Chapter 111 - A Nightmarish Morning

Chen Yi's voice was barely audible, containing in it an indescribable sense of pain.

But after being struck by a sudden bolt of lightning, Li Luxian sobered from the intoxication of her proximity. His eyes widened, he grabbed onto her shoulders firmly yet softly and pulled her back.

Locking his eyes with Chen Yi's hazy brown orbs, he became hesitant.

An ominous feeling emerged in his heart.

"Chen Yi...who were you talking about?"

He searched her eyes for the answer.

For some reason, her words just now felt more than just drunken gibberish to him.

In his mind, several things connected — Was it why she wanted to get intimate with him because she believed someone would separate them?

But who could have such influence to have the ability to instill fear in her heart?

Suddenly, Li Luxian thoughts wandered to that man who had shared a few dance steps with Chen Yi

His inexplicable gaze flashed in his mind.

Come to think of it — Not only did she decide to get drunk after meeting him, but her strange behaviors also kicked off after she exchanged words with him.

How could he overlook such an important detail?

"Yi'er..." After looking back at the silent Chen Yi, he hesitated. "Do you - Do you still not trust me?"

Why would she still keep things from him? When he had bared himself before her, why could she not share her troubles with him so they could come up with a solution? Had his sincerity been insufficient to have her shed her guard? Did she fear that he would leave her after encountering something difficult? Did she not...trust him?

Chen Yi seemed to have picked up on his words. Her hand raised and touched his face with sheer gentleness before she smiled. Laughing lightly, she leaned in and kissed him.

That was her answer.

It's not that she did not trust him.

She just trusted him too much.

While Li Luxian was drunk in her sweet scent, came Chen Yi calculative words.

"Now, let's go to a Bakery!"

.

The morning was a fresh nightmare for Chen Yi. She could not recall the last time she had to experience such a beautiful headache. Groaning, she fumbled under the blanket, pulling it off her face, finally forcing her eyelids up to meet an irritatingly bright light.

"Dammit! I can't miss the class!" Much to her suffering, with that single thought, she abruptly sprung to her feet — only to stumble erratically, falling clumsily right back onto the bed because a raw wave of lightheadedness had assaulted her as soon as she got to her feet.

"There is no need. It's the weekend." She heard a sigh from the corner.

With a blushing face at her erratic play, Chen Yi craned her neck to find Li Luxian dressed in a business suit going through some papers on the couch. With his long legs crossed, he looked elegant as ever.

Sensing her gaze, without saying anything he pointed at the side table.

Shaking his head at her as if a parent would at a child spoiled beyond redemption, he went back to reading the papers.

Chen Yi followed the direction he signaled.

There, on the table, laid a pill and a glass of water.

Propping up her body with her elbows, she reached out to gratefully take the pill. After a few minutes, she felt better — enough to be able to get up without falling back.

A few minutes had passed in peaceful silence when Li Luxian felt something was odd and looked up. He was surprised to find his Yi'er glaring at him with accusing eyes.

"What?"

If there should be anyone who had the right to glare, it was him.

"How could you let me get drunk last night?"

Her glare intensified.

"..."

Chen Yi naturally didn't recall anything that had happened last night after taking the 'unknown' beverage. In fact, she did not even recall the incident where she had taken the drink despite the waiter's meek objection.

Thus, with the limited knowledge of last night at hand, after thinking hard, she could only arrive at the conclusion that it was her hubby's fault.

Shouldn't he be the one responsible for her?

How could he have let her get drunk?

Next, Chen Yi could not decide whether she found it hot or confusing when Li Luxian patiently put down the papers and pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration, finally ending up glaring at her.

"You think it's my fault?" His tone was exceptionally dark.

Chen Yi had never had him talk to him in this tone. It was as if he was harboring a great amount of resentment in his heart.

And he could not be more rightful at that. Because Chen Yi had not fallen asleep till late at night, endowing him a night of pure torture.

If not for the fact that he loved this woman by heart, he would have her tortured to death seven times by now.

"Who else could be at fault for this?" She asked as it came to her naturally.

Li Luxian put his chin under his finger wondering if she was really as clueless as she appeared to be. Did she really not recall all her attempts to 'seduce' him? "How about getting a third opinion?"

"Third opinion?"

"Yes. Why don't we ask Zhang Yufang?"

The moment Li Luxian said that the door to the room opened and a sleep-deprived chauffeur emerged. "Sir, you called for me?" He directly faced Li Luxian with a tired face. Even his voice was raspy.

"Yes," Li Luxian mood appeared to have improved to some extent. "Your miss here seem to have forgotten what hells she had us dragged through last night. Why don't you help me freshen the beautiful memories for her?" Li Luxian even revealed traces of an evil smile.

Chen Yi was not prepared for this.

How did Zhang Yufang come in between everything all of sudden?

"What hell are you talking about?"

Why were there subtle accusations in Li Luxian tone?

How could her 'innocent' self has ever hurt someone in her uninhibited state?
