Chapter 1116: Grim Truth of the Chimeras

'Adjusted?'

Izroth could not help but give a helpless smile. He merely wanted to test something out and ended up forcing the system to adjust one of his skills!

'Increasing an S-ranked skill to an SS-ranked-I suppose it's not necessarily a bad thing. Still, to think the system would act this quickly. I guess it couldn't risk me using such a strategy against other boss monsters. Should I be grateful that it allowed me to finish fighting first?'

At the moment, Izroth could not pull off such a strategy relying solely on his agility. However, eventually, he would have been able to depend on his agility alone to take advantage of his Cosmic Seizing Vortex. This would have made most fights one-sided with the opponent being rendered helpless in the same way as Zitra.

This mostly stemmed from the fact that the pull effect from Cosmic Seizing Vortex was not registered as crowd control by the system. As a result, crowd control cleansing abilities and items would have zero effect against its pull.

While the system did not change that aspect of the skill, it made it so that the pull from the new Supreme Cosmic Seizing Vortex could not be outright abused.

Fortunately, while it could be seen as the system's way of punishing a player's creative use of a skill, at least it offered some form of compensation.

It was not uncommon for games to patch or hotfix things that were considered "game- breaking" and be completely justified in doing so. However, when it came to RML, the system was fair and did everything in its power to maintain that fairness without obstructing players. In truth, it was not uncommon for the system to compensate players when it made unique adjustments. It was just extremely rare that such adjustments had to be made in the first place. So much so that Izroth was probably the sole player in RML who experienced receiving compensation from the system more than once.

"The system has already made its choice. It's not as if I can do anything to change it. Since I still have quite a bit of time left, I might as well sort through the loot I obtained." Izroth said to himself as he opened his inventory.

The first item he inspected was Zitra's Lab Coat. Its appearance was virtually identical to the coat Zitra wore; however, it looked brand new and there were no signs of any discoloration.

Name: Zitra's Lab Coat(Rare)

Creator: Unknown

Description: A lab coat made with high-quality threads and contains faint traces of inscribed magic. Wearing this outfit sharply increases the user's focus and regulates the wearer's body temperature to an always ideal state despite the environment.

Special Note: When this outfit is worn, all other equipment, excluding the wearer's

weapon(s), becomes automatically hidden. The wearer can choose to keep certain equipment pieces visible.

"The effects are not bad. With its focus and body temperature regulation, it's perfect for anyone with a crafting profession. Though it's still useful to players without a profession. The fact that it's an outfit and can be worn with regular equipment makes it worth using.'

"For now, I'll keep it in my inventory," Izroth said as he placed the coat back into his inventory.

For one, Izroth already had the Attire of a Silent Night as his main choice of clothing. But, more importantly, it was not that useful for him. Izroth had no trouble when it came to focusing. And, his Apparel of Insatiable Transcendence already did an impeccable job regulating his body temperature.

Next, Izroth opened the two Rare Item Treasure Chest. Unfortunately, the items he acquired were rather disappointing and not worth mentioning.

Izroth then turned his attention to the Pristine Research Containment Vessel.

Pop! Poof!

'Oh? It grew larger than when it first appeared.'

Originally, the Pristine Research Containment Vessel was no larger than one's palm. However, when claimed and summoned, it grew roughly two meters tall and three meters wide.

The object had three separate compartments that stood side by side with a sleek white appearance and transparent glass reinforced with magic that kept the compartments covered.

Name: Pristine Research Containment Vessel (Magical Item)

Rank: A

Durability: 1,000,000/1,000,000

Capacity: [Slot 1 Capacity: 0.00%] [Slot 2 Capacity: 0.00%] [Slot 3 Capacity: 0.00%]

Usage: A containment vessel capable of storing non-living creatures, objects, and substances, keeping them from degrading. Different types can be stored together but carries a risk of contamination.

Special Note: A containment vessel crafted by Zitra to help further his research.

"Despite its size, it probably can't store as much as an S-ranked containment item like the Ageless Vial of Sen. It's also not indestructible. That being said, it is more versatile than the Ageless Vial of Sen which is only capable of storing liquids and gases. It's almost like a small second inventory."

Izroth returned the Pristine Research Containment Vessel to his inventory before he set his attention on the next three items.

Name: Artificial Plant: Ultima Synthleaf

Rank: Ancient(32)

Usage: An artificial plant made by the ingenious fusion of science and magic, the Ultima Synthleaf is capable of copying an element and taking on its attributes. The Ultima Synthleaf can only copy one element but evolves the element it takes on in a unique way, making it highly sought after to use for crafting and synthesizing.

Name: Failed Chimera Core

Rank: Mythical(165)

Usage: The failed chimera core made by the ingenious fusion of science and magic. If properly infused with a living being, it will greatly increase that living being's power and bestow upon them powerful new abilities. Due to this item's flaws, using it can cause harsh unintended side effects and will eventually lead to rapid deterioration and weakening without fail.

Name: Zitra's Research Notebook

Rank: None

Description: A book that contains details and information on Zitra's research on Chimeras

over the years.

Izroth was surprised to discover that the Artificial Plant: Ultima Synthleaf was an ancient- ranked material, seeing as how there were ten of them. Nevertheless, it was undoubtedly a useful resource for crafting with its element copying and evolving effects.

As for the Failed Chimera Core, it was a somewhat eerie item. It could grant one power and new abilities, but would ultimately leave them crippled. Of course, Izroth had no intention of using it on himself. However, he was curious about the methods used to manufacture the Artificial Plant: Ultima Synthleaf and Failed Chimera Core as they both appeared to be a result of science and magic.

Izroth set those two items aside in his inventory and looked at the black notebook in his hands. He took a moment to quickly flip through its contents to commit it to memory. And, the instant he finished memorizing its contents, Izroth unsheathed his Sword of the Storm and sliced the books into countless pieces before returning his sword to his sheath.

Without hesitation, Izroth destroyed Zitra's Research Notebook. He figured it needed to be destroyed if he wanted to complete his quest; however, after reading its contents, Izroth understood the dangers of allowing such a notebook to exist.

'It would seem that my suspicions were correct. The chimeras are not made using only parts of monsters. They're also created by taking advantage of the residents of this world.'
