It was first day of work of Kendra in a luxurious 5 star hotel in Dubai. She was still living in joy and
happiness when she started stepping into another country.
"My life is like in a fairy tale. Is it for real?"
"Yes, it is!Who are you talking to?We are gonna be late so walk faster.
"Oh..Sorry.. I am talking to me. Dont bother. I am Kendra."
"Khalid, so could you please walk a bit fast?The time is running so fast and we are all gonna be late.
Kendra had stopped feeling the joyfulness for a while and back into her reality that she was with her
other colleagues and had to go to for training.
"Oh yes, You are right."
Kendra walked slowly and let her colleagues to go first. She went to another direction alone. Kendra
was so happy seeing around new things. Everything was new to her that is why she was so curious.
She was almost near at the hotel. She saw the elevator going to her training room when she saw a
very handsome man that truly caught her attention. She was stuck looking at him as if she thought it
would never happen to her. Kendra's heart was beating so fast at very firstime in her life, she felt the so
called love at first sight. She entered the elevator, the man was beside of her and still her heart beating
so fast.
"Going Up?"
"Oh yes!!"
"Which floor?"
"9th?"
"Oh, we are going on the same floor."
"Oh, okay..."
The man was smiling. Kendra could not understand herself as she could not speak easily. She became
so shy and did not know why. The elevator had reached 9th floor and the door opened.
Kendra walked so fast as she did not see the time. She was in late.
The training room was jam-packed. Kendra was walking silently. The guy name Khalid saw Kendra.
"Where have you been? Which way did you go?
"Which way?Ahh..Sorry, I have to go to the bathroom. You know, nature calling."
"Are you making excuses? There is no other way except the way that we had."
"Seriously?This hotel has many holes or ways to get into this training room."
Kendra rolled up her eyes to Khalid and left him. The orientation had begun. Kendra was late. Kendra
missed some part of the orientation. The bosses started to show up in front and introduced more about
their position one by one. Kendra suddenly shocked when she saw the guy from the elevator. She
thought that the guy was her in the same position and other department. She never thought that the
guy who asked her which floor and pressed the button was her one of the bosses in her department.
Almost all women inside the training room were fantasizing him and most of them had romantic
interest. Kendra's colleague beside her was so excited and kept saying that the guy was so handsome.
"He is so handsome. Why on earth has to see this beautiful human being for the firstime!!! Are you not
excited seeing and knowing how handsome our boss is?"
"Who are you talking to?"
"That guy!! Tall, white, with green eyes and golden hair. By the way, I am Latifa from Indonesia and you
are?"
"Kendra...Kendra Clark.."
"Oh yes, You are late that is why you have missed something about our bosses. He is the youngest
boss in our department and his position is Operational Manager."
"What?!Operational Manager..."
Khalid heard Latifa and Kendra's conversation. He went to Kendra and Latifa to cut off their
conversation.
"You and You..both of you!! Could you please stop talking to each other and listen to what are bosses
saying?You two are starting a noise in the room. You are already late and started to make a noise in
the room. What is your problem lady?
Kendra rolled up her eyes to Khalid, ignored and left him. Latifa grabbed her hand and whispered
talking about Khalid.
"Khalid is one of the supervisor of our department that is why he is acting so superior. Anyways, our
department is so big. He might not be your true supervisor. Who knows?"
"He is not acting superior Latifa. He is power tripping us."
"I know.. I know..Khalid just have a red alert today."
"Red Alert?"
"Yes... Men have midlife crisis too not only women.."
"You mean hormonal imbalance?"
"You got it right ..Men have too..."
"I hate it Latifa."
"As much as we women hate their hormonal imbalance same with Men. They hate women so much
when we are also in our state of hormonal imbalance.."
Both were laughing quietly. Kendra suddenly looked up and could not take her eyes off to the guy she
saw at the elevator. She was so magnetized or hypnotized. Her body suddenly got paralyzed. Her heart
was beating so fast again and again. Kendra felt so nervous. She felt that her body was frozen to
death. The guy caught up Kendra looking at him for a long time. Kendra felt so red in the face and her
whole body was melting as she stopped listening to what Latifa was saying. Latifa was looking at her
and wondering.
"Are you okay Kendra?"
"Oh yes.. I am okay..what are you saying again Latifa?"
"I said that Khalid must be a supervisor of our restaurant. What job did they giveyou Kendra?"
"TSA?"
"What is that?"
"Telephone Sales Agent? Taking orders.. Order Taker?.."
"What work they gave you?"
"Waitress.. I will be working in a restaurant..Oh my..Your problem is solved. Khalid will not be working
with you."
"Really?Thank God.. I am so relieved."
"And wow..you will be working at the back of the house. Your salary is higher compare to us."
"Does it matter? What did you choose your job if it is not what you want in your heart?"
"Yes, Of course it does matter Money is so important. If we have lots of money we can buy anything we
want. I have a poor life in Indonesia. I m working outside of my country to get out of my poor life.
Working abroad gives you great opportunities to earn more money."
"Yes.. yes.. Money is important but what if I am telling you that I am now outside of my country and
working abroad because this is one part of my dreams and goals to travel which I know to myself that
this is what I truly want and I live with it only. Is not so amazing and so great living only in your dreams
and goals?"
"Are you all right Kendra?Stop living in fantasy..You have to live in reality. The reality is....Everyone
needs money for survival.."
Kendra ignored what Latifa was saying. She knew to herself that she was so happy fulfilling and
making her dreams and goals happen. She didnt care if not everyone around her believed in what she
was saying, what matter to her most was her dreams and goals only.
"I live with it.?.."
"You are crazy Kendra..Be practical and realistic. Nowadays, People dont care about their dreams
because its not practical. People care about Money.."
Kendra looked up again the guy from the elevator. She could not imagine herself that she would be
feeling so nervous on how she felt. She could not take her eyes off to him again. The guy felt and
caught up Kendra looking at him. The guy that Kendra saw at the elevator smiled at her. Suddenly the
moment was gone when Khalid interrupted again their conversation.
"Why are you both not following my instructions? I am your supervisor.. You ..and you...give me your
names?"
"Why are you taking our names?"
"Not you..I already remembered your name Latifa..You?"
Kendra started again to heat up and did het best to calm herself down.
"Kendra...Kendra is my name..Could you please excuse me? I have to join now with my bosses,
supervisors...AKA my original team."
Kendra left Khalid and Latifa. She walked and looked for het team where she was designated. Latifa
could not stop laughing. Khalid felt so embarrassed and wanted a revenge. The guy that Kendra saw
from the elevator who was their operational manager saw the whole scene and Khalid was so angry to
Kendra.
"Khalid...Could you pleas go back to your team now. Everyone let us get started on our first day
training.. Are you ready all?"
Kendra suddenly stopped walking on her way to her team when she heard his voice and looked at him
again. Then the guy or AKA their operational manager smiled and winked at her.
