Josef closed his eyes and frowned.
He had seen the expectant look on Myra's face just before he left. He also recalled the promise that he
had given to her about eating with her every single day.
However, at this point, he couldn't bring himself to face her.
What's more, he was already late of work. Normally, it wouldn't be that big of a deal, but after all the
trouble Myra had caused, he had to deal with the consequences of her actions.
He wanted to talk to her tonight. No matter what happened, he still wanted her to admit her
wrongdoings.
As long as she admitted what she had done, he would forgive her. Maybe he had just been so busy
and she felt neglected. Maybe that was why she had done such a thing.
Now, Josef must think on how to manage the shareholders. Last night, he had asked Yvonne and
several of his friends to keep it a secret. They were the only ones who knew what happened last night.
He would take the responsibility himself.
If Myra knew what he had done for her, their story would continue in another way.
When Josef arrived at the company, he immediately discussed it with Yvonne about the leaked plan.
She was smart.
If she could help him, then it wouldn't be difficult to figure it out. Yvonne didn't know what happened
after she left yesterday, but it seemed that Josef was willing to bear the responsibility for Myra's
mistake.
She had underestimated the woman's place in his heart. Thinking of this, Yvonne couldn't help but
resent her even more.
'How could you earn Josef's love?
Only I'm the right person for him.
This time, I won't miss this opportunity to bite back!'
Although Yvonne was vicious and hateful towards Myra, she acted decently whenever Josef was
around. In fact, when it came to acting, she was probably one of the best in town.
"Myra's lucky to have a husband like you. Of course, she's a lovely girl, and she deserves your
kindness. To be honest, I really admire your decision. I'm sure that she won't do such a thing again.
Besides, it's normal to make mistakes. We're only human. The most important thing now is that she
understands that she's wrong. I'm happy for her." Yvonne forced a smile into her lips.
Hearing her approval, Josef felt a little relieved. Yvonne had always understood his decisions, no
matter how harsh they were. If only Myra was as good as her...
He quickly shook his head. 'It's useless to think about this. Myra's my wife,' he thought.
Yvonne, however, was already grasping at her straws. She had no idea why Josef was still so deeply in
love with Myra. However, she knew that she shouldn't rush it.
Now, she just needed to know how to deal with Myra.
'You'd belong to me soon, Josef. You'll soon understand that I'm the only one who would ever treat you
the way you deserve to be treated. Besides, Myra's nothing. She doesn't deserve your affection,'
Yvonne cursed inside.
"Don't worry, Josef," she quickly comforted him. "It will all be fine. Don't sweat too much."
"Thank you. I know this is hard for you, so thank you for being here for me." Josef smiled.
"Don't be so formal. It's as if you forget that we're friends. Come on, you're my best friend. I'm like
required to help you at this point," Yvonne teased.
"I swear, as long as you help me out this time around, you can ask for whatever you want," he assured
her. At these trying times, he really didn't know what he would do without her.
"Please, you act as if it's the end of the world!" She burst into laughter, punching him on the shoulder
playfully. "Look, I won't ask for anything important, but how about we go get dinner? Just the two of
us?"
He shrugged. "Sure! We haven't had dinner in years. It's high time we get together."
She grinned from ear to ear. "It's settled then. We have a deal?"
"It's a deal." Josef couldn't help but recall the agreement he had with Yvonne when they were still in
college. He had broken his part of the deal, and that might be the biggest debt he owed her.
Finally, at the shareholders' meeting, Yvonne solved the leaked plan for Josef.
He honestly didn't know how she could solve such a problem in such a short time. He remembered
racking his brain the entire night, yet he still couldn't find a solution.
Seeing her showcase her ability, he couldn't help but appreciate her even more. With such an amazing
woman as his confidant and his assistant, where else would he be without her? Josef smiled.
When it was almost time to get off work, he still remembered his promise to Yvonne.
Honestly, it was hard to thank her for what she had done for his company, yet all she asked from his
was a meal.
He couldn't help but admire her for it. Yvonne wasn't the type of woman who needed anything.
In fact, she had a prestigious family background and an even stronger educational background.
However, instead of helping her own family business, she decided to study the works around his.
