Arc 13: Wild Beast Plains | Chapter 233: Beast Tide Battle

Xu Ziqing was surprised and swiftly flicked his fingers. Instantly, the bitter bamboo pin shot out from above his head, creating a green light curtain. A refreshing breath flowed like water, swiftly dispelling the poisonous and sweet fragrance of blood.

The bitter bamboo, traditionally used for purifying the mind, is an ancient relic. While not impervious to all poisons, it resists most of them. After Xu Ziqing refined it, it gained the ability to safeguard the spiritual Spirit and repel inner demons with its voiceless sound. Now, when used, it proved magically effective against the blood-poisonous beams. Soon, Xu Ziqing felt invigorated, easing up a bit and acknowledging that his strength had its limits, but the blood-poisonous beam, akin to a giant net, could be handled by his senior brother.

As anticipated, Yun Lie shared a tacit understanding with him and raised his hand to retrieve the golden sword first. Subsequently, the massive golden sword soared with a flick, fragmenting into hundreds of blades. These thinner golden swords promptly transformed into a sword formation, scattering in all directions.

The light net shattered, but the golden sword also expended all its power, vanishing into nothing. Xu Ziqing promptly invoked the Qingyun Needle, shielding himself and his senior brother once again.

Yun Lie’s breath hesitated momentarily as he withdrew another elixir and ingested it.

In the intense battle between the two, they alternated in taking the elixir, but the consumption escalated rapidly.

Suddenly, several beams of golden light, as thick as bowls, shot up into the sky. Faster and more robust than the preceding blood poisons, they induced dizziness in a few cultivators who accidentally inhaled the poisonous gas. Unable to maintain their balance on the cloud, they slid down several tens of feet.

The beasts beneath were ready to act, and another beam of light thrust directly at them, piercing through a cultivator instantaneously, turning him into a lifeless form.

It dawned on everyone that these blood-poisoning beasts had three horns on their heads, forming groups, and each beast could unleash three beams of light simultaneously!

The cultivators couldn’t help but be alarmed.

If the two-horned beasts hadn’t alarmed them excessively before, the situation had changed now.

The strength of the three-horned beast typically ranged between foundation-building cultivators and cultivators in the golden core formation stage. With golden horns, they were equivalent to cultivators in the golden core formation stage!

In the current scenario, groups of foundation-building cultivators and golden core formation cultivators were attacking them. How could they not be afraid?

Having witnessed his senior brother employ cultivation techniques before, Xu Ziqing couldn’t help but ask, “Shixiong, are you okay now?”

Yun Lie nodded slightly, stating, “No problem.”

Xu Ziqing sighed lightly, remarking, “I hope Shixiong will take care of yourself. Don’t make me worry.”

Yun Lie paused slightly and affirmed, “Although I dispatch them effortlessly, I know what I should do.”

Xu Ziqing felt reassured upon hearing his assurance.

Indeed, when Yun Lie wielded the golden sword once more, he no longer relied on the giant sword’s oppressive force. Instead, he gathered it in the palm of his hand, using swordsmanship to sever numerous columns of blood-poisonous light. Then, with the fingers of his other hand, he unleashed sword techniques, slaying the wild beasts below one by one. This approach significantly reduced his energy consumption.

Observing this, Xu Ziqing couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride. With a swing of his arm, the blood vine undulated like a wave. With another push, it moved like a spirit snake, weaving through the wild beasts.

He still had some power left. If he could eliminate as many beasts as possible, he would do so. When faced with true helplessness, he would resort to activating the talisman for a swift escape.

Moreover, the triangular beast had already made an appearance. If Yun Lie’s assessment was accurate, reinforcements should be on their way!

As expected, not long after, an immensely strong spiritual pressure emanated from behind. Although not pure, this power, formed by the amalgamation of countless people’s spiritual pressure, rapidly approached from a distance.

Xu Ziqing’s spirit trembled, thinking to himself: Here they come!

Subsequently, a commanding voice declared, “Friends, please step aside and rest for now. As long as I’m here!”

The voice resonated with strength, conveying the speaker’s abundant vitality and remarkable vigor. An aura steeped in iron and blood, tinged with the anticipation of imminent battle, swiftly advanced like a shooting star, exuding a forceful presence.

This potent aura could easily overwhelm the faint-hearted. Yet, Xu Ziqing, with a mere sway, dissipated its influence with a wave of his hand. Turning to Yun Lie, he inquired, “Shixing, how do you feel?”

Yun Lie grasped his wrist and replied, “Step aside first.”

With those words, Xu Ziqing felt his body lighten, finding himself in another airspace in the blink of an eye. The spot they had vacated was now densely populated by tens of thousands of troops, each emanating a radiant spiritual light, creating an overwhelming pressure.

Under this pressure, even the slightest proximity would likely lead to being crushed. The gathered strength exuded an unyielding will.

Above this army, a group of intense blue wolf-like shadows seemed to howl continuously at the moon – the Warrior’s Spirit.

These Warriors, who had long suppressed wild beasts in towns, had undergone countless battles, forming an iron-clad, indomitable force. Xu Ziqing involuntarily held his breath, feeling a strong sense of suffocation under this pressure, understanding that any hasty move into the Warriors’ domain would spell certain death. Even his senior brother couldn’t save him.

