You Took Advantage Of Me
Eliana was sound asleep on her bed after lunch.
All of a sudden, her phone rang, waking her up.She fumbled for the phone with her eyes closed before
she lazily answered, "Hello?"
"It’s Corbin,"
Although Eliana was surprised to hear from him, she emphasized in a kind voice, "Corbin, I have
resigned."
She had already left her job at the Moran Group, so was there even a need for him to call her now?
Hearing her words, Corbin couldn’t help but complain in his heart, ‘What a heartless woman! It’s no
wonder that she is able to conquer my cold-hearted boss!’
Thinking of that, Corbin forced himself to stay calm as he reminded her, "Of course, I remember that!
But Mr.Moran has asked me to settle accounts with you."
What kind of account was he even talking about? Eliana sensed something fishy at the mention of
money.She immediately jumped up from her bed.
Corbin continued, "Miss Pierce, the reward for you accompanying Mr.Moran to the dinner party was
originally one million dollars, and it was later doubled to two million dollars, right?"
"Is there a problem with that?" Eliana asked in reply, frowning.
Corbin cleared his throat.
"Well, the dress you wore at the dinner party…"
Eliana’s heart rose to her throat.
Did they really find out that the dress was torn? But she tried her best to repair it to its original
condition…
"Well… There is nothing wrong with the dress."
Hearing that, Eliana breathed a sigh of relief.
"But do you remember the matching brooch that Mr.Moran pinned on the dress?"
Those words made her feel like a bolt of lightning had struck her.She suddenly remembered that things
had been so chaotic that night that she had completely forgotten about the brooch.
"Mr.Moran lent you the brooch, and now, it is missing.It is worth three million dollars.After your two
million dollars’ reward is deducted, you are in a debt of one million dollars, Miss Pierce."
Eliana was shocked and could not help but scoff in disbelief.She couldn’t accept it at all.
Apparently, she had worked so hard for nothing.
And now Corbin was telling her that she owed Maurice money? Eliana was in a daze.
Before she could even think properly, Corbin urged, "Mr.Moran knows about your financial situation, so
he has kindly provided you with two solutions.You can choose either of the two options.Your first option
is to come back to the company and work with us till your debt is settled, and your second option is to
face us in court.The Legal Department of the Moran Group will contact you."
Eliana was rendered speechless.
How could he say that Maurice kindly provided her with two solutions? There were two roads in front of
her, and both were dead ends.
That day, she had felt that Maurice had agreed to her resignation too easily.
Now, she realized that he had only agreed to it because he already had a backup plan.
After hearing about it, she was not feeling sleepy anymore.She got out of bed and rushed to the Moran
Group.
Corbin was waiting at the entrance as he greeted her warmly.
"Welcome…"
"Shut up!"
Gritting her teeth, she glared at him.
Corbin felt that she was as overbearing as Maurice.
Sulking, he shut up.He was only following Maurice’s orders, so why did people always give him the
cold shoulder? Eliana stormed into the CEO’s office.
And without Corbin, the other assistants couldn’t stop her at all.
One of them just followed her into the CEO’s office.
Maurice, who was busy with work, looked up.
