The police officers were not the only people who had this thought. Sergio had been watching outside

the interrogation room. He smiled and said, “This girl has some guts. No wonder you care so much.”

Jalen looked at Elaina. He could not help but smile. “She is very special.” She was Elaina, his ex-wife

and the woman he found the most difficult to understand.

“But you have to be mentally prepared. Although she is your person, this matter is not easy to deal

with. After all, the evidence is conclusive. If you can’t find evidence to prove her innocence, she may

have to go to court,” Sergio reminded kindly.

Jalen was very influential in New York. But everyone was equal before the law. If Elaina did kill

someone, even Jalen wouldn’t be able to cover her up.

Jalen nodded. He understood it. “I believe in her.”

“Alright. Then find the evidence as soon as possible. The higher-ups are very concerned about this

case. The Lory family has also put a lot of pressure on us. You don’t have much time.”

“OK.” Jalen left after saying that. But he turned back to Sergio again and said, “Take good care of her

for me.”

“Don’t worry. She will be fine with me here.”

Jalen left the police station, while Elaina was still being interrogated.

After Theodore and Andrew learned of this, they immediately hired a lawyer for Elaina and came to see

her. After seeing that she was fine, they left to look for evidence..

Elaina was not too worried. After all, she didn’t do it. In addition, she trusted Theodore’s and Andrew’s

abilities. She believed that they would find evidence. However, before they could find anything, the

police got another piece of evidence against Elaina.

“This is Marcus’ phone. There is a message from you. You asked him to meet you at a hotel. We

suspect that you had planned to kill him.”

There was a huge difference between the punishments for excessive defense and intentional murder.

Elaina glanced at Marcus’ phone and sneered in her heart. The person who wanted to frame her was

really well-prepared. Elaina didn’t even know Marcus’ number. How could she send him a message?

“I didn’t send that message. Someone should have sent it to him after I was knocked out.

The person did that to frame me,” Elaina said calmly. There was no panic or worry.

Outside the interrogation room, Ernesto and Alisha heard her answer. The looks on their faces were

different. But it was obvious that they were not in a good mood.

“Nonsense!”

Ernesto shouted angrily, “Who else could it be if it wasn’t her? I think she wanted to seduce my son and

was refused, so she killed him in a fit of anger.

“Sergio, you must give me an explanation as soon as possible. Don’t think that she can do anything

just because she has Jalen’s support. The Lory family are not people you can trifle with!”

Sergio felt bitter. He could not afford to offend any of these people from big families.

“Don’t worry, Mr. Lory. We will enforce the law impartially. No one can delay the progress of our

investigation.”

In other words, the police wouldn’t be affected by Jalen or the Lory family.

Ernesto knew what Sergio meant. He snorted, “I hope so. If I find out that you want to cover her up, I

won’t let you go!”

“Don’t worry. We will definitely bring peace to the victim.”

Ernesto and Sergio continued negotiating. Alisha was staring at Elaina in the interrogation room. After

thinking for a moment, Alisha said to Sergio, “Captain Russett, can I go in and talk to her?”
