" You are insane. You are seriously doing this, sir. We tried to go in an easy way but..."
" Get. out" Xander simply said, bringing the gun down. There's a confident look on Xander's face. He
might have lost his memory but if he looks pretty confident while holding the gun. Like this is not the
first time. The memories might have faded away but practice never got forgotten.
" If you ever regret this moment, you will be suffering and wish you could take this all back. We have
self-respect. We are not going to plead you or push you into doing something that you don't want to do.
But you suffer in your life without a single memory." Both of them left the house, closing the door shut.
" Do you know how to shoot? Where did you get the gun? there's no chance of getting a gun from the
hospital." I questioned him instead of thanking him.
" It's not from the hospital. I found it in my room. I feel familiar holding this gun. It's must be one of my
belongings I think." Xander said, with a satisfied smile.
" I believe you started feeling something once you came here."
" Some things like this gun and my laptop feels familiar. But that's not helping at all. Anyways, we got
rid of one problem. Now, you will be staying with me." His hand moved to touch me but he got his gun
in his hand and another hand isn't going to help him in any way.
" Why can't my hand heal faster? I can't deal with this." He complained and got back to his room. Two
hours already passed by. There's no way of going back to the hospital at 12:am. Xander and I decided
to stay here for one night.
I found some interesting books to read on shelves while he went to take a bath. Now everything seems
normal but his parents, Henry and Veronica will be back in less than three days. I can't imagine a
scenario of how the day will go.
" Take any book you want. Since we came here, you can't move away from this shelf." Xander entered
his room with only his towel.
" I...I love your collections. I would like to read it all if I get some time," I replied without looking at him
until he got dressed.
" Yeah, you can even take some of it to your home if you want. I might have read it all but I don't
remember any of the book titles here. If I don't get my memory back, I have to read it all. It seems like
difficult work."
" Do you know one thing? Many readers are ready to even sell their soul to read some of their favourite
books for the first time. You got the opportunity for your whole shelf. Read it before you get your
memory back."
" Sell their soul? I don't think I would something like that. Will you?"
" Of course, I will," I said, scrolling the pages of a hardcover.
" Take some of your favourite books to the hospital tomorrow. We both can read tomorrow," He
suggested.
" Really? buddy reading? I never tried it. I would like to try it with you." I looked at him, hoping he got
dressed.
" Um..aren't you gonna put your shirt on? There's a lot in your huge cupboard. Your cupboard might
even have a wide entrance to Narnia world."
" I'm not going to a meeting or something. I don't need a shirt now. So, where are you going to sleep
today?"
" Me..your hall or..."
"Or a chair...please you haven't slept well for days. My bed's wide enough for two. Sleep here today."
He already settled on his bed and requested me.
" I will take the right side, you will take the left side." he moved to the right side, giving me enough
space and gap.
" Okay...thank you, Xander," I moved on the left side, wrapping the blanket over my body. We slept
turning against each other. This new surrounding is making me feel uncomfortable. I can only
remember how Xander scolded me for sleeping next to him. Now he requesting me to do the same
again. It's better not to involve the past.
I drifted off to sleep but I can never escape from my nightmare.
I was in my house after a long time. A house where I lived from my mom, dad and my sister, Tracy. My
mom rushed into my room and hugged me tightly while she's crying.
" What happened, mom? Why are you crying?" I asked in confusion.
" Tracy died. She died in an accident. It's too late to save her now," My mom sobbed. The image shifted
as I'm in the middle of the road. Where a car rolled over. All I could see is a single hand outside the car.
Tracy died inside the car. I cried harder as my father kept me from going near her. The ambulance
already arrived. They covered her and I couldn't see her for the last time.
I opened my eyes with tears flowing from my eyes. I kept on dreaming about this accident all my life. It
never goes away. But it's been nearly 10 years after losing my sister.
I wiped the tears off while I heard Xander's screaming in the silent night. He must be having a
nightmare just like me. I turned and took his hand.
" You're alright. You're alright, Xander. Look at me. Look at me." I turned his face towards me. He's
afraid to the core.
" Look at me. Are you okay? Everything's fine." I caressed his cheek.
" I'm sorry. I woke you up. I dreamed of an accident. My accident. I don't remember it. But everything
seems like coming in a flash. I can't notice a single thing." He explained, holding my one hand tightly.
" Don't stress yourself by trying to recall it all. You got saved from the accident. It's over. You will be
getting your memories with or without anyone's help."
" I hope so. My head hurts when some images flashed in my mind. I can't recall anything now. I'm
forgetting it all again. Not everyone loses their memory in an accident. Why it has to be me? I'm feeling
empty every day."
" It's okay, Xander. Everything happens for a reason. It's only been some days. This emptiness is
temporary," I tried to assure him while he looked at me with a worried look. I have never seen him like
this till now. I could do anything to take this pain from him.
" Have you been crying?" He instantly asked.
" I was..not now. I got a dream of my sister's death. I get that every day since she died."
" I don't know about your sister but she will be in peace now. She would have wanted you to be happy. I
know you are not ready to share it, but when you share it, some of your burdens will decrease. You
deserve happiness, Madison. I want to see you happy," Xander wiped a single tear from my eye. We
both smiled trying to hide the pain with a smile.
" Will you hold me for the rest of the night?" I spoke as I heard the same words from him.
" Whoa, you copied me," I laughed as I wiped some of my tears.
" Nope, you did," he replied, moving closer to me. I wrapped my arms around him and he caressed my
bare neck. His hands moved again to play with my hair. I never felt more safer before. I closed my eyes
without any fear of getting any nightmares again.
