Chapter 145: The Secret of the Iron Sword

The one who was leading the group was so aggressive, and as he was just about to shout out mightily, he saw the mysterious woman standing there, motionless. His eyes suddenly straightened, completely forgetting what he intended to say. Although it was just a silhouette, that incomparably extreme level of charm simply stole his soul away. Not just him, the other three were similarly manifesting the same manner, their eyeballs almost fell out from their sockets, and even their saliva was flowing out from the corner of their mouths uncontrollably.

“Brother, they look very scary.” Ning Xue shrank back into his chest and whispered. Tong Xin, leaning onto his back, lowered her head as she was taking a bite on the cake. If this girl was to lift her head, then maybe the very first thing that would attract these robbers’ eyes would not be the mysterious woman.

“Don’t be afraid, they will leave soon.” Ye Wuchen consoled her in a low voice, then lifted his head, engrossing in his mind with what the following scenario would look like.

“To hell with it… This rain was indeed not wasted. Such a beautiful woman, this will be the first time in Lin Laohei’s life to see one.” The one leading the group could not help but use his empty hand to wipe the corner of his mouth, as if losing his soul while he was talking, he then laughed with an evil and lustful face. Swaying as he headed forward a few steps, he stretched out his hand to touch the face of the woman, “Beautiful girl, would you like to come with me and become the wife of a bandit?”

The woman’s eyes became serious. Her white wrist suddenly stretched in front, and a very long white silk cloth shot out from her sleeve. It flew towards the face of the man, the soft white silk cloth was like a tenacious long whip and with a slap. It ruthlessly hit the man’s face, causing his thick and solid body to fly back, along with his shattered teeth and bleeding gums.

The scenario that followed was exactly the same as what Ye Wuchen had in his mind. Several ignorant robbers who overestimated their capabilities offended a fairy, and they were simply beaten away by the fairy. Eventually, the four of them were all lying on the ground crying and yelling out “fairy please spare our lives, we will not do it again in the future…” One of them almost wanted to say, “I have an eighty year old mother, and a three year old child who needs to be fed.” and other statements of the like. Finally, one by one they scrambled to climb up, with their tails between their legs as they escaped.

Hence, this small house became silent once again.

If there were other people around, they would think that the young man, who could possibly have extraordinary abilities, would step forward bravely and knock down the villains who intended to violate the fairy. He would then succeed in “Rescuing the Damsel in Distress” and would leave a profound impression on the fairy. But from the beginning until the end Ye Wuchen did not take action, instead he only struck the posture of observing the nice scenario, so the scenario had nothing to go on. When the four robbers embarrassingly escaped, the mysterious woman’s eyes looked to the side, shooting a glance at the nonchalant Ye Wuchen, giving him a dull once over. Looking outside the window, the rain started to gradually slow down, yet he still had no idea what she was thinking about.

“Sister, you are very awesome! Ferocious, just like brother.” Ning Xue exclaimed in admiration.

The woman was still quiet.

Ning Xue stood up, walked to the spot next to the woman and lifted her small face as she said, “Sister, the cloth in your body was wet, it must be cold and difficult to bear. Come and dry it, so it will feel better.”

The woman’s gaze eventually moved to land on Ning Xue’s face, following which her eyes contracted. Whoever first saw Ning Xue, they would get shocked by the two terrible scars and the snow white hair. After the first glimpse, she retracted her gaze, then moved her steps to bypass Ning Xue to head out of the small house.

Autumn rain and thunder came fast, and left fast as well. The rain outside began to slow and the sound of thunder did not echo anymore. Ning Xue blinked, looking at the big sister, who refused to pay attention to her, as she disappeared within the curtain of rain. In her mind, she had some doubts and some sadness.

“Brother, why did she refused to pay attention to me?” Ning Xue asked with a little shock.

Ye Wuchen smiled and said, “Brother has told you before, she is a fairy who did not eat the food of mortals. They simply refused to pay attention to us mortal beings, but I believe that when Xue-er grows up she will be more beautiful than the fairy.”

“Fairy?” Ning Xue was bewildered by the word that she seldom heard. She slightly nodded her head and said, “Brother, a while ago she ignored me. Is it because I didn’t call her fairy? If I call her Sister Fairy from now on, would she pay attention to me?”

“Don’t worry, we will see her again soon.” Ye Wuchen’s face had a mysterious smile, “Come, sit down and finish your food. Once you are done, the rain will have stopped already.”

The bonfire begun to die out, and the rain outside still had a few scattered raindrops. Ye Wuchen used his spiritual alertness to sweep through their surroundings. Detecting no outsiders around, he extended his hand and the black ring of the God of Sword flickered a strange white light. Subsequently, an old sword that seemed to be the rusty appeared in his hand. It was the iron sword that he had obtained from the Treasure Storehouse of the Tian Long Imperial Palace.

Hiss…

A soft sound, and another long sword appeared in Ye Wuchen’s other hand. The sword blade was sparkling and translucent like ice, emitting graceful cold air, its aura caused the temperature in the surrounding area to drop, even holding it in the hand the coldness was very pressing. This sword was the XueJi Sword that Ye Wuchen had had Tong Xin steal from the Treasure Storehouse. According to legend, it was the sword of the Snow Woman.

Cling!

