Emmeline bit her lip and turned her head, her eyes filled with icy tears.
Albus continued to complain. “We’re engaged, after all. Emmeline, you can’t always treat me like a
stranger. If something is bothering you, you have to tell me. You can’t keep me in the dark like this, or
people will mock us.”
Emmeline remained silent. She felt there was nothing to say to Albus.
“My mom wants you to come home for dinner,” Albus said. “She said she has something to discuss
with you.”
