Chapter 2749 Under Scrutiny

Clara's fingers trembled before they came to a stop as she turned to look back at Myria.

"What did you say?"

Her eyes flickered with a hint of anger, appearing to stem from the bottom of her heart as she floated into the air, immortal undulations surging from her, one that was at Level Seven Immortal Stage. She was just above Tia in cultivation level as the latter was at Level Six Immortal Stage, but the prowess exuded by Clara prowled all over the hall, causing an overwhelming and authoritative will to descend.

Myria's eyes narrowed as though she smiled, but just before she could speak, Davis raised his hand to stop Clara while turning to look at Myria.

"That's enough. I told you I would thoroughly investigate this matter and give you a suitable response."

"Heh~" Myria snickered, "Enough of this charade. You couldn't keep your people in line, and one of them betrayed your trust by selling me out for some unknown reason. In any case, even if you find them, you would just let them go with a pat on their back, and I'm supposed to leave it to you?"

Myria's voice grew chilling, causing the others to feel out of breath as an Immortal King's pressure silently filled the hall.

"..."

Isabella and the others were thoroughly shocked at this scene, not understanding as they turned to look at Ellia. However, they saw that her expression was also full of worry, causing their hearts to sink.

It was unknown what Davis and Myria talked about on the seventh floor but... was this a... fallout?

"Myria, let's sit and talk about this, alright? We can-!" Shirley spoke up, only to be suddenly met with immense pressure falling on her.

"Shut your mouth, Shirley." Myria's cold voice emerged as she raised her hands, "I don't believe any of you one bit as you have all betrayed my trust, especially when you did have the determination to kill me once for your man. Ellia, come here. I'm taking you back."

Shirley became shaken, unable to respond, while Ellia shook her head.

"What...?" Her brows narrowed with difficulty, "Mother, you can't be like this..."

"I won't ask again."

"Ridiculous! You know I can't leave him!" Ellia screamed as she waved her hand, "What's wrong with you!?"

"Is that so?" Myria's black eyes gleamed with a cold icy glint.

She turned to leave, but a nonchalant voice echoed out.

"Unfortunately, no one can leave, including you, so stay and watch what's going to happen. I'll catch the culprit and have them dealt with seriously. I give you my word."

Davis's words caused her to stop. She stared at the empty space for a while before turning to look at them.

"I have my eyes on you, little lass."

She coldly looked at Clara, causing the latter to clench her teeth without even changing her expression.

However, with Davis touching and grasping her hand, she felt a sense of warmth, a kind of feeling that made her feel secure despite the doubtful glances cast at her. Even with her calm attitude, she found it difficult to be glimpsed at with those kinds of eyes, but she looked at Davis's eyes that were full of trust, and she was heartened beyond compare, her lips quivering.

 "I didn't do it..."

"I know."

Davis nodded as he lightly smiled. However, inwardly, he heaved a sigh of relief as he directly heard it from her mouth. The last bit of doubt he held towards her was washed away without a trace as he knew that Clara was never the type to lie, even if she had done something wrong under the influence of heaven's will.

He walked Clara towards Vereina and closed his eyes before opening them, his heart intent surrounding the entire space of the hall as he garnered emotions from every individual that was present.

"Where were you when Myria was exposed?"

Vereina glanced at the two of them, recalling how Davis investigated her once before as though he could read his mind. Despite having confidence, she couldn't help but remain nervous.

"I was doing a mission in the western plains near the southwestern branch, and I heard of this information only after I came back two days later, so... I'm not the person you are looking for."

Davis narrowed his brows before he turned to look at Clara, whose eyes were shining purple, attracting all lifeforms to be respectful to her. But after hearing Vereina's statement, she turned to look at Davis.

Their eyes met, and as though communicating through soul transmission, Davis nodded and brushed Vereina off after grabbing her shoulder, causing her to almost snarl at him but sensing his menacing aura, she clenched her teeth as she stayed her hands, appearing to be wronged.

"Zahara, I saved you. This is how you repay us?" He looked at the crimson-robed woman, his voice chilling and intimidating despite the other party being an Immortal King Beast, one at Level Four Immortal King Beast Stage at that.

However, Zahara merely looked away as she raised her hand and adjusted her crimson hair, "I wasn't even aware that Myria was a Divergent as I was inside the palace all day long until I went to visit her estate, so don't ask me."

Davis narrowed his brows at Zahara's answer, turning to look at Clara once again. She also returned the gaze, causing Davis to heave a deep breath as he turned to look at Evelynn.

"..."

Evelynn had her gaze on Davis the entire time without her expression changing, even now, as she kept focusing her gaze on him walking towards her. As soon as he got closer and his stature towered above her, she still looked at him with unblinking eyes, causing almost everyone who was witnessing to hold their breaths.

But on the other head, Davis didn't feel any kind of awkwardness. In her purple eyes, he could see unwavering trust despite what he was doing, and the lack of any kind of guilt in her emotions caused him to chuckle shortly as he looked away, scoffing as he shook his head before he moved on to the next one.

"Hehe~"

"..."

His gaze fell on Natalya, causing her to go stiff as she released an awkward laugh.
