Sabrina's POV
"So I take it Aiden marking me was a bad thing?" I ask as they all stare at my neck in astonishment.
"Oh honey, it's worse than that. It's bad enough we have an earthling as the moon goddess but now as
my son's mate? We have to undo this!" Aiden's mother says to me and I scoff at her.
"That will not be necessary. I accept the mark and Aiden as my mate, it is my body after all." I say.
"Yes but our family name dragged with it. My son will not be your fourth conquest!" She shouts out
before standing up. Her mate following in on her actions.
"It seems I have lost my appetite." She says as she eyes my neck.
Storming off, she huffs as well. Aiden's father right behind her as we all stay silent.
"Well, that was not how I'd hoped things would go. I mean, I'm all for my brother getting in to trouble but
that was just..." Luka says and we all turn to face him.
"Just apologize for stirring shit you idiot." Leslie says before smacking the back of his head. She stands
up and turns to me,
"It's nice to finally meet you. I know Aiden has dedicated his whole life to finding his mate and I can't
imagine how you both feel with the parents against your union. Just know that Luka and I will stand by
whatever you two decide." Leslie says before leaving the dining room.
"I'm sorry. I was just, I'm sorry." Luka says to me and runs off to be with his mate.
Leaving us with Jane.
Jane was staring at her plate. I never failed to notice the tear filled eyes she was trying to hide, or how
she was holding on to the table so tightly, her knuckles were white.
"Well, that went well." I say trying to break the silence.
"Sabrina, I don't care what my parents say. You are mine and if I have to be disowned by them, then so
be it. I'm a grown man, I don't need my parents approval and they need to respect sacred law." Aiden
blurts out. Catching his breath once he has said what he said.
"When were you going to tell me?" Jane asks.
We both turn to face her, having forgotten she was still in the room.
"WHEN WERE YOU GOING TO TELL ME?" She screams out, her fiery eyes staring right at my mate.
"Okay, take it down a notch Jane." I say. Not liking the tone she was using on my mate.
"I was with you two days ago and you didn't say anything. I was with you yesterday and you still didn't
say a thing. You are aware like everybody else of my feelings for you but you string me along and for
what?" Jane says.
They were together while I was passed out on his bed?
"What?" I ask. Aiden failing to meet my eyes.
"I did not string you along. You were aware, like everyone else in my life how I dedicated my life to my
mate. I saved myself for my mate, you knew I went to earth to learn of her ways so I could understand
her better! You are my friend and I want to spare your feelings but don't blame me for this. You and my
mother have been scheming to have me end up with you but you know better, you should know better
as my friend! You know I'd never choose you over her, it will always be Sabrina. I don't want anyone
else, not you or any other girl in this realm. You know better than to blame me for how you feel. We
have never kissed, never done anything remotely romantic together because I don't see you that way.
You know the way out." Aiden says, grabbing my hand and helping me up.
We walk out of the dining room and make our way back to his room. As we were about to go up the
stairs,
"Son, a word." Aiden's father calls out. Aiden looks at me and I nod my head at him, telling him to go.
I'm a big girl.
He kisses my lips before walking away, to go have a word with his father. Leaving me, at the bottom of
the glass and diamond stairs, touching my lips as I start to miss him.
I watch them disappear in to a room, the door closing behind them.
"Sabrina.. " Aiden's mother coming out from somewhere to meet me here.
"Uh..." I say because as we may have been introduced, but I never got her name.
"Follow me." She says before walking away. I follow behind her slowly, her scent overwhelming me as it
was mixed with some god awful perfume.
We walk in to what looks like a tea room slash lounge room. A tea set was placed on the coffee table
with some baked goods. Clearly she found her appetite..
She sits down and I do the same.
"I'm Eleanor by the way. You know, your mother and I were never friends. In fact, I dont think she ever
had any friends being a halfling and all." She says, her eyes distant as she thinks back to her younger
days.
"She mentioned that." I say and she smiles back at me.
"Good good. Your father on the other hand was my mate's best friend. They were inseparable from the
time they were just babies to adulthood, until they were forced apart. I need you to know that things
work differently here than on earth and our family is very traditional in every way so you can
understand our apprehension with having you as the moon goddess but it's your birthright so who are
we to argue that?" She says and I stay silent.
What can I say to that?
"One thing I can argue though is Aiden. That is my first born son and I can't allow your union." She tells
me. I chuckle at that.
"Well, whether you argue it or not, it is not up to you. We are mates, just like you and your mate, like
Luka and Leslie. There is no separating us." I say.
"I see..." she says to me.
"Luka mentioned you wanting to be with your chosen earthling mate and my son forcing your hand by
marking you and claiming you as his." She says.
"Yes. I was going to be with my chosen mate until he grew old but I'm afraid his life was threatened and
I also couldn't keep fighting the mate pull. Now that I'm marked, I want Aiden. I will stay by his side and
he will stay by mine. He has already unlocked his immortality and you know better than I that one
cannot reject another in this realm." I say and she nods her head yes.
"I will not allow this union Sabrina. I will do everything in my power to make sure it ends. That is my
promise." Eleanor says to me and I nod my head in understanding.
"I feel as if you think because I'm from earth I'm this weak thing. I need you to understand that I say this
with the utmost respect for you because you are Aiden's mother, I am Sabrina of the first family. Your
moon goddess and you need to remember who you are talking to. I'm no earthling, I'm as much one of
you if not more and I will fight you tooth and nail for Aiden. I have never lost a fight, if your friend Ethia
was alive, she would tell you how I ended her. I'm not your equal, I am above you and I will happily
remind you if necessary." I say before standing up and walking out of that room.
Athena was mad.
I was getting annoyed and I honestly had more words for that vile woman.
One thing I know for sure is I can't stay here and now that Aiden had claimed me, he was not staying
here either.
If they want to fight me on this, they will have to come to me.
