Righteous Energy
Edgar never could have imagined he would be related to Jared that way. However, Jared was now
dead, so everything was a moot point.
“The cultivation method for immortality is a good thing. I have a way to make her talk,” the spirit in
Edgar’s body said. “Dad, I have a way to make my aunt talk,” Edgar told Ryker.
“Really?” Ryker grew excited after hearing his son’s words. After all, he had confined Beatrice for over
twenty years to get the cultivation method but to no avail.
He couldn’t believe that Edgar had a way to get it. “Of course I do. Did you forget the technique I’m
learning now?” Edgar replied with a smile. “Okay then. Hurry, take action!” Ryker urged impatiently.
Edgar nodded and turned to Godrick. “Leave. Don’t come in without my permission.”
“Got it.” Godrick gave a bow and did as told. The moment he bent down, a vicious glint flashed across
his eyes.
Even though his strength was leagues behind Edgar’s, he was still resentful over how unfair the
Deragon family was to him.
Edgar got most of the resources, whereas Godrick got nothing despite his efforts.
He refused to lead the rest of his life this way.
After Godrick left, Edgar cast Beatrice a glance. Something glinted across his eyes.
A black fog seeped out of him before a figure left his body.
Knowing that it was the spirit inside Edgar’s body, Ryker remained unfazed.
That was the first time Beatrice had ever seen this, so she could barely hide her surprise and alarm.
After leaving Edgar’s body, the spirit headed straight toward Beatrice, intending to enter her mind.
Right when it was about to make its way into Beatrice’s mind, a golden glow appeared from the middle
of her forehead.
The glow was so bright that both Edgar and Ryker shut their eyes instinctively.
However, the spirit let out a yell as though it was frightened. It quickly returned to Edgar’s body.
At once, Edgar spat out a mouthful of blood and turned deathly pale.
“Edgar!” Ryker rushed over to check on his son’s condition worriedly.
“What happened?” Edgar asked in confusion with his brows knitted together.
“The woman has righteous energy within her. I can’t enter her body,” the spirit replied weakly.
Edgar was speechless. I don’t know the extent of the spirit’s power, but why is it so unreliable? Back in
Bliss City, it hid in fear from the armor’s light and dared not show itself. Now, it was attacked by a burst
of righteous energy. To be honest, it’s pretty useless.
However, Edgar dared not voice his grumbles out loud as he still needed its help to cultivate.
They were bound together, for good and for bad.
Ryker gazed at Edgar. “What happened?”
“Dad, the woman possesses righteous energy. I cannot enter her body. I think we have to come up with
a different way to check her memory,” Edgar explained.
“Hmph! This brat is annoying. Her son was the reason you lost one arm. I must take revenge on your
behalf today!” Ryker declared.
He grabbed a specially designed leather whip and began lashing Beatrice viciously.
Beatrice didn’t make a sound, as though the whip didn’t land on her body.
After getting tired from whipping her, Ryker tossed the whip aside and stormed out angrily.
Right after Ryker and Edgar stepped out of the dungeon, a member of the Deragon family came over
to report that Zion from the Warriors Alliance wanted Ryker to head over.
