Chapter 1121: Murderous Ghost Horde
It was a dark and cold valley. A strange pair of gray-white eyes suddenly appeared on the branch of a tree. Grayish-white energy circulated in them before a face took form from the mist, melding into the tree branch.
The face struggled a bit and then freed itself from the tree branch. More energy flowed out, and a person emerged.
The person was peculiar. His body was cold and stiff, as if it were made of gray wood. His face was marked with circles that resembled the rings of a tree.
His expression was stiff, with a pair of grayish-white eyes that gave off a frightening chill.
On his back was a black coffin. Cold air flowed through it, and something twisted and odd could be faintly sensed inside.
When this man appeared, he looked towards the darkest part of the valley before saying, "The teams from the Heavenly Origin Ancient College and the Hallowed Coruscation Ancient College have gathered. It seems like some of them have considerable strength."
Some sounds were heard from the darkness, as if there was something within the shadows moving about. At the next moment, a few figures took form as well.
There were about seven or eight of them, each of varying heights. However, they all had a common point—there was a black coffin exuding an excruciating chill on each of their backs.
The person in the center of the group was as skinny as a skeleton. His coffin was red, as if it was made of blood. The coffin's lid shook repeatedly, as if there was something extremely terrifying waiting to break out at any moment. His eyes were unique as well. One of them was pitch black with no whites while the other was purely red, much like a pool of blood. The sight was both creepy and unsettling.
"Two ancient colleges fighting against the All-Being Ghostly Skin Dominion. What a rare occasion. The Murderous Ghost Horde is simply here to join in on the fun." The hoarse voice of the man carrying the blood coffin echoed in the dark valley.
"Let them fight amongst themselves first. The Evil Spirit Dominion is not a pushover. We'll be the fishermen that benefit from their struggles. Whether it's the Evil Spirit Dominion or the talents from the two ancient colleges, they're both top-class delicacies."
A look of gluttony and desire could be seen within his eyes. He reached out and slowly caressed the coffin on his back. His lips curved up into an icy, eerie smile.
He then gently patted the cover of the coffin and whispered in a soft, doting tone.
"No hurry, no hurry. I'll definitely let my precious have its fill."
After this, he took a quick glance at the people around him and frowned. "There are too few of us. Just to be safe, we should be better prepared. Blackwood, did you send out the summoning message?"
Blackwood was the one who had crawled out of the tree branch earlier. He replied, "I've sent out the message. However, we're the only ones nearby currently. Some members of the Murderous Ghost Horde appear to have been summoned by someone."
The one with the blood coffin frowned when he heard this. "By whom? Another blood coffin?"
"No, she was named Aquamarine Python, I think."
"Aquamarine Python?"
When he heard that name, the face of the one with the blood coffin turned extremely callous. He remarked with a mercilessly cold voice, "That girl is just an outsider. Does she think she could summon my Murderous Ghost Horde at will? The Lord thinks too highly of her! If not for his protection, she would have become food for my precious long ago!"
The figures with black coffins did not say anything. After all, this was a special right granted by the Spirit Eye Other King. They did not dare to question it.
In the end, the creature with the blood coffin did not comment further. However, both his eyes were bursting with murderous intent as he slowly faded away.
The Fifth Minor Earthly Branch Realm was full of dangers. If the Aquamarine Python died here, it would be perfect.
...
In a forest beside the plains, the light was dim.
In a certain corner, a shadow with an exquisite and slender figure stood atop a black rock. She wore a mask and held an Aquamarine Python Staff by her side.
Her ice-cold eyes pierced through the mask and looked towards the plains, which were littered with countless white flags. The flags dappled in the wind along with countless wails.
The masked girl saw white flags as a giant maze that occupied the land.
A hint of contemplation flashed across her eyes. Not too far from here were the teams from the Heavenly Origin Ancient College and the Hallowed Coruscation Ancient College. She wondered if Li Luo was also there.
Her eyes wavered when she thought about Li Luo. She lowered her head and looked at her right hand. There was a bitter chill coming from her pale skin. There seemed to be black shadows moving underneath it, slithering about like pythons and letting out faint whispers.
The whispers were like the temptation of a devil that could invade one's heart. However, there was nothing she could do about it. Over the years that she had been corrupted, she had familiarized herself with these whispers, taking comfort in something that could drive one crazy.
Suddenly, her pale fingers tightened. She took a quick look behind her and saw some figures slowly walking out of the darkness. Their footsteps were heavy. They all carried strange, black coffins.
They stared at the back of the masked girl with bitter, cold eyes.
When she sensed their gazes, the masked girl turned around. She stretched out her slender, white hand and revealed a plaque in her palm. It was embedded with an eye that instilled an overwhelming fear into their very being.
This was the plaque that had been bestowed by the Spirit Eye Other King. The ones with the black coffins retracted their gazes and gradually lowered their heads as soon as they saw it, a clear sign of submission.
Just as the masked girl was about to speak, she sensed something. Her cold gaze turned towards the right.
After a while, a cute, oval-shaped face peeked out from behind a big tree.
A young girl dressed in black and white stripes walked out a moment later. She was holding onto a round cup that looked like a hollowed bamboo tube with both hands. A huge rod was slung on her back. This girl was bright and shining, as if light radiated out of her. She was completely incompatible with the dark ambience in the surrounding area.
However, she did not seem to be afraid of anything here. She held up her bamboo cup and imbibed a big mouthful. Her bright eyes were filled with curiosity as she looked at the people in front of her.
"Who are you people? From the Heavenly Origin Ancient College?" she asked.
The forest was silent. No one answered her question, including the masked girl. Everyone just stared at her oval face with cold eyes.
"I lost my way. Do you all happen to know where my team members are?" the girl continued without showing any fear.
After her question, she stretched out her hand and fanned in front of her face. "There's a bad stench coming from you guys."
As soon as she finished talking, a figure with a black coffin mysteriously disappeared from his spot. In the next instant, dark, twisted, sharp claws pierced through the shadows beside the girl. It reached out directly for the girl's fair face in a cunning and ruthless way.
A chilly aura flowed out of him as along with strange whispers that confused one's mind.
Bang!
A huge sound exploded in the air. The void seemed to have shattered.
Everyone, including the masked girl, watched with serious looks as the first individual that had tried to strike the girl was sent flying. The trees that they crashed into along the way shattered into powder, leaving behind a deep gouge that spanned more than a thousand feet in the forest.
The sloppy girl still seemed a little confused, but her fist had been thrown out onto the right. The dazzle of light resonant energy crackled on her fist.
What a fearsome punch.
She lightly bit her straw, revealing her pearly white teeth. She then asked with a grin, "Are you looking for a fight? I'm not afraid of you."
The fellows with the black coffins were completely taken aback. They fully understood the strength of their comrade, and yet he had been sent flying by this cute little girl with just one punch.
"That's Ning Meng, the top ranked student in the Hallowed Coruscation Ancient College's Heavenly Star Hall," the masked girl explained in a cold voice.
"Oh, you've heard of me?"
Ning Meng reached for the giant rod behind her. When the rod touched the ground, a huge pit was smashed with cracks spreading out along the edges.
She shook her head gently, and her eyes stopped on the masked girl.
"But...
"I really dislike the smell coming from your body."
