The corner of Alexia's mouth tugged slightly, but she didn’t respond. In fact, she knew all about Chaim's

visit to the hospital in the past few days. But she wondered why he hadn’t come to see her. Aunt Song

had another fit about it and almost called to tell Master Lancaster, but Alexia stopped her before she

could.

"Sister, are you alright?" Nathaniel asked in a low voice, looking at Alexia's thin body.

Alexia gathered her thoughts, shook her head, and smiled. "I’m fine, thank you Dr. Hardy for taking

care of me these days."

"Don’t thank me for the care, it's my duty as a doctor. You have to take care of it when you go back

home." Nathaniel reminded her.

Alexia gave a soft humph and closed her suitcase.

"Is Ms. White in, please?" a soft female voice suddenly called from outside the door.

Alexia and Nathaniel looked over together, only to see a wheelchair sitting outside the wide-open door

of the room at some point. Evelyn was sitting in it with a smile on her face.

"Why are you here?" For some unknown reason, Nathaniel took a few steps forward and blocked

Alexia behind him.

Alexia was also frozen in shock.

"You're here too, Nathaniel." Evelyn looked at Nathaniel with a slightly surprised expression.

Nathaniel frowned. "Is it a problem for me to be here? It's you. What are you doing here? Do you know

you've only just finished your operation, who told you to wander around? I hate disobedient patients!"

"Nathaniel, don't be angry." Evelyn controlled the wheelchair and entered the ward, her eyes glancing

behind him intentionally. "I came here to see Ms. White."

"You came to see me?" Alexia poked her head out from behind Nathaniel.

"Right!" Evelyn smiled tenderly at her. "In fact, I've been worried about Ms. White’s health. I even asked

the nurse to come over to you a few days ago to ask Ms. White about her condition, but the nurse

didn't make things clear, and there was a misunderstanding. I'm really sorry about that, Ms. White."

"Misunderstanding?" Alexia pursed her lips and mentally rolled her eyes.

That woman, as usual, said one thing and did another. What did she mean by having the nurse come

over and ask Alexia how she was doing? The truth was that everyone in the room knew exactly what

the truth was, and they even saw Nathaniel looking away and snickering!

"Ms. White." Evelyn narrowed her eyes. "You don't seem to believe my words much."

"No!" Alexia gave a perfunctory smile. "Let's consider it all a misunderstanding. It’s in the past, so Ms.

Chi should not mention it again."

Alexia was in a hurry to get out of the hospital, not bothering to fight the hypocritical woman.

"Since Ms. White has said so, I'll respectfully do as I'm told." Evelyn nodded, then her eyes fell on the

suitcase beside Alexia. “Ms. White what are you—"

"I'm getting out of the hospital," Alexia said, patting her suitcase.

Alexia’s whole brow rose when she spoke of her discharge from the hospital.

Evelyn looked at her flushed face and a touch of jealousy crossed her eyes. "So soon, huh?"

"What? Do you mean you want your sister-in-law to stay in the hospital for a few more days?"

Nathaniel pushed up his glasses.

Evelyn's expression stiffened for a moment and quickly returned to natural. “What are you talking

about, Nathaniel, I just envy Ms. White for her good recovery and being discharged so quickly. I don't

know when I will be discharged," she sighed moodily.

Nathaniel, however, spoke to Evelyn unmercifully. "It's early, you won't be thinking about it for a few

months."

Evelyn gave him a pouting glare. "Nathaniel, can't you be more hopeful?"

"I'm a doctor. Telling the truth is a responsibility to my patients, got it?" Nathaniel said in a greasy voice.

"Nathaniel you—" Evelyn bit her lip, looking like she was about to cry.

Alexia was afraid that Evelyn would cry out and disturb the patient next door, so Alexia spoke up

quickly to comfort her. "Don't be sad, Ms. Chi, your operation has been successful, I believe you will be

discharged from the hospital soon."

"Maybe." Evelyn lifted her thin, bony hand and gently wiped the wetness from the corners of her eyes.

"This operation was a success, but next time—"

"Evelyn!" Nathaniel's face changed to one of rage as he bellowed.

As if she had only then realized she said the wrong thing, Evelyn hurriedly faked a smile. “So, Ms.

White, have you packed your luggage?"

"Yes?." Alexia looked at her suspiciously, then at the man beside her.

Why did she feel as if those two were hiding something?

"Now that we're packed, can we talk?" Evelyn smoothed the wig on her head.

Alexia's heart sank. "Talk about what?"

Evelyn did not reply but looked at Nathaniel. "Nathaniel, can you please give us a moment? I want to

talk to Ms. White alone."

"What do you think?" Nathaniel asked for Alexia's opinion.

Alexia was silent for a few seconds. “Dr. Hardy, you should give us a moment, since Ms. Chi is here, it's

not good to let her make a trip for nothing."

"Okay, I'm going out." Nathaniel turned and headed for the door.

As he passed by Evelyn, he suddenly leaned down to her ear and whispered a warning. "Evelyn, don't

mess around and don't do anything to her, you hear me!"

Evelyn hooked her lips and whispered back in the same way. "Nathaniel, you seem to care about her a

lot."

There was a quick flash in Nathaniel's eyes, which was fleeting, without admitting or denying her

words. "I’m telling you not to mess around."

"Don't worry about it." Evelyn lowered her eyes and looked at her hands, which looked like white

bones, disgust was written all over her eyes. "In my current physical state, I can't do anything even if I

wanted to."

"That’s for the best," Nathaniel said as he left.

Evelyn closed the door of the room behind her and wheeled the wheelchair to Alexia.

Alexia, however, took two steps back to put distance between her, her whole body very alert.

Evelyn smiled playfully. "What’s wrong, Ms. White? I don't eat people so is there really a need to be so

afraid of me?"

"I can't help it. I've already learned my lesson twice. I'm afraid if I stand too close to Ms. Chi she may

have another accident and I won't be able to say anything. It’s better to stay away," Alexia said in a cool

and restrained manner.

Hearing the sarcasm in Alexia's words, Evelyn's heart surged with hostility, but it was quickly

suppressed.

"Ms. White is joking. Don’t worry, I won't do anything to you this time. I just want to know, what tactics

exactly did you use to gain Grandpa Lancaster’s approval to marry Chaim?"

Once, a long time ago, after all the effort Evelyn put into pleasing that old man, he refused to relent and

let her Chaim Marry. But the woman in front of her, who was inferior to Evelyn in every way, was loved

by that old man, and she just couldn't understand or think about it! What was so great about Alexia,

who has no family background and no looks? Why should she marry Chaim?

"Tactics?" Alexia asked exasperated. "Ms. Chi, did you come here to suggest I used tricks to marry into

the Lancaster family?"

"Didn’t you?" Evelyn sneered. “I had the nurse come talk to you the other day to talk to you about this,

but you refused to see me with no sense. So I had to call Chaim."

"Don't you think your behavior is disgraceful?" Alexia questioned as she dug her nails into her palms.

Evelyn covered her mouth and laughed out loud. "I don't think so, I just know that no one has ever

dared to reject me, and I won't allow anyone to reject me, not to mention you, not even Chaim! Your

rejection is a provocation to me, so naturally, I have to teach you a lesson!" Evelyn slapped the armrest

of her wheelchair full of emotion, her expression crazed, Alexia no longer seeing a trace of Evelyn’s

gentle, orchid-like appearance.

Alexia looked at Evelyn and silently took two more steps backward.

This was perhaps what Lynn calls a sickly girl. ‘Such people are just too dangerous!’

"Alexia, you must divorce Chaim!" Evelyn suddenly spoke in a shocking manner.
