Alyssa ran to the bathroom and looked at her ugly face in the mirror. The yellow foundation she had
placed all over her cheeks still hadn't faded, and the spots around her nose were still there. From an
outsider's eye, she looked very ugly. She might even look disgusting to some people. But why did
Justin keep flirting with her? Was the man blind or something?
She had always heard that people in the higher social circles were a bit different. They had more
special...habits and perversions that many would've found ridiculous and weird.
Could it be that he had some sort of excitement for forbidden romances? So she being his sister-in-law
gave him a sense of excitement of actually claiming her right under his cousin's nose?
At the thought of this, she felt a little scared and a chill shot down her spine.
When she had first met “Justin”, she thought that he was just a playboy who got everything he could
ever want. And by that, she'd readily assume that he had tons of women and money at his disposal–all
of them ready to be spent and left behind.
However, his gunshot wound completely changed her view of him.
Although he had a handsome look, had a wonderful family background, and even had extraordinary
perseverance, Alyssa was sure that he wasn't as simple as some may have thought.
But this amazing man often flirted with her.
Why?
Even when Alyssa walked out of the bathroom and started to cook, she still wasn't paying attention to
the meal she was cooking up. Smoke filled her surroundings, but she couldn't seem bothered by it.
Only after wasting two pieces of beef, did she finally manage to push ‘Justin’ out of her mind. This was
not the time to think about him! She had more important things to finish.
At this point, she still planned to believe Justin just this once and make the dishes that he had
mentioned.
As soon as she had finished cooking, she heard the sound of the car engine coming from the front
door. Flashing lights flickered through the dark windows, signaling that the car had just parked. Alyssa
paused.
Was Emmett back?
If she went out now, could she see him?
As the thought appeared in her mind, she could not help but feel a little nervous. Back then, she
remembered how against he was in letting her see his face despite her proclamations of it didn't matter.
Would he finally allow her to see him now?
When she took off her apron and went out, she only saw Frank. No matter how long she had waited, he
made no moves to open the passenger seat or even the backseat.
Wasn't Emmett in the car?
Frank was about to walk into the hall with a box in his arms, when he saw Alyssa standing by the
doorway. Although stunned, he quickly recovered, nodding respectfully. "Young Madame. Do you need
any help with anything?"
Alyssa also nodded to him and asked him. “Is Emmett back?”
"Young Master has already gone upstairs." Although he didn't know why his boss was even continuing
with this act, after so many days, Frank had been able to help Emmett lie without hesitation. "He took
the back entrance."
Alyssa was a little surprised, but she didn’t think much more, “He hasn’t eaten yet, has he? I’ve made
dinner.”
Frank was a smart man, so he could understand the meaning of her words.
"I'm going to deliver these documents to the young master. I'll be asking him if he wants to go
downstairs to eat or if he needs it delivered to his study. Will that be all right, Young Madame?"
“Thank you.”
…
Alyssa didn't hold him very long. Frank breathed a sigh of relief and went to Emmett’s study with a box
of documents.
Emmett was on the phone, discussing a business deal.
Emmett was on the phone, discussing a business deal.
When he heard the door being pushed open behind him, he didn't need to look back to know that it was
Frank.
By the time Emmett finished the call, Frank had already taken out all the documents from the folder and
arranged them neatly on his desk–each ranging from contracts to invitations.
Seeing that Frank had not left, he asked. "Do you want to say anything else?"
Frank hesitated before saying. "Young Madame said she cooked for you."
When Emmett heard this, he didn’t answer immediately. He just twisted his finger and then he said
slightly, “I know.”
Frank felt that ever since Alyssa had married him, Emmett’s behavior had started to become a bit
strange. Although he was still aloof and cold to everyone around him, there was a sense of stiffness
whenever Alyssa's name was mentioned. And whenever he had seen them interact, it was as if he had
turned a complete 180 on them all.
…
In the dining room, Alyssa paced from left to right. However, she still didn't see Frank come down from
the study.
However, just as she was about to head back to her bedroom, she saw ‘Justin’ walking down the stairs.
He was still dressed the same way he had been an hour ago, and the arrogant look on his face still
hadn't changed.
Alyssa looked at him warily. Out of precaution, she stepped back some steps. She couldn’t help asking,
“Didn't you say you had a dinner party to attend?"
"I have." Emmett said, walked past her and walked straight into the dining room.
