His right hand held her body up, touching the bare skin of her back. His fingers making light feathery

circles on her flesh. Her body tensed, “Why are you always saving me?” Accusatory etched in her

words.

“Why do you always need saving Love?”

She got down from him, he exclaimed, “I make you nervous.”

She bent her head down, trying to camouflage her expression, the truth was he did make her nervous.

But so did a lot of people. She was not used to being touched by so many guys, especially handsomely

dangerous ones but that wasn't it, there was something wrong with her emotions.

“I don’t have time for this, I need to find my brother.”

He snarled, “I suppose you haven't been downstairs?”

She lifted her head, “Excuse me?”

“What’s the rush, your brothers fine, maybe a little full of shit but fine.”

She yelled at him ridiculed, “I mean CALUB,”

His smirk didn’t leave his face, “Yes, last I checked, you only have one brother, Love unless of course,

you are not Clarebella.”

“Nathans also my brother, maybe those thousand years of yours are finally catching up with you.”

“Nathan is your cousin, considering that I saved your life, on numerous occasions, some gratitude

would be good.”

He walked a few steps away from her, then turned back, “And don’t be so jealous Love, because I

really think I’m good for another twenty thousand years or so.”

She wanted to slap him, he just knew how to rile her up, “Along with your modesty, maybe forty,” she

retorted, marching up to him and stamped his foot, her face frowning with anger.

“Was that supposed to hurt? Some deceptors way of making your point?”

She exhaled blowing her cheeks up in a huff, the string of curses tipping her tongue.

“I see my services are not needed anymore.” They both turned, Interrupted by a voice.

She smiled, unaware how long he was there for, “Kalbreal!”

He gazed at her bleakly, she thought, so unreadable.

Kole and her eyes met again, his expression changed like a sudden breeze, impatience now masked in

his eyes. Were her emotions transparent, well maybe a little.

“I see,” Nikolai’s voice hardened, unfamiliar to Clare, but then again she barely knew him, “You are in

Angel’s hands now.”

He was gone before she could say anything, phew gone, in a flash, she really needed to get used to

that.

Kalbreal smiling observantly, now that Nikolai was gone like he eased up. “It's really disappointing that

you want to leave without saying goodbye.”

His eyes gave something back to her, secrecy, one that hadn't been there before.

She shook her head, “I didn’t think you’d want me to.”

Touching her fingers slightly, he then held her hand fully. His skin perfect, his touch so smooth, she'd

never felt a subtler one, and more easing hand, it was alluring.

Up into the air towards her bedroom window, he lifted her, disappearing in seconds and reappearing in

the room. Touching her face lightly, his hands smelt so addictive. She didn’t know what it was but it was

sweet. She couldn’t believe it was happening, she couldn’t believe he was touching her. “I am really

glad that you are okay Clarebella,”

She turned her face slowly away from his hand, and he vanished.

She stood there, frozen to the ground. It was the first time Kalbreal had touched her, and when he did,

it was in that way, an intimate one. Something changed in his eyes, she saw a different person. Not a

warrior or avenging Angel, she saw a guy, who was trying to shield his emotions from the world, only

leaving specks of it undisclosed. Clare wasn't going to entertain that thought.

Nikolai’s broody face flashed in her eyes, there was something familiar about him, an unidentified line,

that drew her in, he knew how to pull her. But that wasn’t what had her troubled, it wasn’t what

confused her-

It was William, the only one who could do that. She didn’t know who he was, or what he looked like, but

in the time she was asleep, he was all she dreamed of. His touch, his eyes, his voice, it was just him

who crowded her mind. Was she going crazy or fooling herself? She felt like she was metal and he was

the magnet, and no matter how different they were, they would be destined for each other.

When she’d woken up, she ached with a longing inside her chest for him, for a stranger. It was getting

harder to brush the feeling away, harder to pretend that this craving was so much more. Focusing on

what Nikolai had said, that was what she did, her brother was here, she needed to find Calub. Then

she would find him, find her William.

She looked around the room, the white-painted walls, two small green circular side lamps which stood

on separated brown wooden tables that matched the headboard. She walked to the dresser, seeing

herself in the mirror. Her hair was straighter and shorter, a lot short. Somebody had cut it, she liked it,

just falling aimlessly over her breast and stopping a good few inches above her navel, not curling as

much. She saw a new person, she didn’t recognize herself, her hair was darker, something about her

eyes and features was sharper, reflecting her inner emotions. Her dark rings were lighter, she attributed

it to the sleep she had.

Loud voices drifted from downstairs, laughs. She walked to the door, opened it. One of them sounded

like Nathan laughing. She followed it through the house, down a large spiral staircase, the place she

was in had at least five floors, she was on the second.

Reaching the bottom of the house, she saw the glass sliding door which led to the back of the

monstrosity. The grass had a wide stretch of planks made of cement. There were five guys outside

shooting archery arrows wearing white bodysuits, and practising in the outside field.

“Morning, you look lost.”A guy behind her greeted, causing her to spin around. He himself wore a white

leather outfit just like the others.

“Where exactly am I?”

“L. A HOL,” He replied.

She smiled blandly at him, “hole?” “The HOL, House of legions, crazy, hey? I still can’t believe this

place, it’s huge, I got here yesterday, I’m Ale.”
