Chapter 41Chapter 41 Investing In The Film

“Are you out of your mind?" Elora hit Bonita lightly in disappointment. "Are you wishing him to die?

Darren is not even thirty. What will he think of us if we ask him to make a will?"

“Then what do we do now? He controls the shares of the Quantum Group and doesn't want to give us

even a percentage of the shares.” Bonita was depressed. The mere thought of it infuriated her. "He will

soon marry Sierra, and she will give birth to his child. Darren will obviously leave all his property to

them. We won't even get a penny. Are you going to sit and watch them enjoy all the wealth without

doing anything?"

Elora’s brows furrowed. Money was their priority. Nothing seemed more important to them than that.

They had to come up with a plan before Sierra married Darren.

novelbinElora racked her brains and came up with an idea. "Yes! That baby! We have to make sure Sierra gives

birth to that baby!"

“What?” Bonita was confused.

"It would be great if she gave birth to a son!’ Elora clapped her hands excitedly. "We'll raise the baby

and make sure she doesn't marry Darren. As long as we raise the baby, Darren will be with us and look

after us. All his property will belong to his son, and we can ultimately acquire it."

“You are right!’ Bonita’s eyes lit up as she finally understood her mother's plan. "Not bad, Mom. You're

very clever!"

They had missed the opportunity of getting closer to Darren when he was a little boy, so they couldn't

control him or influence his decisions. Now, they could manipulate his son and make him listen to theirevery word. As long as the boy was under their control, they didn't have to worry about inheriting the

property in the future.

The two envisioned the day when they had full control over Sampson family's property. They began

planning to build the foundation for a secure future.

Meanwhile, Darren was oblivious to his adoptive mother and sister's plans. He sighed and walked into

the room where Claire once lived.

The room was empty, and the window was wide open. A few things were piled up in the corner. There

were no traces of a previous inhabitant there.

Darren walked to the window and took out his lighter. He lit up his cigarette and blew out a ring of

smoke.

Darren seldom smoked. He would only take a puff at times of intense stress.

He didn't remember staying in this room even once in the past three years.

Darren usually lived in a villa near the company. Even during his occasional visits home, he would

sleep in his study.

Claire had spent several long nights all alone in this room, hoping he would accompany her one day.

With time, her expectations turned into disappointment. Ultimately, she lost all hope.

An inexplicable weight settled in his heart. He blew out another ring of smoke and watched it twirling

and rising in the air.

Three years, more than 1000 days and nights, didn't seem long. But those were precious times he

couldn't change or relive.Humans are a strange species. They don't understand the value of something until they lose it. Life will

pass in a blur. They will look back one day and repent for the lost times.

However, that is the thing about time -- what's lost is lost, like the wedding photo. They could print

another photo and frame it, but it would never be the same as the original one.

Claire had told him it was better if they never met in the future. It was fair on her part because she had

been through a lot of pain and suffering in the marriage.

Darren stared out of the window in a daze. He was confused and sad. His mind was a mess; he

couldn't comprehend his feelings and emotions.

Darren quietly stood by the window for a long while until his cigarette burned out. Finally, he took out

his cell phone and dialed a number.

“Wilton.”

"Mr. Sampson.”

“Contact the producer of the Death in Ever-bright City. | want to invest in this film.”

"What?"

Wilton let out a startled gasp. However, he soon gathered himself up and nodded. "Okay."

He blew out a loud breath after hanging up the phone and scratched his head.

He couldn't fathom why his boss wanted to get involved in the film industry all of a sudden.
