The answer was very important to Stefan. It would be the biggest factor in whether the Chi family could
merge with the big ship of the Lancaster family. Not only was Stefan staring, but Nathaniel as well. He
also wanted to know the answer.
Chaim swept a glance at the men in front of him indifferently. His thin lips moved and he was about to
speak when a delicate figure flashed in his mind, too fast for him to grasp, yet making him care
immensely. ‘Who was that?’
Noting Chaim hesitated to answer, instead of lowering his head and admitting there was nothing left
between Eve and Chaim, Stefan shouted to draw Chaim’s attention. "Chaim?"
Chaim's thoughts were interrupted and his brow furrowed in displeasure as his tone became less than
pleasant "What?"
"You never answered my question…"
"It's impossible for Eve and me now," Chaim replied.
This answer, however, caused Stefan to panic even more. ‘Impossible?’ That meant that even though
he still had Eve in his heart, he couldn’t be with her. Why? What about the Chi family? The Chi family
had been on a downward spiral for the past few years. If they couldn’t find a backer, they’d lose their
standing in the social circles.
Stefan hurriedly stepped forward and stood face to face with Chaim. "Chaim, why is this impossible?
You are so concerned about Eve. That means you still have Eve in your heart. Eve has also been..."
"Uncle Chi!" Nathaniel interrupted him with a smile and pulled him aside. "Uncle Chi, you heard what
Chaim said just now. It's impossible for him and Evelyn because he's already married, and the
marriage was still personally picked by Grandpa Lancaster. It’s best for all families if you don’t get
involved."
Chaim nodded "Hm!"
He couldn't let go of Eve, but he didn't want to progress any farther with her. Getting married was one
reason. The other was that he didn't want to repeat the same mistakes.
"It's really impossible?" Stefan's old face changed and changed, still unwilling to let it go.
Chaim's replied again. "Mm!"
Stefan closed his eyes, finally giving up, his old face a bitter smile. "Since that's the case, I won't force
it. What should Eve do then."
"Keep dancing. It's all that matters to her anyway." Nathaniel puffed his shapely manicured nails on his
coat, his tone undisguisedly sarcastic.
In the past, Nathaniel was unimpressed with Alexia at best. Now it was Evelyn and the Chi family he
really despised especially with the way Stefan and Evelyn acted. It was absolutely disgusting. If it
weren't for Chaim, Nathaniel wouldn't have bothered with Evelyn. Compared to Evelyn's behavior three
years ago, Alexia was an angel!
"It's because I’m not good at teaching my daughter." Stefan disliked Nathaniel's words; he was very
annoyed in his heart but he hid it well and didn't show it.
"What are you doing talking to me about your inability to teach your daughter how to behave? You
should talk to Chaim and Grandpa Lancaster." Nathaniel pointed at Chaim.
"All right!" Chaim said, having enough of the topic, and stared at Nathaniel with a black face. "Is there
anything else?"
"Nope, nothing. I'm just getting ready to leave." Nathaniel shrugged, stood up straight, and walked
away with a smile on his face.
Chaim took off his jacket from the shelf and casually slung it over his arm, "Uncle, I’m going to see my
wife now."
"I'll come with you." Stefan also put his own jacket on.
A flash of surprise crossed Chaim's eyes. "You will?"
"Yes." Stefan carried a few boxes of valuable tonic products and explained. "Alexia saved Eve, so I
should go and thank her personally."
Chaim wanted to refuse but gave up. It was only because he found himself in no position to refuse on
behalf of Alexia. After all, she was the one who donated the bone marrow, and now she was the one
others wanted to thank and he has no business standing in the way.
Chaim didn't say anything and walked ahead. Along the way, Stefan asked questions, intentionally or
unintentionally asking him about how he and Alexia met and how they got married, and so on.
Chaim returned a few words occasionally until he reached the door of Alexia's room. Stefan suddenly
realized that he had asked so many questions, but didn't ask anything useful and his heart was
extremely frustrated.
"Mr. Lancaster, there you are." Aunt Song opened the door and showed no emotion when she saw
Chaim.
She was an elderly member of the Lancaster family and had been assigned by Grandpa Lancaster to
take care of Alexia so she didn’t fear Chaim. Chaim didn't mind Aunt Song's rudeness and nodded as
he walked into the room.
Stefan smiled at Aunt Song and followed him inside. Aunt Song looked at him a few seconds, only to
find that he looked familiar, but couldn't remember where she’d seen him before.
"Could it be the new driver Mr. Lancaster recruited?" Aunt Song muttered as she looked at the large
bags Stefan was carrying in his hands.
Stefan hadn't entered the room, plus Aunt Song's voice wasn't low, so he heard her and almost
dropped the bags and broke his foot.
"Chaim." Alexia knew Chaim was there, but she couldn't raise her head so she waited for him to come
closer before she turned to look at him, "You're here?"
"Mm." Chaim nodded slightly, looking at her pale face with a weak look, his heart and voice softened.
"How are you feeling?"
"I’m okay." Alexia smiled back.
That was a lie. She only her surgery yesterday, so even if her body was good at healing itself, she
wouldn’t be feeling okay yet. She was in so much pain she couldn’t even go to the bathroom by herself,
and could only move her neck and head. She only said she was okay because she didn't want him to
worry, although she wasn't sure he would worry about her either way.
"Huh?" Alexia's gaze was drawn to the person behind Chaim. "This is..."
"Hello, Ms. White." Stefan put down the pile of supplements he was carrying and walked over to the
bedside to introduce himself to her with a smile, "I'm Evelyn's father."
"Ms. Chi's father?" Alexia asked surprised.
How did Evelyn's father get here?
"He's here to thank you," Chaim saw her confusion and explained.
"Right, right." Stefan nodded repeatedly, "Ms. White, thank you very much for saving my daughter's life.
I don't know how to thank you. Thinking about it, I can only send more tonic up. I hope you don't mind."
"You're welcome, Mr. Chi." His attitude was so sincere, Alexia was a little embarrassed and her face
redden. "I didn't do anything. I was quite happy to be able to save Ms. Chi."
She didn't mean to do that. Although she didn't like Evelyn, she agreed to donate the bone marrow at
first for her own selfish reasons. But it was still somewhat comforting to know her bone marrow saved a
life.
"You’re too kind. No wonder you gained Master Lancaster's fancy." Stefan complimented.
Alexia smiled sheepishly and didn't answer respond. Chaim's eyes darkened as he stared at her.
Seeing that Stefan had been standing, Alexia pointed to a chair on the side. "Please sit down, Mr. Chi."
Stefan thanked her and sat down, continuing to stare at her face. The more he looked, the deeper his
frown became. Alexia was a little embarrassed and quite uncomfortable by Stefan’s look, so she hastily
pulled the corner of Chaim's coat, hoping he could help her.
Chaim moved untraceably to his left once, blocking her behind him. "Uncle, what are you looking at?"
Chaim looked down at Stefan with a sullen face, and his eyes held a bit of displeasure.
If it was any other time, Stefan would have smiled and dared not look around. However, he was
fearless and leaned around Chaim and continued to stare at Alexia. "Ms. White, you have a good
face."
