Chapter 1062Chapter 1062
Zachary was chuckling but he did not appear embarrassed.
Irene, however, was not humoring him. "Why were you following me?"
"How was I following you?" Zachary argued. "You don't own this road. I can use it just like you."
"Weren't you going sightseeing with Jean? What are you doing here? You took one of the cars too."
"We did. We just didn't go that far."
Irene was left speechless and asked grumpily, "So? What do you want?"
"Nothing," Zachary said. "Just taking a stroll, killing time."
Irene ignored that and strode off to try to shake him off.
Zachary, however, clung to her like a wad of gum. "It's dangerous going alone. Why don't I come with
you?"
"Nope." Irene refused right then. "Keep following me, and I'll tell Isaac you're bothering me."
Zachary pouted. "Don't we go way back?"
Irene laughed coolly. "You're affecting my mood by following me around. Or should I thank you for
that?"
"By the way, why are you alone? Where's Isaac? I mean, is he really working now that you're back?
Really, I wonder what's more important to him— money or love?" Zachary tried to provoke her just
then.Irene was not about to get upset with that. "He's just busy with work. How does that affect our love?"
Zachary was left speechless-to be fair, he was asking for it.
He turned and strode off. "Fine, I won't follow you anymore. Just leave!"
Irene knew he was following her because he failed to make her talk last night. "You thought I brought
Lulu back with me, didn't you?"
Zachary looked at her in silence, which was basically a silent admission.
In fact, that was exactly why he followed her.
While he did not lie about going sightseeing with Jean because he did want to let Irene and Isaac
spend time together, he also wondered if Irene would go outside today.
And if she did, she surely would be going to see Lulu, no?
Naturally, that was only if Lulu did come to Franconia.
Irene told him slowly and clearly then, "Lulu didn't come back with me. She's gone after Martin died,
and I don't know where she is, just as she did not tell me where she went."
Zachary waved her off. "I know."
After all, if Irene was resolute about hiding Lulu from him, he would not find out anything from her
anyway.
But with Martin dead, Lulu probably had no place to go.
The only one Lulu had was their daughter, and Lulu would probably miss her.As such, he just had to take good care of Jean, and Lulu would eventually come to Jean once she felt
better.
Looking at Irene then, she said, "If you can contact her, tell her I don't care about her past. If she's
willing to raise Jean with me, we can always start over."
"Why would you tell me that? I don't know where she is," Irene replied, but she had certainly heard him.
At the same time, Irene knew that Lulu had trouble accepting men-Lulu was only willing to live for her
daughter.
Zachary smiled and said rather pointedly, "That's why you both are friends."
Irene certainly knew what he meant but did not respond.
Still, she did not feel like going out now, and sat on a nearby bench while Zachary watched her nearby.
Bzzt—
Her phone suddenly started buzzing, and she took it out to see that it was a call from Eagle.
She glanced at Zachary and made sure to speak quietly out of earshot.
"Yes?" he asked.
"There's an unexpected situation, ma’am," Eagle said.
