Luke promotd a new secretary when he ran the company. She used to be an ordinary worker. Maybe
it’s Alyssa.
Claire heard from Luke that she is a very capable woman. Claire is not with Leo, so he really needs a
secretary who can help him with his problems. Claire nods gratefully and says, “does President Howard
treat you well?”
Alyssa says, “I’m just following his orders. I’m not as good as you...”
Claire realizes what Alyssa is going to say. Her face changes slightly, but she restrains.
Alyssa covers her mouth and says, “I’m sorry. There are many rumors in the company at present. I may

Claire thinks she isn’t the secretary of the company and is Leo’s girlfriend. She doesn’t have to care

Alyssa sighs and says, “Claire, you are as kind as I have heard. But President Howard is angry

the people who spread the rumors.”
Claire nods. She didn’t expect Leo to do such a thing. And the point is that he does it for Claire, so she
is a little moved.
Alyssa sees Claire distracted. She coughs and reminds, “Claire, what do you think? Who do you think
is spreading these rumors in the company?”

Claire follows Alyssa’s mind. She thinks of Tracy first, but now Tracy and Leo have no engagement.
These rumors have no meaning. If it is a former employee, she won’t be surprised that Leo proposes to
her.

“What’s the matter?” Claire looks at Alyssa’s discontented look and wonders.
“I’m just a secretary and I’ve just been promoted. It’s hard for me to do that.” Alyssa lowers her head.
Claire understands and says, “so you want me to help convince President Howard to forget this?”
Alyssa nods and says, “yes, of course you are the real client, so your opinion is very important. If you
think it’s better to find out those people, I’ll do it regardless of the consequences.”
Alyssa clenches her fist as she speaks and looks very aggressive. She’s a model for new people in the
workplace.
Claire thinks Alyssa is as confident as she was when she first worked in France. She says to Alyssa, “I
don’t care. I’ll talk to Leo. I think he will agree.”
“Thank you, Claire. Please don’t tell President Howard this is my request, OK?” Alyssa is more worried
about this.
Claire nods and says, “don’t worry. I used to be a secretary. I know these little details.”
Alyssa sighs and says, “OK, I can work with you in a few days. I’m really looking forward to...”
“What?” Claire doesn’t understand Alyssa.
Alyssa explains, “I’m President Howard’s secretary for the time being, but you will replace me in a few
days. This is what President Howard himself said.”
Alyssa looks increasingly depressed as she speaks. Claire feels that she has deprived the girl of the
fruits of her success. This process only needs a word from Leo.
It does seem a little unfair. Claire even feels embarrassed. She comforts, “it’s OK. I haven’t agreed yet.

say.

reading and lies on the back of his chair and smiles at Claire.
“I’m so bored that I come to play with you.” Claire sits opposite Leo and puts her hands on the desk.
She puts her head in her hand and looks at Leo innocently.
Leo smiles and plays Claire’s hair with her hands.
“I guess you are bored, so I’ve arranged your work.” Leo pretends to be the boss. “Tomorrow you come
to work. Don’t be late, or you’ll get a pay cut.”

“You know the company’s rules. You used to be my secretary, so it’s easy for you. If you don’t want to
work, you just need to play with me. This is your real job.” Leo chuckles and stares at Claire.
“Work and life should be separated.” Claire frowns and says, “you have a secretary now, and she was
recommended by Luke.”
Leo says discontentedly. “So I put her in another position. You come to work tomorrow.”
Leo is as aggressive and unreasonable as ever.
