Chapter 713: The Outside World May Be Fascinating, but Please Remember That You Already Have a Husband
Lu Chengzhou used to spend most of his time at No. 14 Research Center in Ming City and rarely went back to Red Scorpion. Now, however, he spent almost all of his days in the capital, which made Qin Fang and He Yidu think that their boss no longer wanted his empire.
Gu Mang placed a piece of chocolate between Lu Chengzhou’s lips.
As he put it into his mouth, he started the car’s engine. “There have been a lot of things that I have to settle in the capital lately.”
“Oh.” She ate a piece of chocolate as well.
He looked sideways at her and asked in his deep voice, “You want me to leave when I’m here to accompany you?”
“That’s not it.” She turned her head to look into his eyes. However, she got cut off just as she was about to say something else.
“So you don’t want me to leave?” he asked, teasing her. “Are you that reluctant to part with me?”
The corners of his lips hooked up when he saw her narrowing her eyes slightly at him. “In that case, I won’t leave tomorrow. I’ll stay here a few more days to accompany you.”
Hearing that, she raised an eyebrow as she swallowed the words she wanted to say earlier. “Are you heading off to No. 14 Research Center, then?”
“Yeah. I’m going over to take a look at the project testing that’s coming up soon,” he told her.
When the car arrived at the school gates, the gatekeeper immediately came out from his guardpost and pressed the remote control to open the electronic gate. He then bowed to the car as he watched it drive off.
Given that foreign vehicles were not allowed in Capital University, it was clear that Lu Chengzhou’s license plate allowed him to drive anywhere he wanted.
…
At Royal Garden.
When Gu Mang came out of the bathroom after her shower, Lu Chengzhou was talking on the phone on the balcony. She took a quick glance at him before she slowly made her way over to the bed. She sat down on the edge and dried her hair with a towel. She then picked up a cup of honey water which had been brewed for her and drank a large amount of it.
Meanwhile, Lu Chengzhou quickly gave some instructions and ended the call as soon as possible when he noticed her from the corner of his eyes.
She was rubbing her hair with a towel when the spot next to her sank slightly and a pair of hands pressed on her head and gently helped her to dry her hair. “Let me do it.”
The entire room was filled with her faint, fruity scent.
Gu Mang let go of the towel and picked up her phone while leaning against his body. She could feel his body heat through her thin pajamas. “You don’t have to accompany me,” she told him all of a sudden.
“Are you so eager to chase me away?” He was done drying the excess water on her head, so he picked up the hair dryer and started blow drying her hair. He then let out a heavy sigh. “You don’t even try to make me stay. How heartbreaking.”
Turning her head, she looked at him, expressionless. “Lu Chengzhou.”
“Mm. Feel free to state your requests,” he said. “Although I’ll only be away for a few days, I’ll miss you dearly and send you timely reports on my whereabouts. I’ll also make sure to keep my virtue as a good husband.”
Gu Mang said nothing as he ran his fingers through her hair.
“You should stay away from those youngsters at school, too. After all, you already have a husband.”
Once again, Gu Mang remained silent.
“I might be older, but I’m capable and rich.” His voice took a serious tone. “You’re still young, so you might get fascinated by the outside world, which is rather worrisome.”
Many of the materials and theses on the table belonged to the seniors in her lab. One of them was named Feng Han and he carefully annotated his work for Gu Mang to follow. Lu Chengzhou did not believe that he was helping his fiancée out of friendliness.
Looking at Lu Chengzhou, Gu Mang suddenly asked, “Who’s the boss of World Restaurant?”
He froze. “Why are you looking for their boss?”
“I want to make a complaint.” She gave him a small smile as she said nonchalantly, “They’ve added a tad too much vinegar to tonight’s dinner.”
Her answer left him speechless and her smile grew wider at that.
As he stared at her smiling face, his eyes darkened a little. A few seconds passed before he hooked her chin with a finger. “Men have to have a little sense of crisis at all times.”
