Chapter 351

After Mu Mingtang ran to Xie Xuanchen’s side, she smiled and started to blush slightly. She glanced back quickly and saw Ye Luyan, Xie Xuanji and several others walking towards the sidelines one after another. She also noted that the expressions of the Beirong crowd weren’t that elated.

Mu Mingtang patted Xie Xuanchen’s arm lightly and said angrily, “They’re here to negotiate for peace, why didn’t you give in a little?”

“I did give in,” Xie Xuanchen said in a very offended tone as if he was wronged, “I gave in several times, but they didn’t catch the ball.”

Xie Xuanji was startled when he heard such a sentence upon approaching the couple.

Mu Mingtang let out a chuckle and her eyes shimmered like stars, “Aww, looks like I misunderstood you; so it’s their fault, is it not?”

“Of course it is,” Xie Xuanchen said confidently, “I already told them that I wasn’t going to fight since it would end up with me bullying them. They aren’t that great, but they insisted on having me play. I gave them leeway, but they couldn’t catch the ball; but if I didn’t let them win, it seemed like I wasn’t thinking about their reputation. Honestly, it’s as if the world is making me look like I’m trying to ruin negotiations on purpose. Seeing that it was 12-0, I had no other choice than to leave the field. If they couldn’t even win under those conditions, then there was nothing that could save Beirong’s team.”

Mu Mingtang couldn’t help laughing as she patted him on the arm, “You call that giving leeway? If you give in like this, they will get even more angry. I’m afraid you’ve really destroyed the diplomatic relations between the two countries.”

Xie Xuanchen’s expression was very innocent and pure. At any rate, he tried his best and he gave the allies a point since it wasn’t that visually pleasing to see a 0 on the scoreboard. Xie Xuanji, who stood aside, watched Mu Mingtang and Xie Xuanchen chatting and joking around. She had rushed to Xie Xuanchen’s side and patted his arm reproachfully whilst joking. Every single movement of hers was in no way forced as it was natural.

Words could lie, but the body couldn’t— physical reactions couldn’t lie.

Xie Xuanji didn’t believe it when Mu Mingtang first told him that he didn’t like him, assuming that she was just pretending. Later, Mu Mingtang said that she had never loved him before and that from start to finish, the person whom she really wanted to marry was Xie Xuanchen.

Xie Xuanji didn’t want to believe it either.

But now, there was nothing that he could do other than to believe her words.

Xie Xuanji felt a sense of powerlessness that hasn’t surfaced in a long while. Everyone would like Xie Xuanchen more— parents, teachers, friends, women. No matter how they praised Xie Xuanji initially, after seeing Xie Xuanchen, soon, everyone would prefer Xie Xuanchen.

Even God was the same.
