CHAPTER FORTY-SIX;

Other side

--

Augustine?

Sheryl's heart thumped loudly against her chest.

Her laid back posture straighten and her eyes was looking fiercely at the boy.

Kai doesn't know the meaning behind her glare but he also doesn't care. He calmly shifted his eyes

away and looked outside the shop.

Sheryl didn't have the time to scrutinize his action as her mind was running in fast pace to the point that

even she can't stop it.

'Augustine?' She asked herself. 'Is it the Augustine I know? No, that's not possible. There are many

Augustine in the world, it's impossible to be him.'

But no matter how hard she tries to deny it, a big fat fact is presented in front of her; it isn't impossible

no matter how hard she made it sound.

Amidst the ruckos inside her mind, she managed to ask Kai. She was low-key panicking and when she

was about to ask the kid, she almost dive in front of him and clamp his small shoulders.

Good thing she wasn't planning on shamming herself and stopped just in time.

She tried her best to ask calmly. "Kai- Kai is your name, right?" She didn't wait for his response. "Can

you tell me you whole name?"

Kai stared for a while and it made her anxious. She wants to him to hurry before his mother- Althea,

comes back and block her opportunity to know the truth.

The boy knows nothing about her inner dilemma. He jump off the chair he was sitting and walked

towards the back of the counter. Sheryl almost yelled at him and grab his small arms just to stop him

but she swallowed it down.

Kai reached out for something behind the counter and then presented it to her. Sheryl had no clue what

it was but she still accepted it.

It was a thin card, and when she read what it was, she discovered that it was his identification card.

Like a hawk spying its prey, she read the name of the owner of the card.

In bold letters, a name was imprinted on it; Alexander Kai G. Bryne.

With that, her suspicion was confirmed. She almost forgot how to breath.

' It's really him!' She exclaimed. ' He's the father?!'

She stared at him in silence and he stared back with the equal silence. Now that she think of it, he does

looks like Augustine. It's faint but when you know their connection and think, he does carries

resemblance of him.

But his eyes, it's awfully a carbon copy of his mother. Mostly of his features are from her too, that's why

you can't really see it.

She furrowed her brows and her temple throbbed.

If she's not mistaken, that guy is already married. She's certain that it's not Althea because she was

there in the wedding ceremony.

Although she can't remember her name, she can still remember the wife's distinct characteristic.

It caught her attention- that was wrong- it caught everybody's attention. It was; her silvery eyes that

gives off a fiant radiance whenever it was exposed to the light. Her hair has a hint of silver too. It was

odd but appealing at the same time so there's no way she could forget about that certain person.

Sheryl looked at Kai, "How old are you again?"

"Five."

After recieving the answer, she turned around and walked away, exiting Althea's flower shop without

saying a word.

She ignored the gazes that Althea's staffs gave her and opened the door. Her mind was completed trap

inside the loop of her thoughts.

'He's 5 years old, and it was exactly 5 years ago when the two got married. I can't believe that Althea

got pregnant by a married man.' She opened the door of her car. 'And assuming that they are really the

parents, no, scratch that- because they are really the parents...'

She slammed the door shut as soon as her butt hit the seat.

'Then that kid- Kai- is Tyler's...' She gritted her teeth and glared at nowhere before opening her mouth

to speak to her driver who was completely frozen in front of the wheel.

"Let's go back." She coldly ordered.

"Yes ma'am." The driver answered her like an automatic robot and drove away.

Sheryl looked outside of the car and at the passing scenery.

Her brows are still furrowed and her eyes were still dark. Her fierce glare was also still up.

'Althea and Tyler, no matter how boulders the world gave to block the paths that leads to the two of

you, another path just keeps on opening up.'

-

Althea stayed at the backyard for just a minute before she decided to go back inside.

Although she doesn't want to, she's not rude enough to just push everything to Melanie and escape

from Sheryl's annoying presence.

When she entered the shop, there was only Melanie and Kai inside. Her brows raised. "Where's she?"

Melanie helplessly smiled and shrugged her shoulders. "She just suddenly left."

"Hmm," Althea said. "I thought we will be having a heart to heart talk?"

Melanie laughed, "I don't know. I just took my eyes from her for a second and then she just kinda

walked away. I don't know what kind of thing she and Kai was discussing that made her look like she

just eat meat despite being a vegetarian."

Her remarks made Althea laughed. "Too bad I wasn't here."

She oh-so love to see that kind of reaction.

She turned to face Kai. He was still on the chair like how she left him behind. Very obedient.

She pursed her lips and asked herself, 'What kind of shit does his private tutor teaches my son? Is he

hitting him or something to make him as obedient as he is? I'll better ask Charlotte about this.'

"Kai," she called. "What did you told Sheryl?"

Her son shook his head, "I told her nothing. I just handed this to her."

He gave his Identification card to Althea. She raised her brows after recieving it and can't come up with

any rational idea why she reacted like 'she just eat meat despite being a vegetarian', as what Melanie

said.

'Well,' she shrugged her shoulders. 'I don't really care.'