Ye Wuchen’s hands intertwined and the two swords collided. The deposed iron sword was easily cut in half by the XueJi sword. A half silently dropped to the ground covered in straw.

“Ah? Brother, why did you cut the sword?” Ning Xue had moved closer and asked curiously.

“Take a look.” Ye Wuchen picked up the fallen half and showed the cross section for her to see. This sword had existed for several hundred years, and although the outer layer already rusted, the snapped off layer still appeared brand new. Evidently, the outer layer of this sword was made of high quality iron, the inner layer was not tough and durable, but was heavy and metal did not easily corrode… Perhaps, it was not a even metal.

“It was hollow inside?” Ning Xue said in surprise. A hollow center that could be easily cut off, this explanation was evident. The weight of this sword was not different from any other ordinary sword, it was even a little bit heavier, but also had a well-proportioned hollow space in the center.

When Ye Wuchen picked the sword, he did not find any abnormality on it, but when his powers permeated the sword blade, he discovered that the center was hollow. There might be something hidden inside so he did not think much further, and selected this sword right away.

Taking back the XueJi Sword, he turned the broken sword downward in his left hand and lightly shook his wrist. A light sound echoed and a leather scroll tightly wrapped with golden thread dropped from the hollow space.

Ning Xue subconsciously yelled out, “Something fell out, but…Was it really hidden inside of the sword? This seems like it was made from the skin of an animal.”

Ye Wuchen puts down the broken sword and carefully picked up the leather scroll, he tested it and felt relieved. After a few hundred years, not only the sword but even this leather scroll made from unknown material had minimal signs of decay, still retaining their toughness and did not break off under the light pull of Ye Wuchen.

He untied the golden thread, then slowly spread out the leather scroll and his heart leaped a bit. Abnormal things must have devilish properties. His powers could penetrate through everything, so under his meticulous observation he then found out that this sword had a hollow center that even the Long Family did not find out about. This sword that was left behind by the great ancestor, who commanded that the sword must not be damaged. Something that was hidden for hundreds of years must contain a huge secret, most likely...

Curious, Ning Xue and Tong Xin each stayed at his left and right sides, peeking over Ye Wuchen’s hand. The scroll was fully opened, some delicate lines and black dots were sketched on it. Beside the black dots were two or three small words marked on it, as Ye Wuchen roughly swept through it, his brows lightly raised up.

“Brother, this is?” Ning Xue leaned on brother’s shoulder and asked curiously. She could not fully understand the things on the leather scroll. Tong Xin also could not understand it.

“It’s a map.” Ye Wuchen answered after a few glimpses, then he slowly flipped over the leather scroll and looked at the back.

At the back there was only a few lines of small blurry words. Ye Wuchen scanned through them and he was shocked. He closed his hands, completely closing the leather scroll, as his mind was deeply frightened.

“A map? For what location? Why would they hide this map inside, were they afraid that they might lose it?” Ning Xue asked.

“It’s a map that is of no use to us, yet it will be enough to trigger chaotic situations.” Ye Wuchen answered in a gentle voice. He tied the leather scroll again with the golden thread, but did not put it back inside the sword. Instead, he placed it inside his God of Sword’s ring. Although he could not use the map, he would not allow it to emerge before the eyes of the common people. Moreover, he did not want the Long Family to get it… Even if it did belong to the Long Family.

Ning Xue’s face was full of puzzlement, but she did not ask further. For her, these things were none of her business.

Picking up the two broken halves of the sword, he merging the severed parts. Ye Wuchen used one hand to hold the damaged portion, as his power slowly rushed forth. After quite a while, he moved his hand aside, with his forehead covered with sweat the broken sword was once again intact, without any marks left behind.

By this time, the rain outside had stopped and the clouds started to break up. Ye Wuchen took back the iron sword then carried Ning Xue and pulled Tong Xin’s hand along, “Let’s go.”

That afternoon, just like what Ye Wuchen had predicted, they arrived at the Xiang Yun City. They stayed at a small inn. Although Ye Wuchen did not bring a map, before they headed out he had familiarized himself with the map of Tian Long Nation by heart. The distance, the location, big and small cities, and towns he had already knew them well.

Two days later.

It was already the sixth day since they headed out from Tian Long City. Throughout their journey, they had proceeded without any obstructions, and did not meet with any twists and turns. Before their eyes now was the awe-inspiring and borderless dense forest. This forest was the dividing line between the Northern and Southern part of Tian Long Nation, and was the only way that one could take when heading south.

Looking at the color of the sky, Ye Wuchen said, “Xue-er, Tong Xin, looks like we will stay at this huge forest today.”

“En, great! Forests are what I like the most. Oh right, brother, can we taste some roasted meat tonight? I haven’t tasted it for quite a long time now.” Ning Xue twisted her body, blinking her big eyes as she asked. Looking at the forest, she thought of the time when she and Ye Wuchen first met. Everyday, they had been able to pick fruits from the forest and hunt small animals. After they entered the Ye residence, she ate only luxurious food with brother, but she would miss those times when she had roasted meat with brother. The young lady’s heart slowly transformed during those situations.

“Of course we can, there are so many small animals inside the forest.” Ye Wuchen answered smiling, but one thing that he failed to mention was that large beasts were also roamed the forest.
