1454 Way Out
Xi Yue brought Xia Wei out and pushed open the door. The scene outside made Xia Wei suddenly feel that he had arrived at Jiangnan Water Village.
The natural environment here was quite good. There were flowers and green grass, and the lake was connected. It was spring plowing, and the faint fragrance of grass came from the air.
What was most strange was that hundreds of flowers were blooming here. In some seasons, peach blossoms and chrysanthemums shone together. Willows and cedar stood proudly together. Lotuses stretched on the water surface, and fish swam leisurely in the water.
Not far away, someone was farming, some were picking, and some were casting nets to fish.!!
Xia Wei found the climate here strange. What puzzled him the most was the sky here.
The sky here did not seem to change. It would always be blue sky and white clouds.
Over the years, the position of the clouds in the sky had not even moved. This was the peach blossom garden that those scholars could not reach in their lives.
Xi Yue did not find the scenery here strange at all. She had grown up here, but Xia Wei was very curious about the scenery here. As he followed Xi Yue out, he looked around.
Seeing that he was interested in this place, Xi Yue took the initiative to introduce the situation to him.
“It never rains here. Do you see that river? That place is endless. We use well water for living. We usually use the water in this river to irrigate.”
Xia Wei glanced at the river and looked upstream. The river seemed to have come from the sky and he could not see the source.
There was no source of water, but the energy constantly provided water for his clansmen for thousands of years. A hint of obvious surprise flashed across Xia Wei’s eyes.
He was really curious about what kind of place this was to have such a magical environment.
“Do you know that lotus flower? It’s especially sweet. There’s fruit meat inside. I’ll pluck one for you to try later.”
Xia Wei replied and continued to look around. Perhaps because the natural environment here was very good, most of the people had long lives.
At a glance, the seventy to eighty-year-olds were quite healthy and could still work in the ground.
This place had been closed for a thousand years, and no one had ever seen an outsider. Now that they saw Xia Wei, everyone sized him up curiously with some vigilance and hostility.
However, at the same time, there was an obvious probing. Everyone did not even do farm work and looked carefully at Xia Wei, wanting to know how he had entered this place.
After so many years, they had tried all sorts of methods but could not get out, but this outsider had come in. Could it be that there was a secret passage that we had not found?
Sensing everyone’s agitation, Xi Yue waved at everyone. “This person was saved by my father. He’s a good person. Everyone, don’t worry.”
Every clan leader had absolute prestige in the village. When they heard that they had been saved by the village chief, everyone’s hostility towards Xia Wei decreased greatly.
Many children even leaned over to play with Xia Wei, but Xi Yue pushed them away.
“Stop fooling around. This brother is injured. Go to the side and play.”
The young girls looked at Xia Wei shyly. Although the people here had good physiques, there was no lack of handsome young men.
However, it was still rare to see someone as handsome as Xia Wei. Everyone pushed each other, wanting to go forward and talk to Xia Wei.
Xi Yue saw everyone’s enthusiasm and stood in front of Xia Wei. “Alright, alright. Go and work. I’ll bring the guests around.”
With that, Xi Yue jumped onto the boat and looked at Xia Wei beside her. “The lake here is connected to the outside world, but the underground river over there is overgrown, and there’s a huge cliff. No one has ever returned from there alive. I’ll bring you over to take a look.”
Xia Wei boarded the boat and bowed to Xi Yue. It was the standard ancient thank-you gesture. “Thank you, Miss Xi Yue.”
“You’re welcome.” Xi Yue was a little embarrassed by Xia Wei’s salute. “What’s your name?”
Xia Wei’s eyes narrowed. “My surname is Xia, Xia Wan.”
“Xia Wan.” Xiyue repeated the name in her mouth and felt a little strange. Why does it sound so much like a girl’s name? However, it sounded quite nice. “It’s quite nice. Let’s go.”
With that, Xi Yue rowed out with Xia Wei. Xi Yue was very familiar with this place, so she brought Xia Wei around the corners.
This place was not big. Xia Wei estimated that it was only the size of a small town. It was surrounded by mountains on three sides and faced water.
Xi Yue brought him to look afar. There was a huge fault in the north of the town. Just hearing the hollow sound of the water falling, one could tell that it was bottomless.
Xia Wei looked at Xi Yue. “You’ve never left this place??”
“Right.”
“Then you don’t know what happened outside either?” Xia Wei was not sure if it was a thousand years later. If I could revive a thousand years later, did that mean that Xia Wanyuan was???
Thinking of Xia Wanyuan, Xia Wei frowned slightly. He had to quickly think of a way to leave this place. If he could only nest here for the rest of his life, he would rather never wake up.
Looking at the man in front of her, Xi Yue felt a little strange.
Xia Wei was the most handsome man she had ever seen and the strangest man.
She was curious about Xia Wei and liked to follow him all the time. However, after following him for a few days, Xi Yue was even more puzzled. “What are you looking at??”
Ever since she brought Xia Wei around here last time, Xia Wei had always rowed the boat and sat by the cliff in a daze. It was unknown what he was thinking.
However, Xi Yue knew that Xia Wei was different from the men she had known since she was young. There was a light in his eyes that no one else had.
Xia Wei stepped forward and touched the stone that had rolled down from the mountain. Then, he picked it up and sniffed it. “It’s saltpeter.”
“What?” Xi Yue looked at Xia Wei in confusion. “What’s saltpeter?”
“I’m going to look for your father.”
With that, Xia Wei ran towards the village chief’s room.
Now, the village chief fulfilled Xia Wei’s request like an imperial edict. Xia Wei said that he wanted to mine the ores on the mountain. With the village chief’s order, everyone stopped what they were doing and began to help Xia Wei mine the saltpeter.
Time passed day by day. After processing the mined saltpeter, they obtained a batch of gunpowder. Xia Wei got someone to place this gunpowder in the middle of a relatively thin rock layer in the southeast and forcefully blew up a narrow passageway that could be climbed up.
Xia Wei spent an entire day climbing up. However, to his disappointment, the mountains in this place were layer by layer. It was impossible to climb out.
Just as Xia Wei was disheartened, he realized that on the other side of the water, under the cliff, he could vaguely see the horizontal surface.
