Hearing Linda’s words, Cecil stopped abruptly, but didn’t turn around.
Unknown to Linda, his eyes flashed with displeasure.
‘A woman who doesn’t want to marry me? Humph!’ he sneered to himself.
Tension hung thick in the room as they both stayed silent.
After five seconds, once his eyes had returned to their usual indifference, Cecil turned around and
looked at Linda.
With a smirk, he said, “Why? Because from the moment I was born, I’ve always gotten everything I
wanted. No matter what, the things I desire will be mine.”
Linda was taken aback.
She, who had never been confident or assertive, couldn’t accept or understand Cecil’s firm
determination.
Her eyelashes trembled as she struggled to find words to say.
Cecil took two steps forward and changed the topic. “But…”
Frightened by his imposing manner, Linda stepped back. “What… What’s wrong?” she asked shakily.
“Leona doesn’t want to marry me. Are you saying that you do?” Cecil asked, piercing Linda with his
gaze.
Linda’s lips parted in disbelief, and her mouth went dry.
She hadn’t meant to set a trap for herself.
Without waiting for a reply, Cecil kept walking forward. For every step he took towards her, Linda
anxiously took a step back. Seeing that the back of her waist was about to hit the table, he reached out
and grabbed her slender waist before pulling her close.
He lowered his head to look at her and growled, “Answer me.”
Linda could barely breathe. She could feel his breath on her forehead, making her tremble like a leaf.
She slowly looked up to meet his gaze and found that their eyes were only inches apart.
Shocked by the proximity, she quickly looked away.
Cecil looked at her panicking with
out batting an eye. He just pinched her chin with his hand and said coldly, “I like direct communication.
Answer me!”
Clenching her fists to calm herself, Linda asked, “What will you do if I say yes?”
Cecil’s eyes instantly narrowed into two forbidding arcs. “Do you like me?”
Feeling his hot breath against her face, Linda bit her lip and forced herself to stop shaking.
She gulped before looking at him again. “Cecil… Cecil Bo… The truth is, I love you. I’ve loved you for a
long time. That’s why I was willing to take Leona’s place and marry you, but I also did it for my parents’
sake. Please don’t do anything to the Ye Group. When Leona comes back, I will definitely step aside.”
As she spoke, her eyes kept darting back and forth, not daring to meet Cecil’s.
But to her dismay, he suddenly barked, “Look at me!”
Under his domineering aura, Linda couldn’t get a hold of her emotions.
Like a puppet, she looked straight at him with tears in her eyes.
When Cecil spoke again, his voice was much colder than before. “Did you force Leona to leave the Ye
family so that you could marry me instead?”
Hurt flashed in Linda’s eyes.
Did he really think that she was such a heinous person?
The tears hanging in her eyes instantly rolled down her cheeks, but she knew that she still had to
explain the truth to him.
“No, I didn’t, I swear. You can ask my parents. You’ve misunderstood me…”
Cecil gruffly let go of her chin and wiped the tears from the corner of her eyes. “That’s interesting,” he
said vaguely.
Linda looked at him in confusion.
Cecil’s lips curled into a playful smirk as he added, “Since the woman I want to marry has escaped, I
might as well torture her sister.”