When he asked her about it, she said that he wouldn't understand. And maybe she was right.
Given that Yvonne was a woman, it would be harder for her to inherit the family business. There were
so many people who would try to hurt her just to see her fail. What good would it do if you're stress all
the time?
In Josef's company, everyone knew of her capabilities, so she didn't need to work as hard.
It was only in these moments where he needed her help was she able to showcase what she could do.
In these instances, Yvonne was the star player.
Honestly, Josef didn't know what she lacked. He sighed, thinking of the promise he had made years
ago.
If he could make it up this time around, then he'd feel better. It didn't matter if she didn't remember
anything about it. As promised, he booked a dinner for the both of them.
He chose the restaurant he had promised to take her ten years ago.
When Yvonne arrived, she was ecstatic.
"I can't believe you remember this place! This is probably the best thing anyone has ever done for me.
Thank you." She hugged him.
Her eyes were wide with unshed tears. She couldn't believe that he still remembered this place. It
turned out Josef hadn't forgotten their agreement from ten years ago.
Seeing how happy she was, he thought that he made the right decision to come here.
Originally, he wanted to make up for the agreement he owed to her in the past, but now, he also
needed to express his gratitude. It was like killing two birds with one stone. In Josef's heart, he saw all
of this like a business transaction.
If Yvonne really knew what was going on in his heart, she wouldn't be so happy.
However, it was inevitable for life to change. If Josef hadn't broken his promise to her ten years ago,
she would've still been by his side.
She stared at the restaurant before them. Although everything seemed to stay the same, their
relationship wasn't.
Yvonne forced a smile onto her lips and concealed the bitterness in her heart.
As she gazed at all the dishes plated on the table, her face brightened even more.
They were all her favorite food. It seemed that Josef really remembered these little details. At this point,
she was even more determined to win him back.
'This time, Myra, I won't give up.
I'll make sure that he'll be with my by the end of this. You'll regret ever crossing me.'
At the dinner table, she grinned. "Thank you for inviting me to dinner tonight, but that's not my only
request." She winked jokingly. "Care to get drunk together?"
Seeing her so happy, Josef couldn't help but agree to her simple request. Besides, she had already
done so much for her. It wasn't as if anything would happen.
He clapped his hands and leaned forward. "Sure! Let's get hammered, shall we?"
Josef had to admire Yvonne's drinking capacity. She had drunk numerous bottles of wine, and she still
turned out looking fine. On the contrary, Josef might vomit if he drunk a few more bottles. It seemed
that he didn't know that much about her.
"Come on, Josef! Is that all you got? Already so drunk? When have you become so bad at drinking?"
she teased lightly.
"What do you mean?" Josef burst into laughter. He clinked his glass with Yvonne's and drank it all up in
one gulp.
She giggled. "Let's see about that," she stated.
"Although you're my best friend, I feel like I don't know much about you." He filled up both their glasses.
Yvonne raised her glass in acknowledgment and brought it to her lips.
'Not only do I want to be your best friend, but I also want to be yours,' she thought.
Although the two of them were in the same table sharing a drink together, their hearts would never be
on the same page.
A part of her wished that he could accompany her a little longer, but she knew for a fact that it wasn't
going to happen tonight. After all, he was still Myra's husband.
At the thought of him coming back to her, Yvonne couldn't help but feel sad.
'Am I not better than you, Myra? What the hell did you do to deserve his love?' The more she thought
about it, the more she drank.
Josef couldn't understand why Yvonne became silent all of a sudden. 'Women are complicated,' he
thought with a shake of his head. Suddenly, he couldn't help but remember that he still needed to talk
to Myra when he returned.
It wouldn't be a good idea to stall for time. He licked his lips tentatively. Although he wanted to go back
early and make things clear with her, he also promised Yvonne that he'd get drunk with her.
He didn't expect that it would be this hard.
Myra had been in a daze the whole day. She had no one else to talk to.
Ever since she married Josef, she had been alienated and disregarded by all her previous friends.
Although she had some friends here and there, it wouldn't be appropriate for her to spill something so
heartfelt.
When it was approaching dinner time, Myra's phone rang. Thinking that it was from Josef, she quickly
answered.
