Chapter 82: Dao Dao Dao
When he was leaving from the small house in the lake, he saw many ghosts flying toward the house.
Some of them had even dragged a player.
‘No wonder I had only seen Xiao Lan, all the other ghosts have gone to lure the players from the nearby monster territory. Looks like Laolao and the ghosts have very high intelligence and know to increase their power!’ He thought to himself as he looked at the players that had been dragged over.
At the same time, it had caused him to raise his alertness. Laolao, the Grandmother, was not an easy foe to fight against. This plot quest was not as simple as he had previously thought as well.
“To be able to be named as one of the ten main plot quests in the game, the Chinese Ghost Story couldn’t be completed that easily!” He shook his head with a bitter smile.
While on his way back to Lanruo Temple, he opened the official message board to check information on the temple.
Since so many players had been caught here and had been drained by Laolao, there definitely would be players that spread the news. And he could probably get some information from the news.
Very quickly, he was able to find some posts on Lanruo Temple from the official message board.
One of them called, “Do not level near Lanruo Temple, there are ghosts that drain your health and spirit!”
The post had a very high reply count, some of those that replied went through the same experience, while some came over to ask about it,
“OP is very right. I was completely blindsided by it. It said that there was a hidden quest just for me, so I followed her. When I reached the place, a tongue entered my mouth and instantly drained me of my HP. Damn, that was so disgusting.”
“+1. I was fooled and brought there too. Even though I died, I managed to get some close interaction with that female ghost. That ass though… If it wasn’t because my level was too low, I would go and try that again!”
“One loser detected in the poster above!”
…
After checking several posts, he didn’t find anything useful at all. So, he logged out of the official message board with disappointment.
“Looks like I need to depend on myself alone to complete this quest. Worse comes to worst, I’ll do this quest when I’m at Level 40!” He said as he shook his head in disappointment when he couldn’t find any information that could be used against Laolao.
He couldn’t defeat a Level 50 Spiritual Level Boss at this point in time. He couldn’t even breach through her defenses, how was he supposed to kill her?
He kept on thinking of ways to kill her, and he eventually reached the entrance of Lanruo Temple and found Ning Caichen under the giant tree.
“Young warrior, how was it? Did you save Yan Chixia?” Ning Caichen excitedly ran towards Jiang Feng and said to him after he saw his return.
“I did save him. Um… I’m not in my human form. How did you know it was me?” Jiang Feng replied to Ning Caichen, but quickly found a problem. He looked at Ning Caichen with surprise as he asked.
“Because I know that you are not human. I knew it since we are at the smithy,” Ning Caichen replied with a smile.
“And you know the Tongue of the Beasts as well?” Jiang Feng asked again.
“Yes.”
…
Seeing the relieved Ning Caichen, Jiang Feng thought to himself, ‘Looks like anyone can accept one of the ten main plot quests. Even monsters can accept it. No matter who accepted it, Ning Caichen would have to undergo some changes depending if a human player or monster had accepted the quest so that it could continue.”
He guessed that if a player accepted the quest, then the quest’s difficulty would be lowered, and he wouldn’t reward him with the White Dragon Blood.
It could be said that what Ning Caichen knew and learned depended on the player or monster that had accepted the quest.
After he understood that, he stopped caring how Ning Caichen knew the Tongue of the Beasts, and simply released Yan Chixia from the Qiankun Gourd.
“Yan Chixia!”
Seeing Yan Chixia, Ning Caichen went to his side full of worries, and said to him in a sad tone, “It is my fault. If it was not because of my request, you would not go and save Xiao Qian, and you would not have suffered such heavy wounds!”
“This had nothing to do with you,” Yan Chixia said to Ning Caichen, then he turned to Jiang Feng. “Little dragon, I have two things to ask of you!”
“What is it?” Jiang Feng knew that it was the second part of the quest.
“First, you need to help me find pills that can heal my injuries. Secondly, go to the Lanruo Temple Dungeon, and find Abbot Lanruo’s golden body that he left behind after he had passed,” Yan Chixia said as his face paled.
Ding! System Prompt: Congratulations, you had completed the first part, Saving Yan Chixia, of “A Chinese Ghost Story” quest. You receive 150,000 experience points and one talisman.
Ding. System Prompt: You have triggered the second part of “A Chinese Ghost Story” quest, “Yan Chixia’s Request.” Will you accept?
“Accept!”
Talisman of Invulnerability: Spiritual Level Talisman. Becomes invincible for 1 minute after use.
“Oh my. The rewards for the first part of the quest were already so good. My experience bar had been filled by 30%, and I got my hands on a talisman that makes me invincible. I wonder what kind of reward they would give me when I clear the second part?” Jiang Feng said thrillingly as he looked at the stats for the Talisman of Invulnerability with his eyes brimming.
With that talisman, it meant that he had an extra life. He could use this one minute’s worth of invincibility to kill enemies, or escape! How practical!
When he put away the Talisman of Invulnerability into his spatial bracelet, he suddenly saw the Life Prolonging Pill in there.
“He wanted me to help him find the pills to heal his wounds, but I don’t even know where to start. But this Life Prolonging Pill should be able to heal his injuries since it can bring people back to life. Heavy injuries should be no problem.”
With that, he took out the Life Prolonging Pill, and gave it to Yan Chixia and said, “Master, will this pill do?”
Since he had received the Talisman of Invulnerability, it meant that he had invincibility. He probably wouldn’t get to use the Life Prolonging Pill any time soon. He should focus on the quests. Not to mention if he wanted more Life Prolonging Pill, he could always draw more.
“A Life Prolonging Pill!”
When they saw the pill that Jiang Feng took out, both Yan Chixia and Ning Caichen were astonished.
“Can this pill heal your wounds?” Jiang Feng asked.
“Yes… But you are willing to give this to me?” Yan Chixia asked as he gulped.
“Not really, but your wounds are my priority right now. As long as it’s worth the use of the pill,” Jiang Feng said.
“Good! Good! Good!” Yan Chixia said “good” three times excitedly, then looked at Jiang Feng cordially and said, “Not only will the pill heals my wounds, it would increase my power as well. Seeing that you are such a kind little dragon, I will teach you the ultimate technique that I had created myself, Dao Dao Dao!”
Ding! System Prompt: Yan Chixia would like to teach you the Spiritual Level Skill “Dao Dao Dao.” Will you accept?
‘Of course, I would. Only idiots won’t.’
That was a Spiritual-Level Skill. While it wasn’t as high as the Yin Yang Union of Joy, it should be quite powerful as well.
“Accept!” Jiang Feng said excitedly.
Ding! System Prompt: Congratulations. You have learned the Spiritual Level skill “Dao Dao Dao.”
