CHAPTER SEVENTY-SEVEN:

Silver hair and Silver Eyes

--

Afternoon that day.

A door opened violently that it banged against the wall. The loud noise took the attention of the medical

staffs on the floor and the near by patients. They all took a curious peek to see what’s going on. They

didn’t dare to go near, and just watched as a woman, wearing a sophisticated dress, barged inside a

familiar room. Even though they only saw her back, they can guess that she was pretty and gorgeous.

Her features were that from rich peoples, but what differentiate her from other rich people was her hair.

It was silvery. Like the moon’s hue and color. It shone like metal against the fluorescent light on the

ceiling.

The woman entered the room, and no one knows what happened after that.

But all the witnesses left wondering; who was that patient inside that room? She was visited by people

with high statuses in a matter of day.

They were curious, but none tried to ask because they might offend whoever is inside that room. Who

knows what will happen next?

--

Becca was in the middle of peeling the apple for Althea when someone suddenly barged in in their

room. The two inside ceremoniously stopped what they are doing and turned to the door. When Althea

saw the familiar silver hair and silver eyes, the small smile on her face vanished and her tired but

cheerful aura was suddenly replaced by cold air.

Becca and Althea were just talking about small things, it was solemn and peaceful. The air was light

and easy, so when it went down, Becca noticed it.

She’s not as dense as everyone thinks she is, so when she saw her boss’s reaction; cold and fierce

towards the other- she puts the fruit knife down and the apple on the plate she prepared it and slowly

crept to go outside.

She didn’t even crossed half of the room yet when Althea opened her mouth and addressed the lady.

And as Becca thought, the boss really knows her.

”Charlotte…”

Charlotte, a familiar name. Becca tried to search her memories and remembered that it was the name

of Althea’s friend. Becca again took a brief glance to Charlotte and saw her restless demeanor.

Although she is like that; she was able to hold her grace and beauty.

Charlotte bit her lower lip and searched Althea’s eyes with her silver ones. “Althea…”

For the first time, she didn’t miss her name. She actually landed it right and called out her name. Althea

opened her mouth- but before she can even talk, buds of transparent waters flowed out from her eyes.

She choked back her words and let out a strangled sob. Charlotte dropped her etiquette and hastily ran

towards her and thrown herself on Althea, then hugging her tightly.

That was the lasting Becca saw before she closed the door and walked away, wondering where she

can sit and wait so she can enter again when everything’s okay.

--

” I’m sorry.” Charlotte said while caressing her back. The body in her embrace was shaking. She was

hugging her tightly and Althea just leaned her whole weight on her.

“I hate you…” Althea managed to squeeze out that word between her sobs. “I hate you…!”

“I know…” Charlotte said, even though she didn’t know. Hearing her cry and say she hates her makes

Charlotte want to cry along with her. She stopped herself and gave her back a mental pat for being

strong. “I’m sorry.”

It took many ‘I hate you’ and ‘I’m sorry’ more before Althea calmed down. After they calmed down, both

of their eyes were red and swollen. They searched for the tissues and can’t find them on the table. It

made Althea laughed.

“What is this, we don’t even have a tissue! If I know, I should not have cry! My snot- I need to wipe it

off!”

“Use the sheets then.” Charlotte suggested. She dodged when Althea throwed a pillow on her. “What

are you doing?!”

“Are you stupid or something,” Althea glared at her. “That’s disgusting. You’re the wife of Augustine

Byrne- one of the youngest CEOs, act like one!”

Charlotte’s eyebrows twitched. “Why would I care about my image just because of my husband’s

image? His image can be destroyed however the world wants; I don’t care.”

Althea gaped at her, thinking how the loving and sweet Charlotte to her husband turned like this. She

shuts her mouth when she thought about maybe they had a lover’s quarrel. Meh, children!

Althea sighed and shook her head, whatever. “You- go get me a tissue somewhere! I need to wipe my

face off!”

“You don’t like your face anymore?”

“…” She threw another pillow at her, this time, it hit her. Charlotte groaned. “Bitch do you want me to

punch your face so that even your husband can’t recognize you anymore?”

Charlotte stood up, “How dare you turn the wife of Augustine Byrne as your slave, Maria.”

“Althea.” She corrected her, tired with how she forgets about her name. “Do haste, Mrs. Byrne. I need

the tissue now.”

Althea watched Charlotte disappear and appear from the bathroom’s door, she was carrying a roll of

tissue. Toilet tissues.

“Charlotte-“

“Shut it- they’re tissues, they’re the same.”

Althea obediently shuts her mouth and used the toilet tissue despite the different texture. Charlotte

looked around and sat on the sofa. She watched on silence as Althea wipes her face.

“I’m sorry again…” Charlotte slowly said, breaking the silence. “I… If I knew this would happen, I would

not have forced you to come in my stead- It’s really my fault-“

“Hush, Charlotte,” Althea threw the used tissues in the bin next to her bed. “I don’t want to talk about it

anymore. Besides, they are dead. Karma really is a bitch-“

She paused and pursed her lips, “… She immediately responded and killed those bastards…”

She turned silent. Charlotte talked before her mood went downhill again. “By the way, where’s Lai?”

“Kai.” She paused, then said hesitantly. “He’s… With someone… Currently.”

“Oh.” Charlotte raised a brow. “Oh, I reckon that you trust this person very well to leave him in their

care. May I know who he is?”

Althea glared at her again. She hasn’t seen her for awhile and she’s already talking differently. This girl

is getting weirder and weirder each time they meet. “No one! Just- someone!”

“Dear Althea,” she cooed. “Tell me please- I’m your ‘only’ friend! Why are you hiding it from me?”

“You-“ she can’t refute. She sighed loudly and rolled her eyes heavenwards. She’s stressing her out,

the stress level is incomparable from she got from the other visitors earlier. “I’m not trying to hide

anything from you.”

“Liar!” She picked up the pillows on the floor and threw them to her. “I’ll hate you too if you won’t tell!

You already hate me, so I have nothing to lose!”

“Who said-“ she remembered saying that she hates her. Althea paused once again and groaned inside.

She wants to fall unconscious again than dealing with her. She’s already throwing a tantrum! “Fine!

He’s with Tyler.”

Charlotte’s eyes widen and she leaned forward. “Ooohh-“

Seeing her goofy smile, Althea’s contorted.

I knew-

“Who’s Tyler?”

-it…?
