THE NEXT MORNING

Athena woke up with the sound of a bird chirping and the bright sunlight coming from the open window

made her go blind..

Who opened the window? She remembers it being closed last night. She slowly sat up by leaning

against the headboard.

Was it Dominic?

She looked around to find the sight of him and found the room empty. She frowned a little seeing that.

As far as she remembers, he was here till the end of the night. She woke up once again at night and

found him sleeping beside her. He was sitting down but his head was kneeled down beside him, on the

bed.

She was lost at that moment, just like she is lost now. She didn’t know what to feel at that moment. She

didn’t know what to feel toward the situation, toward everyone and toward… Dominic.

She was in confusion and in defence. The defence was to save herself from feeling something stupid.

Because Dominic’s change of behaviour was making her feel weird again.

She knew she shouldn’t be feeling nice by what he was doing. But the way he was taking care of her

and even acknowledged her as his mate, that felt like getting the moon in her hands. Even though she

was still his rejected mate!

How desperate, insecure and weak she was!

Her defence was getting weak and her emotions were all over the place. That’s because of her wolf.

She couldn’t feel her wolf anymore which is why she was in a mess. She was a mess.

‘Can you hear me? Please reply once. Please. I am nothing without you. Please reply. Tell me what I

can d o to get you back. Please tell me. She requested but her request met the blank space in her

mind, making her sigh. She didn’t even feel like crying.

Her wolf was her only companion since forever. She was always there for her. Always. Maybe that be

in a moment when she was sad, her wolf would come and give a sassy response which would be

enough to make her smile. Or whenever she was in danger, they both fought it bravely together.

Now that she can’t feel her anymore, she felt like her soul left her. She feels empty inside. She

suddenly felt the air closing on her. She clutched the bed sheet tightly to get control over her sudden

anxiety. She felt suffocation. She needed help. She needed something which could make her feel

happy and normal again, She needed-…

“Mommy! Good morning!”

She jerked out of her thoughts at the sound of her son’s voice and she immediately felt at peace. She

felt her lungs getting filled with oxygen again and a smile came up on her face. She looked at Ace and

found him running toward her at full speed,

“Good morning, sunshine! Careful! Don’t jump!” She warned with a smile, knowing very well that it was

fruitless. Because in the morning, no one can stop energetic Ace from meeting his mother. He jumped

on the bed and then jumped in her open and welcoming arms.

“Mommy, I missed you.” He shouted in pure happiness which he got from being in her arms.

“I missed you too, baby. How are you?” She asked in a cute voice, mimicking him. He giggled seeing

his mom talking like that.

“I am good, mommy… How are you? You were hurt?” Ace’s happy face suddenly turned gloomy as he

remembered that. He doesn’t like to see his mom sad or hurt.

“Oh my, baby. I am not hurt. I am perfectly fine. See. Who told you that I am hurt?” Athena said in an

assuring and loving tone. She didn’t want her lovely son to be worried about her.

Ace was a lot smart for his age and she noticed that a long time ago when he started talking a lot

earlier than usual. He started walking at an early age as well. And it started coming out more and more

when he started to understand things around him when he was barely one and half years old.

He knew that he had to stay in their cell. He knew that he cannot make noise or create problems. He

knew that his mother worked hard all day so he couldn’t trouble her or demand for unnecessary things.

He never even demanded to know who his father was.

How good and obedient a baby can be to understand his mother’s unsaid words?!

Till now his only demand has been her presence and attention. But often she failed to give him that as

well. She was guilty for that. She hated herself because of that. But she didn’t have any choice…

“You aren’t hurt? I thought you were and that’s why aunt Suzy put me to sleep.” Ace said in a confused

tone, making Athena look at him in confusion as well. She gave him a confused smile.

“What do you mean, baby? She didn’t put you to sleep because of any reason. She put you to sleep

because it was your bedtime and I was busy, so I couldn’t put you to sleep. Hence she did that.”

Athena explained with a sweet smile but the confused look from her son didn’t go yet.

“But aunt Suzy always puts me to sleep whenever you are hurt.” He said in a confused yet confused

tone.

“What do you mean?” She asked with a frown.

“She always tells me that ‘mommy is hurt, baby. You need to sleep’. And I immediately fall asleep.

Magically.” Ace exclaimed with astonished eyes, making Athena really confused.

It’s not possible for her smart son to make up things. Then what’s going on?

“Are you sure Aunt Suzy did that?” She asked with a frown.

“What did aunt Suzy do, hm?”
