70 I’ll Let You Guys Stay
Outside the base camp, a dozen guards knelt on the ground with bruises all over their faces.
“Get up and lead the way. I want to meet your leader.”
The guard didn’t expect Su Ying to deliver herself on a silver platter. “I’ll take you there.”
Su Ying raised her eyes and glanced at him. “Let’s go.”
The guard stood up from the ground and led Su Ying and her group into the base camp.
As it was already late at night, the interior of the base camp was dark, but one could still vaguely make out the shapes of the houses inside.
“I didn’t expect the northern wilderness to be like this. It’s not as scary as I thought.” Bai Shuang looked at the streets that were not considered flat but still very well-demarcated. No matter how she looked at it, it was much better than she had imagined.
“Who are the people living here? Are they all exiled criminals like us?”
Everyone was very curious and looked around outside from inside the carriage.
“Leader, leader!”
The guard who was leading the way suddenly shouted and rushed out.
In front of them, a group of people on horses rushed over.
The man in the lead sat on a horse. His physique appeared even stronger than a horse, and his bulging muscles looked as if they were going to burst through his robe at any time.
He galloped over on his horse under the dim moonlight. In the dark street, he looked like a terrifying demon from hell, bringing fear to everyone who looked upon him.
Tiger Might rode his horse up to Su Ying, and the horse stopped less than a step away from her.
He pulled on the reins, and because the horse was going too fast when it suddenly stopped, it reared up on its hind legs.
Su Ying looked extremely diminutive as she stood under this man and his horse.
In the face of the front hooves of the powerful horse, Su Ying did not show any sign of fear at all.
A hint of surprise flashed across Tiger Might’s eyes. He loosened the reins and allowed the horse to land.
“You guys are the ones who trespassed the Tiger Base?”
“I guess so.” Su Ying raised her eyebrows.
Tiger Might’s eyes darkened, and he dismounted from the horse with one flip of his body. When he stood in front of Su Ying, he was three times as big as her.
“You’re quite bold, little girl. Hehe! I’ll start with you today.”
In the carriage, Xiao Jin’s sharply-defined eyebrows knitted together until they joined as he looked at Tiger Might. This person’s movements were steady and his aura was strong. At a glance, he could tell that he was not on the same level as those trash at the gate. He was probably not so easy to deal with.
“Su Ying, be careful!”
“Don’t worry. No matter how big they are, I can handle them,” Su Ying replied without turning her head.
Tiger Might did not expect her to be so arrogant. He chuckled in a deep voice. The next instant, his expression changed as he reached out to grab her.
Su Ying bent down and dodged his hand easily. “Since you’re so eager to get beaten up, I won’t hold back.”
“How arrogant!” Although Tiger Might was tall and beefy, his movements were very nimble. Su Ying had just dodged his attack, but he immediately switched his movements and clawed at her stomach again.
Su Ying spun around 360 degrees and dodged all his consecutive attacks one after another.
Su Ying’s eyes gradually darkened as she confronted Tiger Might’s powerful attacks.
This brawny man was agile and was indeed a strong opponent.
In a second of distraction, Tiger Might grabbed Su Ying by the collar and belt from behind. In the next moment, Su Ying’s entire body was lifted high into the air.
“Mother!”
“Su Ying!”
Wang Su and his companion wanted to dash forward to help when they saw the situation but were stopped by the other party’s guards.
Xiao Jin took out the dagger that Su Ying had given him and suddenly shot it toward Tiger Might’s heart.
At this moment, Su Ying suddenly bent her body and swiftly straightened it. She aimed one kick squarely at Tiger Might’s armpit.
Tiger Might released his grip in pain.
Su Ying flipped around and escaped from Tiger Might’s grasp. She grabbed Xiao Jin’s flying dagger midair and pressed it against the artery on Tiger Might’s neck.
Tiger Might’s movements froze, and he slowly straightened his body.
“Tell your men to stop.”
Tiger Might’s eyes narrowed and he gestured with his hand at his own people.
Su Ying pushed the dagger forward. “Don’t move. My dagger is very sharp.”
“Let go of our leader, or you won’t be able to leave this place alive.”
“Since I’m here, I don’t plan to leave for the time being. If I can defeat your leader, I can defeat you all too.”
“What do you want?” Tiger Might spoke.
“Just a place to stay.”
“Hahahaha! Alright, I’ll let you guys stay. Now, you can remove your dagger.”
Su Ying didn’t move. “Why should I believe you?”
Tiger Might guffawed out loud. “Everyone in the northern wilderness knows that I, Tiger Might, never go back on my word. If I say I’ll let you stay, I won’t break my promise.”
Only then did Su Ying withdraw her dagger.
Tiger Might turned around and looked at Su Ying icily. “Little girl, you’re a formidable one.”
“My name is Su Ying.”
“Alright, Su Ying. I’ll let you stay in the Tiger Base, but where you’ll stay and whether you’ll be able to stay here safely is all up to your ability.”
“You don’t need to worry about that.”
“Alright.”
Tiger Might glanced at Xiao Jin sitting in the carriage before mounting the horse and leaving with his men with a flourish.
In an instant, only Su Ying and the others were left on the wide, empty street.
“Er… they are letting us stay?”
Bai Shuang and the rest alighted from the carriage. Since the leader of the Tiger Base had left, that meant that they could stay.
“It’s getting late. Let’s find a place to camp for the night. We’ll talk about other things after dawn.”
“Alright.”
As they walked, Su Ying realized that there were houses all around the Tiger Base, and they were randomly constructed in a disorganized and haphazard manner.
It was already late at night, and there were many people in Su Ying’s group. Su Ying found a relatively large open space to camp for the night.
After the fierce battle today, no one had eaten anything. Now that they had arrived at this spot, and the situation was not as bad as they had imagined, everyone was able to breathe a sigh of relief.
Wang Su and the others went around to gather some dry firewood. Hea Shouyi mixed some white flour and baked some egg pancakes for dinner.
As for the mercenaries, Su Ying used the dry food she had saved up to settle their meals. These people were still useful to her and she wouldn’t let them starve to death.
After a long day of traveling, everyone was tired and found a place to sleep after eating.
Su Ying kissed the faces of the sleeping twins, Ji and Ling. There was a gentle look on her face. There was no trace of the hostility she had when she was fighting.
“Did you get injured today?” Xiao Jin said as he looked at Su Ying.
Su Ying shook her head. “No. Even if I did, they are just superficial wounds that don’t matter.”
Xiao Jin reached out his hand. “Let me see.”
Su Ying grabbed his hand in one move. “What’s there to see? Take the medicine I have given you first. I’ll have to treat your wounds again later.”
Xiao Jin glanced at the hand Su Ying was holding, but he still obediently took the medicine.
He didn’t know if he was too tired, but after taking the medicine, Xiao Jin felt a wave of sleepiness overcoming him. He was so sleepy that he couldn’t keep his eyes open.
In the blink of an eye, he fell asleep beside Su Ying.
Su Ying glanced at Wang Su and Zhao Neng who were standing guard outside. “Keep watch carefully. I’m going to take a nap.”
“Yes, Mistress.”
Su Ying closed the carriage door and then activated the interspatial store. She brought the soundly sleeping Xiao Jin into the interspatial store.
