a secret recipe from the imperial physicians. This humble servant does not know.”

There were more questions in her mind, but it was obvious that he wasn’t going to answer them. She sighed and turned to enter the room again. Before she shut the door, however, she suddenly turned around and asked, “Medicine can turn into poison if consumed carelessly. I’m not sick, so there’s no medicine in my food, right?”

Hearing her question, the soldier slowly lowered his guard. “Rest assured, princess. The Prince of Qiyang’s food is prepared separately from yours.”

“That’s good.” Mu Mingtang nodded, turned back around, and smiled at him before closing the door.

She looked just like her name; her eyebrows were elegantly arched, her apricot eyes curved, and her red lips delicately sculpted. She was beautiful, like the spring. When she looked back and smiled, the soldier felt as though he had witnessed the melting of snow and ice in the spring, and the blossoming of thousands of flowers.

The bodyguard knew that the woman was the object of guard, but he still didn’t hold it. He was slightly dazzled. It was this distraction that Mu Mingtang had closed another door and disappeared behind the expensive purple carved wooden door.

The chief bodyguard immediately withdrew his mind and was on guard. Let’s not say that she is the princess of Qiyang, just because she is the Lord’s woman, it’s not what other men can see.

After going back inside, Mu Mingtang hid behind the door and smelled the congee again. The smell seemed to be getting stronger.

It turned out that there was double the amount of herbs in here! No wonder she could smell it.

Mu Mingtang had had a special “ability” since she was young, although it seemed like nothing useful when she described it. However, she would always find something valuable when she went out on the streets, if two stones were placed in front of her, she could inexplicably tell which one was worth more.

Her parents had once joked that she was born with the nose of a treasure rat. She didn’t know if this was true or not, but she did know that her intuition had always been excellent. Without it, she would’ve died numerous times during her time as a refugee.

This same intuition was telling her that there was something wrong with this bowl of congee, so it was without hesitation that she poured it into the flowerpot by the window. Fortunately, it was only the two of them in the Yulin Pavilion. She made up her mind to divide her meal between them and feed him her bowl of congee instead. Although it wasn’t not much, it was still better than giving him the bowl of congee that had something unknown mixed into it.

However, when she tried to feed Xie Xuanchen the congee, he seemed to have sensed that something was wrong and refused to open his mouth.

She made several attempts and wasted a lot of congee in the process, leaving her with no choice but to wipe his mouth and reassure him, “Don’t worry, Your Highness, I’m probably the only person left in this world who wishes for you to recover and live a long, healthy life. If anything were to happen to you, I would be the first to die, so I would never hurt you.”

Mu Mingtang felt ridiculous for talking to a comatose person who couldn’t hear her, but she noticed that his mouth was actually relaxing! Was it a coincidence? She wasn’t sure, but she dismissed it and happily fed him the congee.

After the bowl of congee was finished, he slumped down as though all of his energy had been exhausted and fell into a deep slumber.
