JENNIFER'S POV
There at the frame of the door, stood a visibly worried lady, eyeing me with concern most probably
because of my dishevelled state. The lady certainly in here late 40s, looked at me with worry oozing out
of her soft, gentle features. I stared at her, with no emotion on my face. I let my body go loose and as a
result I fell on the bed on my hips, with a soft thud.
I didn't realize when she came up to me and started shaking me by my shoulders, gently trying to pull
me back from my reverie.
"Madam, are you alright? You look pretty shaken up..." she said while shaking me, now a little more
briskly with her hands. That made me move out of my trance. I blinked rapidly, adjusting my brain to the
facts, assumptions and the rumors surrounding me.
"Mam, you look too tired. The Marraige shall take place within the next 2 hours. Please eat something
and take rest till then. We shall look after the makeup and anything else which can help you relax." She
said as she held me by my elbow and helped me lean back on the headrest of the bed.
Although I was feeling extremely exhausted and emotionally drained, still her words did the thing of
pissing me off. I was not a freaking doll especially present there for them to show their beauty strokes
and make me look no less than a barbie!
"First of all, sieze that 'madam' thing will you? Secondly, I am being forced in this marriage so it shall be
very kind of you if you leave me and my messed up makeup alone. And as for the matter of relaxing is
concerned, please give your boss a few drops of cyanide in his protein shake or such stuff and yeah! I
shall be relaxed like never before!" I snapped. She flinched on my rude outburst but didn't speak a
word back. I felt guilty for being harsh on her because of my personal agendas.
"Madam.. I... I mean" she stuttered. "Its Jennifer for you aunty." I interrupted her and gave her a
comforting smile. She smiled a little too.
"Jennifer, you must not go against the instructions of Dhanush. He will not like it. And then I... you.."
By now, I had understood that the devil was ruthless like the vultures, cruel like a bloodthirsty
conquerer. If it were on him, he would have met 'kindness' in a dark alley and strangle her to death.
Then he would look for her little sister 'Generosity' and kill her too! And I didn't want him to experiment
his wrath on this poor lady standing in front of me, that too because of my stubbornness so unwillingly
though, I agreed to bend as per his will, for now.
NOTE THE WORDS :- for now
"It's ok, aunty. I shall eat something and lie down. You do what ever it needs to fix this whatever I have
messed up... and I am really sorry for it." I replied, with an apologizing smile.
She nodded and waved off saying,"This is our job Jennifer, there is nothing to apologize for."
With that she moved towards the counters near the mirrors looking for different shades of eyeshadow,
blush and God knows what more. I on the other hand made my way to the food trolley.
It had numerous dishes placed in two compartments. While one had starters and all sorts of mocktails,
the other side had 6 to 7 types of breads only, with paneer delicacies and around 5 sweet dishes. And,
as habits die hard, my fingers automatically moved towards the desserts. I wasn't in a state to gobble
all of the items. So I settled with some kheer.(a type of sweet dish made up of rice, milk and dry fruits)
I emptied it in a few minutes and to be honest, each spoon made me feel like I was in heaven.
Absolutely delicious! If I had been in a better state of mind, I would have certainly dived on the other
dishes too. But as my case was different, I put a stop. I put the nordic style bowl down and went to the
bed. I slumped back there, and instantly my eyes drooped.
Soon, I felt multiple hands working on my face, neck. Some adjusting the ornaments while the others
correcting the makeup. But I didn't bother opening my eyes, I was way too tired to greet any of them
and rightaway look for any allies among them.
Each passing day of my life was definitely proving out to be a new chapter of some thriller novel with an
unexpected twist with every page. And that was definitely affecting me, my life.
Just then, the door clicked and someone came in.
"The preparations are done. The marraige shall begin now. Send her downstairs." The male voice said.
And as if in cue, my body had already turned rock solid and stiff as palpitable fear engulfed me. The
time had come, I had to face him again and the worst part was.....
I could not run away.
