Chapter 1501: Untitled
The empress dowager wasn’t exactly nice toward them.
To be more precise, the empress dowager was quite nonchalant toward everyone except for Jun Linyuan.
“Your Majesty —”
Mrs Dugu and Mrs Zuo knelt down to pay their respects.
The empress dowager was excited at first, but her face darkened when she saw that they had come here empty-handed.
The two ladies could sense the change in her mood, but they had no idea what was going on…
“What are you here for?” The empress dowager stared at them.
Mrs Dugu smiled and said, “Your Majesty, we just thought we should visit you. Are you feeling better?”
The empress dowager snorted. “How much better can I get? What’s there to see?”
Mrs Dugu looked rather embarrassed when she heard that.
Just then, Granny Lan came in with a food tray.
The empress dowager looked even more displeased when she saw it, and her face was very dark now.
Seeing the way the old lady frowned like a child, Granny Lan smiled wryly. “Your Majesty, I’ve brought you your meal.”
She then opened the food boxes and set the table.
The boxes contained all kinds of boiled vegetables and fruit with no added sugar, salt, or oil. It was rather unappetizing.
The empress dowager already had to put up with the diet for half a month and had reached her limit.
“Take it away! I’m not eating it! Never!” The empress dowager threw a tantrum like a child.
Granny Lan smiled bitterly. “Your Majesty, you said it yourself: this diet is doing great things for your recovery. Plus, your diet can go back to normal in a few days. Please bear with it for a bit longer.”
The empress dowager glared at Granny Lan and pushed the tray away. She then said angrily, “I’ve been eating it for over two weeks! That’s how long it’s been! One more bite and I’ll throw up! Take them away! I’d rather starve to death!”
Granny Lan smiled wryly.
The empress dowager hadn’t been able to move around a few days ago, so she didn’t have much appetite and didn’t eat much. However, as she got better and her tastebuds started working again, it was getting harder and harder to get her to eat.
“But —”
“Take them away! Right now!”
“But —”
“Did you not hear me?!” With her unfulfilled appetite, the empress dowager was very grumpy.
The two ladies exchanged looks, and Mrs Zuo was the first to figure it out. She then came up with a plan.
She frowned at Granny Lan and said, “Granny Lan, is that what you’ve been feeding Her Majesty? How dare you?”
Feeling wronged, Granny Lan looked at Mrs Zuo in resignation. “My lady, here’s the thing. Her Majesty fell sick earlier, and this diet was set by the physician. It’ll help Her Majesty with her recovery.”
Mrs Zuo rolled up her sleeves. “Really? By a physician? Which one? I’d like to ask them why they would abuse Her Majesty like this.”
Hearing that someone was on her side, the old lady immediately regarded Mrs Zuo as her new best friend. Taking Mrs Zuo’s hand, she turned around and glared at Granny Lan. “That’s right! Which physician gave you that instruction? Bring him here! I’d like to know why he’s abusing me like this and if he has a death wish!”
Granny Lan felt so awkward.
