Chapter 482: Parting Ways

The congregation lasted for three hourglasses.

As the tens of millions of surrounding Abyssal Demons became restless, the congregation ended with Grimm flying out from the peak of Mount Zylon among the packed Abyssal Demons. Little Myna was perched on his shoulder. Solumn, Wicky, Claudia, and Millie witnessed the scene of the dispersion.

Regrettably, none of them had a glimpse of the true face of the other Great Sorcerers when the congregation ended.

“So, what’s our next step?”

Millie, concerned, was the first to ask.

In the distance, massive legions of Abyssal Demons covered both the sky and the ground. In their center, under the will of the Demon-Hunter Sorcerers, the creatures flew into different directions.

Grimm, under the protection of the Abyssal Demons from all directions, led Solumn, Wicky, Millie, and Claudia in a different direction away from Mount Zylon.

Within the crowd of Abyssal Demons, Grimm’s pair of eyes beneath the Mask of Truth was brimming with a contemplating light.

“The initial plan to lay siege on the First Acraepoid Kingdom is expected to be six years later. When the time comes, the seven Abyssal Summoners shall lead the Abyssal Demons in a forceful invasion followed by the sorcerer legions. And now, Black Isotta has just assigned a new mission. My mission is to stay by the side of a World Lord, the King of Snowthreads!”

“Huh?”

“King of Snowthreads! The World Lord of the Burrow World that was dismembered and sealed in different locations?”

The two Sorceresses, Millie and Claudia, were surprised by Black Isotta’s arrangement. Solumn and Wicky, too, felt very uncomfortable.

A low-level being would never wish to be near a high-level being. It was a basic distinction when it came to the difference between the levels of two beings, be it in strength or intelligence.

This was especially the case when the World Lord was from a foreign world.

“We’ve got no choice. Black Isotta personally assigned this mission to me, I will have to accompany this World Lord for a few years. Also… as a World Lord that has been rescued by the Sorcerers World, being by its side may not be a bad thing after all. If you are not interested you may wait in the fortress, we’ll meet again in six years.”

After some hesitation, only Millie chose to stay.

Claudia, too, wanted to stay. But with a foreign World Lord around Grimm, she thought that she would not be able to control her own fate. She would be putting her life in danger.

Hence, Claudia decided to abandon her initial wish. Solumn and Wicky probably shared the same reason as well.

The three of them teamed up and flew into the distance after leaving the encircling abyssal minions. Moments later, they vanished into the horizon.

Little Myna smiled at Millie. “Caw caw, the King of Snowthreads is absolutely mystical when it comes to ice energy spells. You should observe it with Grimm later. If you are able to get some kind of epiphany after studying the king for a while, it could be worth almost centuries of research.”

Grimm pulled out a tiny snowthread worm that was merely the size of a thumb.

The body of a snake; the brain capacity of a duck. It had two sharp claws and felt cold to the touch on Grimm’s palm. It wriggled around like a larva, its body was squirming. Grimm could almost feel an itch as it crawled on his palm.

After making sure of the direction, Grimm ordered his abyssal minions to detach from the main group.

Grimm changed his mount to a golden-colored flying Abyssal Demon with a long mouth. Although the Giant Abyssal Demon was much weaker than his previous one, it was a Level-3 creature nonetheless. Its fully-stretched wings casted a twenty-meter long shadow on the ground as it glided in the sky.

Millie was standing behind Grimm. Alongside the flying motion of the beast beneath them, they both looked into the distance from within the packed group of Abyssal Demons.

There might be an Acraepoid or two that were drowned out by the massive legion. They were too insignificant to be able to catch their attention, like a bug that had been inadvertently squished by a giant.

Once again, the Abyssal Moss that seemed to have no end in sight covered the quake-affected mainland, spewing continuous clouds of abyssal breaths that made the abyssal demonic clouds even thicker.

You would have to fly for a long time in the Infernal Spirit World to find a tiny patch of sky that was untouched by the demonic abyssal clouds.

The Abyssal Cataclysm was nearing completion. It was merely waiting for a catalyst that would set off the final collapse to upset the whole balance.

Within ten years, the Abyssal Cataclysm was sure to descend upon the world!

Unless an Eternal Dominator were to make an appearance and restrain the abyssal laws and reverse the reigning law of the world, no one could stop the cataclysm that would befall the world in ten years’ time.

“Grimm, how’s your preparation coming along regarding your progression into a Level-2 Sorcerer?”

Millie asked in a low voice.

“Combining the Ice Marrow Crystallization spell with the Ice Marrow Body has a complementary effect in the transformation of cellular elements as well as selective tempering of the cellular element. I’ve also had adequate research regarding the elemental knowledge after becoming a real Sorcerer these past few centuries. I intend to make a breakthrough after this expedition by tempering my cells with the knowledge of the Ice Marrows.”

Grimm sighed. “Still… with only centuries of knowledge, I do not have the full confidence to succeed in one shot.”

Grimm already had some knowledge regarding the progression path toward a Level-2 Sorcerer long ago.

From Grimm’s understanding, there were in general three ways to become a Level-2 Sorcerer.

The first one was the popular choice of most Elemental Sorcerers: to refine the elemental components of their own body and cause each and every one of their cells to escape from the original qualities of flesh and blood. They would evolve into a life form made up of half elementals and half flesh and blood.

This was also the key to a Level-2 Sorcerer’s elemental decomposition and elemental teleportation skills.

The second one would be similar to Fake Faceless Sorcerer or Tomb Segja. They broke themselves down into tens of thousands of clones. Although they did not have the same kind of mastery in elemental decomposition and teleportation skills like a normal Level-2 Sorcerer, they could still form a perfect symbiosis with some of their unique skills.

The third path was the path of the elemental surge Anatomy Refinery Sorcerer.

They tempered their own bodies by injecting themselves with elemental energies. This would cause each of their cells to be deposited with powerful energy. Although these kinds of Sorcerers were unable to use the elemental decomposition skill, they could still perform elemental teleportation. However, they would be able to preserve the self-evolution potential of their cells.

There were still other methods of becoming a Level-2 Sorcerer, but they were mostly suited to a few Sorcerers with niche knowledge.

For Grimm, he would go for the third method, which was to temper his cells by injecting elemental energy into his body.

“If Master Grimm can progress into a Level-2 Sorcerer in just seven centuries, he will be able to hold his head up high within the Holy Tower of Seven Rings. You are considered outstanding if you become a Level-2 Sorcerer within one millennium. Most would get it between one and a half millennium to three millennia. That was why most Sorcerers could only peak at Level-2 for a long time.”

“Yeah.”

Grimm nodded.

His master once predicted that the Metal Destroyer Civilization would clash with the Sorcerers World within five to seven millennia. If he could become a Level-3 Great Sorcerer before that, Grimm would have accomplished his intended goals.
