88 Hugging Each Other For Warmth

The chilliness on her body made Su Ying shiver uncontrollably. She forced herself to open her eyes to get a heating pad, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t open her eyes.

“It’s cold…”

“Su Ying, Su Ying! Wake up.” Xiao Jin looked at the pale-faced Su Ying, whose eyes were tightly closed. He felt as if his heart was being squeezed.

However, no matter how he called out to her, Su Ying showed no signs of waking up.

Xiao Jin reached out and touched her forehead. He found that her body was icy cold. Even though they had brought all the blankets to cover her, she was still shivering.

When he saw Su Ying’s lips gradually turning white, Xiao Jin’s sharply-defined eyebrows furrowed. He burrowed under her blanket and pulled her into his arms.

When she felt the warmth of Xiao Jin’s body, Su Ying subconsciously snuggled into his arms. Upon seeing this, Xiao Jin hugged her even more tightly.

Gradually, the heat from Xiao Jin’s body warmed up Su Ying’s freezing body substantially, but she still seemed to be feeling unwell and kept moaning in his arms.

Xiao Jin lowered his eyes and looked at Su Ying, whose brows were tightly knitted. This was the first time she had shown such a weak and delicate side of herself in front of him after the change in her character.

Xiao Jin felt a dull pain in his heart, and he could only hold her tighter.

After an unknown amount of time, Su Ying slowly opened her eyes. She looked at Xiao Jin’s face, which was very close to hers, and was briefly frightened.

She moved her body, only to find that Xiao Jin was hugging her so tightly that she couldn’t break free even after struggling a few times.

Instead, her movements woke Xiao Jin up.

Xiao Jin’s eyes were a little reddish, and he only relaxed his grip gradually when he saw that Su Ying had woken up.

However, before he could speak, Su Ying said, “Xiao Jin, why are you hugging me? Let go at once.”

Xiao Jin furrowed his brows imperceptibly because of the displeasure on her face. Su Ying didn’t like him being in close contact with her. This realization made Xiao Jin feel very uncomfortable.

“You were injured and your whole body was cold. You kept snuggling into my arms. Do you think I want to hug you?”

Xiao Jin’s voice was slightly low as he released his grip and sat up.

Su Ying furrowed her brows and realized that she still felt somewhat weak. Indeed, she did not seem to be feeling well.

“Mother! Has Mother woken up?”

When the sky brightened slightly, the two little fellows impatiently ran to the room door.

The night before, Aunt Zhao was worried that the little ones would disrupt Su Ying’s recuperation, so she brought them to the room next door to sleep.

The little ones missed Su Ying so much that they came over the moment they woke up.

Su Ying propped herself up to sit up when she heard the voices of the two little ones.

Xiao Jin looked at her pale face and frowned. He reached out to support her. “Don’t touch the wound on your arm.”

Su Ying moved her hand and looked at her arm. The wound had been bandaged. It was an external injury at most and couldn’t have harmed her that much.

However, the wound did indeed contain poison, but she had clearly taken medicine that could block the poison, so how did she still faint?

“Mother, Mother, are you awake? Mother…”

Before Su Ying could figure it out, the sound of the two little fellows sobbing could be heard from outside the door. Su Ying could only compose herself and hurriedly let them in.

The moment the younger toddler Ling rushed into the room, she wanted to throw herself into Su Ying’s arms. The older toddler Ji quickly pulled her back.

“You can’t. Mother is still injured.”

Ling stared at Su Ying in wide-eyed innocence. Su Ying’s heart almost melted when she saw those big eyes that resembled a baby deer.

“My precious baby, come here. I’m fine. I was just a little sleepy yesterday, so I took a nap. I’m much better now that I’ve woken up.”

Although the little ones didn’t know much about poison, they could tell that Su Ying’s complexion was much worse than before.

“Mother, where does it hurt? I will blow on it for you. I will blow on it for you and it won’t hurt anymore, okay?” Ling said.

“Me too. I will blow on it for Mother too,” Ji chimed in.

The two little fellows pressed their heads in front of Su Ying and puckered up their tiny mouths to blow on her wound.

Su Ying looked at their puffed-up faces and couldn’t resist pinching their cheeks. Hmm, they’re getting chubbier. Not bad.

“Father, you can’t just sit there. Come here. Come here quickly and blow on Mother’s wound.”

Upon hearing this, the younger toddler Ling’s fair little face was also filled with earnestness. “That’s right. Father must also blow on the wound for Mother.”

“No need.” Su Ying rejected the offer without hesitation.

The older toddler Ji’s little face was particularly stern. “Does Mother not like Father blowing on the wound?”

Su Ying wanted badly to nod, but when she saw Ji’s expression, which looked as if he would cry if she so much as nodded, she shook her head in defeat. “How can that be? Mother likes Father the most.”

A bright glint flashed across Xiao Jin’s eyes swiftly, but his expression didn’t change in the slightest.

The older toddler Ji was a little unconvinced as he repeatedly asked her to confirm, “Really?”

Su Ying nodded with certainty. “Really. It’s more real than real gold.”

“Father, what are you doing? Hurry up and blow on it for Mother.” Ji instructed his father like a little adult.

Xiao Jin glanced at Su Ying. When Su Ying met his gaze, a peculiar feeling rose in her heart.

“Hurry up.”

Xiao Jin shifted his body and leaned closer to Su Ying. Then he placed his face close to her wound and blew on it.

“Alright. Father has blown on your mother’s wound. She’ll be fine soon.”

The two little ones finally smiled in satisfaction.

“Father, you’re awesome!”

“Mistress, you’re awake?” Aunt Zhao came to the door.

“Mm-hmm. I’m awake, Aunt Zhao. You can come in.”

Upon hearing Su Ying’s voice, Aunt Zhao pushed the door open and entered. When she saw Su Ying’s pale face, her eyes became red-rimmed.

“How did you get injured out of the blue? You have really scared me to death.” When Su Ying suddenly toppled over, Aunt Zhao’s heart was in her throat. She was afraid that something had happened to Su Ying.

“Mm-hmm. Maybe I’ve been too tired recently.”

Aunt Zhao also felt that Su Ying was too tired. She was doing all the work, so Aunt Zhao didn’t doubt her.

“Mistress, you can just leave the house building to Tian Mu and the rest. It’s fine even if you don’t do those tasks. You should rest well these few days and must not tire yourself out.”

Su Ying saw the concern in Aunt Zhao’s eyes and smiled. “I understand, Aunt Zhao.”

“I’ll get Old Hea to cook you some meat porridge later. You haven’t eaten anything since last night, so you must be hungry now.” Aunt Zhao stood up and pulled the two little ones over. “Young Master, you two follow me to wash your faces. You can come back to accompany Mistress later.”

The two little fellows responded obediently and followed Aunt Zhao out of the room.

As soon as they left, Su Ying furrowed her eyebrows.

Xiao Jin noticed the change in her expression and hurriedly asked, “What’s wrong? Do you feel unwell anywhere?”

Su Ying shook her head and removed the bandage on her arm, revealing the wound.

The few lines of scratch marks were red and swollen, and the black blood had already flowed out. The wounds didn’t look any different, but Su Ying still wanted to know why she had such a huge reaction.
