Chapter 360

Mu Mingtang felt relieved when she heard that question. She shook her head and smiled softly, “No.”

She had no regrets— the person she married was the person she liked.

The Emperor asked the several Princes to accompany Ye Luyan to visit the garden. There were lush and bustling hibiscus bushes all over and it was a sight to behold. When they got closer, they found a gazebo behind the hibiscus bush and there seemed to be people seated inside.

Before the men had the time to voice their presence, they heard Mu Mingtang’s voice, “Lady Xiao probably misunderstood the prince…”

The men then turned their heads and glanced at Xie Xuanchen as everyone stopped talking at the same time.

Eavesdrop

Being able to hear the chatter of the Princesses at the gazebo was quite attractive to the few men who were present. Xie Xuanchen saw that apart from Ye Luyan and Xie Xuanji, the rest were the two little Princes who were far from adulthood. They were still half-grown children, so they wouldn’t know much about others’ personal affairs. The remaining two men that remained at the rear of the team had their families tagging along further down the walkway, which wasn’t considered an offence.

Xie Xuanchen didn’t announce their arrival nor made a sound for the women to stop. Instead, the group of men let them continue.

Plus, Xie Xuanchen really wanted to know what Mu Mingtang would say about him in private.

The men listened to Mu Mingtang defending Xie Xuanchen with their own ears. He himself felt goosebumps when he heard the description of him being ‘gentle and kind’.

Later, Xiao Siyi started to make some shocking declarations and although Ye Luyan was a little embarrassed, he was still stable. Xiao Siyi was his fiancé, so according to her, she would only get engaged to a man if she liked him. To have a woman admitting that she actually liked the man in her life was something that all men would undoubtedly be proud of.

Xie Xuanchen was originally listening in on someone else’s drama, but he never expected that the fire would be burning himself that quickly.

Xiao Siyi asked Mu Mingtang if she had any regrets. In other words, the girl asked if she regretted liking her husband or perhaps regretted the fact that she wasn’t able to marry her first love etc.

Xie Xuanchen was standing behind, so he couldn’t see Mu Mingtang’s expression all that clearly, making him become unconsciously nervous. The worst part was that Mu Mingtang didn’t give a reply immediately, which made Xie Xuanchen’s heartbeat palpitate.

But then, he heard a smile in her voice that was filled with nostalgia as she answered, “No.”

Xie Xuanchen’s mood was fluctuating up and down, not knowing what sort of expression he should make. Xiao Siyi, however, was relentless and still rambled her questions without thought, “What are you not regretting? Is it because your husband happens to be the type that you like or do you not regret being unable to marry your first love?”

Mu Mingtang was embarrassed by the question as Xiao Siyi persisted with her queries several times. She couldn’t help it as she answered, “Neither of those.”

When everyone behind the tree heard this, they all turned to look at Xie Xuanchen. He could hardly control his facial expressions as he used all his strength to keep his face sullen. Ye Luyan raised his eyebrows at him as well, his gaze full of manliness.

Mu Mingtang was so shaken by Xiao Siyi that she could only give one answer— she really had no regrets. When she was first adopted by the Jiang family, she knew that instead of Jiang Mingwei, she would marry Xie Xuanji. She didn’t even know what he looked like at that time, but she nodded in agreement.