It took a while for Xu Ziqing to feel the temperature on his wrist. Yun Lie had not let go when pulling him over, allowing him to react swiftly.

“Shixiong…” Xu Ziqing couldn’t help but ask, “Is this the Warrior’s Spirit of Zhenbian City? Did you see this Warrior’s Spirit before when you came here?”

Yun Lie released his hand and spoke slowly, “Yes.”

The Warrior’s Spirit requires countless years of Warrior’s accumulated willpower to condense. To truly form, it needs the blood of generations from both sides, washing the land and absorbing the dead breath and resentment of countless Warrior Spirits.

Although the Warrior’s Spirit may seem like the most Yin thing, it is also the most upright. It is an extremely formidable entity, capable of protecting a general and ensuring victories in battles. Difficult to form, once established, it is mighty.

The place where the Warrior’s Spirit forms is usually where generations of wars have been fought. In such locations, the Warrior’s Spirit absorbs more power, growing from generation to generation.

As these monastic warriors appeared, they were remarkably organized. The cultivators still engaged in combat in that area, whether willingly or not, retreated one after another.

However, the wild beasts showed no mercy, and those beams of blood-poisonous light continued to burst into the sky.

Then Xu Ziqing witnessed the Warrior’s Spirit in action.

The wolf shadow within the Warrior’s Spirit roared fiercely, emitting rolling sound waves. Many unicorn beasts in front of them couldn’t stand their ground; some weaker ones immediately weakened their legs and collapsed.

The warriors initially at a disadvantage gained morale as soon as the Warrior’s Spirit emerged. The one-horned wild beasts were restrained by the Warrior’s Spirit, and many of them that were about to devour the Warriors bent their knees, succumbing to the experienced warriors who reclaimed their lives.

Immediately, countless voices echoed:

“Warrior’s Spirits, arise! No mercy—”

“Die, Wild beasts! Let peace reign—”

“We are one! Conquer the plains—”

The rallying cries fueled even stronger morale, and the eyes of the Warrior’s Spirit became fiercer.

Subsequently, the monastic Warriors also sprang into action.

A group of Warriors clad in uniform armor suddenly wielded black scimitars. The scimitars appeared to be made of a material resembling gold and wood, exuding a sharp and weighty aura. Cold light gleamed on them, with black blood stains accumulating in the grooves, merging with the scimitars to create a unified color—a testament to the blood they had absorbed from the enemies.

In the blink of an eye, the Warriors seamlessly formed into several formations, their movements elusive yet connected by an imperceptible thread of understanding. This coordination gave rise to the impression of “moving the whole body with one hair.” Undoubtedly, each Warrior exhibited a strength surpassing the aura they emanated.

As these cultivator Warriors surged forward, their scimitars unleashed sharp black streaks, cutting through the herd of beasts.

Could it be Dao Gang?

Xu Ziqing’s pupils contracted abruptly before he shook his head. No, it wasn’t…

The black light descended rapidly, encountering the blood-poisonous beams and promptly dissolving them. The potency of the blood poison determined the speed of its dissolution, but there was no doubt that the black streaks were the bane of blood poison, capable of completely neutralizing it.

While this power didn’t match the fluidity of Yun Lie’s golden sword in crushing blood poison, it was nearly on par with Xu Ziqing’s Qingyun Needle for detoxification. Some black streaks and blood poison counteracted each other, but the ones released by the thousand-level sergeant outpaced the blood poison’s resistance. Once the black streaks gained the upper hand, the blood poison melted away, and before the black streaks dissipated, they exploded upon contact with a wild beast, causing a shower of flesh and blood.

This reaction was akin to fire and thunder, even affecting the adjacent beasts, creating a gruesome spectacle.

Xu Ziqing was genuinely impressed. He had never witnessed such a bold and fierce battlefield confrontation between two armies, even if one side consisted of humans and the other of beasts. The fighting spirit exuded from both sides seemed capable of immediately igniting one’s blood.

Having been a human in two lifetimes, Xu Ziqing had always been peaceful and self-disciplined. Yet, on the battlefield, he discovered an unexpected enthusiasm that yearned to burst forth.

Half an hour had passed unnoticed, and Xu Ziqing’s energy and vitality had recovered somewhat. He spoke again, “Shixiong, I want to join the fight again. What do you say?”

Yun Lie responded, “Follow me.”

Wherever wild beasts congregated, a large army was engaged in combat. However, where the population of wild beasts was thinner, some cultivators were still doing their best to repel them. Identifying a weak spot, the siblings released their supernatural powers, exhibiting the same sharpness as when the previous army arrived, but with an added intensity that mirrored the Warriors’ spirit.

Perhaps influenced by the spirit of the Warriors, the two siblings displayed an even more heightened fighting spirit as the battle unfolded. Yun Lie’s golden sword pointed toward the sky, exuding a killing intent that soared to great heights.

Suddenly, a powerful chill emanated from a distance, and a voice rang out, “Would you like to engage in a contest with me, the sword cultivator in the front?”

Xu Ziqing was taken aback.

…Could this also be sword intent?
