The two rooms that the woman mentioned were actually a living room and a bedroom. The living room had no door and was covered by a curtain. She lifted the curtain and walked in. There was only a bench and a table in the room.
“Where will you and the village chief sleep at night then?” Chen Wei’er asked.
“My husband will sleep on the floor. I will sleep on the table.” The woman first pointed to the floor, then to the table.
Chen Wei’er quickly shook her head and said, “This is not good for your body! What if your husband got wet while sleeping on the floor? Also, it’s not safe to sleep on the table.”
“It’s fine. We have the least family members. Other families usually have three or four people in a house. The villagers said that they had empty houses. Even so, they would have to squeeze themselves.” The village chief’s wife spoke casually.
