After she met with Sean, Zlana began investigating Mr. Halley. She dialed the phone number obtained
from Sean. Initially, his phone was powered off. Later, it turned into a dead number.
Using hacking techniques to trace the number’s owner, she discovered it belonged to someone long
deceased, with rumors that it had been purchased by another individual.
As for the buyer’s identity, there was no way to determine it.
This frustrated Ziana. Her growing concern was compounded by the fact that Boris had yet to regain
consciousness.
Seven days had passed since the surgery.
During that time, she visited him in the hospital every day, hoping to find him awake.
As the days wore on without any sign of him stirring, everyone grew increasingly anxious.
When Ziana came on the eighth day, the attending doctor invited her to the office.
“Ms. Ava,” he said cautiously, his face etched with concern, “it’s not that I doubt your abilities, but Mr.
Lewis still hasn’t awakened. It’s been eight days. Why hasn’t he come around yet?”
Ziana replied calmly, “It’s less than half a month and within the realm of normalcy. Just be patient.”
Her words provided the attending physician with a sense of reassurance.
“Alright, we’ll wait a bit longer.” He exhaled in relief. “Is the liquid administered to him the one. you
prescribed?”.
Ziana pondered for a moment, reviewed the list of liquids she had prescribed, and eventually altered
two of the medications. She said, “From today onwards, follow the revised prescription.”
The doctor took it, examined it, and looked up at her, his eyes filled with admiration.
The two modified doses might not have seemed particularly noteworthy, but they were remarkably well-
suited when combined with the other medications.
The doctor couldn’t help but praise her. “Ms. Ava, may I study this prescription?”
Ziana pursed her lips. “Feel free to examine it. If there’s anything you don’t understand, just ask me.”
She exited the office, finding the typically quiet corridor was now bustling with uncharacteristic noise.
“Biber, you’re finally back! If you hadn’t returned, I wouldn’t have known what to do!”
Outside the ward, Steven held the tall and poised Biber. “Something happened to Boris.”
Livia, who stood beside them, said, “Biber came as soon as he heard about this!”
“Mm.” Biber pushed Steven away with a serious expression and raised his chin, “Let’s go in and see
Boris.”
Steven quickly ushered them inside.
Ziana stood there, her brow creased.
Had Biber mentioned that he’d just returned from Galia? She advanced and soon found herself within
the ward as well.
Steven was in the midst of explaining, “Ziana was kidnapped, and Boris went to save her. Somehow,
they both ended up leaping from a moving car. Ziana was fine, but Boris suffered a severe brain. injury”
Biber’s face darkened as he gazed at Boris. “The news claims no one has operated on him. Don’t tell
me the surgery hasn’t been performed yet.”
“Of course, it has,” Steven replied, noticing Ziana from the corner of his eye. He quickly beckoned her
over. “Ziana performed the operation.”
Ziana found herself standing before Biber.
Unlike Steven, Biber possessed shrewd intelligence and a commanding presence.
“Miss Scott,” he addressed her, focusing solely on the matter at hand. “Pardon my asking, but did you
perform the surgery on Boris?”
“I did, and there’s no need for concern. I’m highly skilled, and the operation proceeded smoothly. I don’t
anticipate any complications.”
Biber nodded. “I’m not questioning your expertise. I simply want to know why he hasn’t awakened yet?”
Ziana wished she knew the answer herself.
She could only speak the truth, “His vital signs are stable. If he hasn’t woken up yet, then we must wait.
There’s no better option now.”
Biber didn’t press further but asked Steven about recent events.
Steven, a chatterbox, told the story in detail. Livia listened intently, interjecting occasionally.
Biber listened quietly.
The ward was now filled with long lost liveliness.
About half an hour later, Biber whispered in Livia’s ear, “I’m going out for a smoke.”
Livia pursed her lips and looked at him. “Smoking kills.”
With a doting smile in his eyes, Biber gazed at her quietly.
Livia snorted and waved her hands. “I know you’re upset. I’ll let you smoke this once! Just to annoy
me!”
Biber grinned and patted her slender waist before strolling out of the ward with a cigarette between his
fingers.
Ziana followed close behind.
“Mr. Sam,” she called out.
Biber bit down on his cigarette and lit it. Hearing her voice, he turned around and raised his dark eyes
slightly, “Miss Scott, you can call me Biber. Did you come here to talk to me alone?”
Compared to Steven, Biber had much higher emotional intelligence.
So, Ziana didn’t beat around the bush. “I just want to know what you were doing in Galia. Did Boris
send you to investigate someone?”
Biber furrowed his brow.
He wasn’t sure why Ziana was asking such a question.
Seeing that he didn’t respond, Ziana paused before continuing, “Do you know about Boris being
hypnotized?”
Now it was Biber’s turn to be stunned. He looked at her in surprise, “You remember?”
It seemed she was well-informed.
Ziana explained simply, “I was also hypnotized and only recently regained my memories. But that’s not
important. I learned from Sean that there’s a man behind him called Mr. Hailey who has ordered him to
deal with Boris.”
“Mr. Hailey?”
“I suspect it was Mr. Collins who kidnapped me five years ago,” Ziana said firmly. “Sean told me that
Mr. Hailey’s feud with Boris began because Boris killed one of his sons. If he is Mr. Collins, then
everything falls into place.”
“Did Boris ask you to investigate Mr. Collins?”
Hearing her words, Biber knew she was no outsider. “He indeed asked me to investigate Mr.
Collins, but the man I found has been dead for three years.”
“Dead?” Ziana exclaimed in disbelief. “Truly dead?”
If Mr. Collins was dead, then her suspicions were unfounded.
Biber pondered for a moment. “I’m not certain. Mr. Collins was a notorious gangster in Galia. He
was so successful that he became a household name. But apart from a few close associates, many his
underlings had never even seen him. They don’t know what he looks like.
“It’s said that three years ago, during a power struggle for the leadership of the gang, Mr. Collins
was hacked to death and disappeared without a trace. His name faded into obscurity along with him.
As for whether he truly died or not, only those at the scene would know.”
He spoke with a hint of regret. “But before I could investigate further, Boris had an accident and I ended
up here.”
Ziana’s hope reignited. “So, it’s possible that he isn’t really dead.”
“It could be interpreted that way.”
Ziana clenched her fists. “Keep investigating. If you need help, just tell me.”
All of a sudden.
The door to the ward burst open from the inside.
Steven shouted, “Biber! Ziana! Hurry up! Boris is awake!”