There were several dishes that looked delicious on the table. The bright colors and sweet aroma made
the dishes all the more delectable. In addition to the three dishes he had said before, she also made
chicken cubes with peppers. Although it may not be five-star quality, there was something about these
dishes that brought him a sense of warmth.
Alyssa frowned and followed him, “Why don’t you leave now?”
“Did I say I wanted to go there?” Emmett sat down at the table and gave her a calm look.
Although he looked emotionless, she felt that he was far pleased with himself in finding a loophole. It
was like dealing with an overaged child! She clenched her fists, but she remained silent. As long as he
didn't touch the food, she'd be fine.
However, it seemed that the man had other plans.
Emmett didn’t eat too much at Alyssa’s home at noon. He was hungry now and stomach growled at the
sight of all these food. Not even waiting for her reaction, he grabbed his chopsticks and started to eat.
Alyssa walked over to snatch the chopsticks from his hand. “Hey! This isn't for you!"
Emmett seemed to have thought that she would come to grab the chopsticks, so he lifted his long arm.
As a result instead of grabbing the chopstick, Alyssa lost her balance and fell straight forward.
She subconsciously reached out to protect her face and head, only to land in “Justin's” firm embrace.
Her body froze almost entirely as his cold hands slid down her warm back. She heard “Justin” saying,
“Cousin Emmett is still at home, and you're already throwing yourself at me like this. Do you really want
us to turn against each other and fight for your hand?"
Alyssa finally lowered her hands and opened her eyes. It was only when she looked at him did she saw
the faint smile that had slipped into his lips.
“Justin” was still sitting in the chair at the table, while Alyssa was sitting on his lap, and her whole body
was in his arms!
Their posture was too intimate. If someone else were to see them...
She struggled under her grasp, and her expression darkened immediately. However, before she could
break free from his hold, Frank had just walked into the dining room.
"Young Master said he..." When Frank realized what was going on in the dining room, he showed a
rare look of surprise.
With good adaptability, Frank adjusted his expression. “Master said he isn’t hungry.”
Without another word, he just turned around and ran away.
What did he see?
The master and lady in the dining room…
No, wait!
But the Young Master's identity right now wasn't Emmett, but “Justin”! Being a subordinate of Emmett,
wasn't his reaction too passive? Shouldn't he be angry and immediately report it to the 'Young Master'
even if they were the same person?
Should he head back then? Forget it, he didn’t dare to. Boss would eat him alive if he interrupted them
at such an intimate moment...and it could only make matters even worse.
However, the master’s addition was quite strange.
…
In the dining room, the atmosphere had gone from ambiguous to outright confusing.
Alyssa watched Frank enter the room and leave without adding another word and was totally in daze.
She didn't know if it was because the man was too surprised to speak or he had gotten too anxious
upon seeing them.
Emmett looked at the change of her expression and a trace of interest flashing through his eyes and
quickly disappearing. He slowed down his voice and whispered in his ear. “Do you think Frank will tell
cousin about us?"
Alyssa directly retorted, “We have nothing to do with each other.”
Alyssa continued to struggle to break free from his grasp, but he still didn't let go. In reality, he didn't
seem to use much of his strength, but no matter what she did, she still couldn't break free.
Alyssa was angry and anxious, and her ears turned red, “Justin, you have gone too far!”
Emmett noticed that her ears turned red but there was no change in her face. He looked down in
surprise and saw that her face was covered with something.
He narrowed his eyes, as his finger slide down across her cheek and he wiped it.
The spot where he had wiped happened to be where there were numerous spots across her face.
When he raised his finger, he saw that the spots had faded! Not only that, but the part of her skin where
he had just wiped, already turned white!
What was this about?
Taking advantage of his confusion, she was finally broke free from his embrace. She didn't dare move
as she covered her face, standing on the side. An unconcealable fear flashed across her face, and she
found herself frozen into place.
Emmett came back to his senses.
He looked down at his fingers, and there was a layer of yellow power on his fingertips.
His eyes became sharper and deeper, something flashed across his features. Slowly getting up from
his seat, he slowly walked towards her.
He walked very slowly, and every step made her heart skip a beat. She couldn't help but step back.
As soon as her back hit the wall, she knew that there was no way out of this situation.
Emmett put his fingers in front of her and asked in a low voice. “What is it?”
Because of fear, Alyssa could not help but turn up her volume. “My makeup… Don’t you know about
foundation?”
However, Emmett didn't let it go that easily.
Emmett narrowed his eyes and sneered. “You like you use such a dark shade of foundation?”
