Chapter Seventy-two:

A Look of Disdain

--

The restaurant is not crowded and very few people are dining in. They all looks elegant and refined, the

have this classy air in them, making the ordinary people that is peeking out from the glass wall to look

at them with envy and admiration.

There are still people that are having their lunch, as they talked with themselves in whispers, their eyes

will occasionally wander to wards a certain spot.

It was where Tyler and the others were sitting at. Well, in actuality, it was only Tyler who was sitting.

Augustine, Kai were standing in front of each other. Kai was looking up at the other with an

indiscernible emotion in his eyes.

Sharon was also standing up, originally, she thought of sitting on her boss's table, but when she saw

the unmoving boy, she looked at the two with complicated emotions.

She noticed that something is amiss, but she did not voice it out.

Tyler was oblivious since he can see things one sided. Since Kai's back is facing him, he can't see his

face. All he know is he's frozen in place while Augustine was still smiling down at him. A very rare

emotion of him. It was the first time Tyler saw it.

He raised a brow and said, "Augustine, stop smiling. See, the kid is frozen, you scared him."

Augustine also noticed it, so the expression was completely wiped out from his face. Sending Tyler a

piercing glare, he looked at Kai with no emotion in his eyes again. It was a look of looking at a stranger.

"Ah," Kai uttered under his breath, he noticed that he was frozen and forgot to take the other's hand.

He grew nervous.

Pursing his lips into a thin, fine line, he glanced up at Augustine anxiously before taking his hand. He

almost flinched at the contact. The older man's hand was cold, it was big and cold.

"Hello," Kai ignored his temperature. "My name is Alexander Kai. Uhm, you can call me Kai."

Augustine said hi and shook their hand. After that,he sat back on his seat. The table was for four, so

Sharon and Kai also took a seat. They sat across each other, Tyler was on Kai's left, while Augustine

was on his right.

Tyler ordered the staffs to transfer the food from the other table to theirs. After that, Tyler and Augustine

talked about business. Sharon listened and took notes of the important details while Kai remained

silent the whole time.

Their talk ended together with their lunch. Augustine announced that he's going and asked if Tyler's

going back to his office.

Tyler shook his head."No, I'm visiting Althea at the hospital."

"Oh." He didn't asked anymore.

As Tyler was settling the bill, Augustine head out.

Augustine is a tall, fine man. He stood so straight and his figure was lean. He was only carrying a

suitcase and was wearing a thee-pieced suit, but he was very intimidating.

Most of the people he encounters going in the parking lot avoided his eyes.

It didn't took long before he reach his car. He opened the door and throw the suitcase in. He was about

to enter the car, but a small voice stopped him

"Father."

He paused. One of his hand was leaning on the door while the other was trying to loosen up his tie.

Heaing someone call him like that, his eyebrow twitched.

Pursing his lips, he turned around and looked down at the boy who called him father.

It was Kai.

He was staring straigt at him with his aquamarine eyes, it was the same eyes as his mother.

Something in Augustine twitched.

He looked behind Kai and saw that no one is following him. It seems like the boy slipped away. He

frowned and deeply cursed Tyler inside his head.

He stared back down to the boy and said nothing.

As he thought that they will only stare at each other in silence, the boy opened his mouth.

"Father, I-"

Augustine sighed loudly. Kai quickly shut his mouth and watched as the other impatiently took his tie off

his neck.

After removing his tie, he looked at the other with disdain.

The look made the boy whimper silently. He looked down and looked his two shoes.

"Kai." He sighed again. "Did I not told you? Outside,"

"Don't think of me as your father."

With that words as parting words, he entered the car without looking back, shut the door, then drove

away.

Kai was left alone, looking at the car that is getting smaller and smaller as the distance between them

grow larger.

"Kai." He sighed again. "Did | not told you? Outside,"

"Don't think of me as your father."

With that words as parting words, he entered the car without looking back, shut the door, then drove

away.
