Can’t Point a Gun at Each Other
On the next day.
Elisa went to work as usual.
However, by now, malicious rumors had spread around the office.
Thomas intervened and curbed the spread of rumors. No one openly talked about it again, but they
stealthily exchanged looks.
Especially when they saw Elisa, they would give her a dirty look.
Elisa didn’t take their aggression to heart. She minded her own business.
She must bite the bullet. In any case, she was depravedly targeted in the workplace. There was work
and responsibility that had to be done. As long as Gareth believed her, nothing else mattered.
Although she had retaliated and denounced against Old Mr. Wickam that she would quit the
collaboration if he didn’t like it. But the truth was, if he terminated the contract, she would weep over the
hard work she had poured into the project.
Although she could replicate the project with Fu Group, it would be troublesome to do that.
Sly glances and cues were the modes of communication between colleagues throughout the day.
Some even whispered in private, but the silver lining was that they were civil enough to keep the gossip
out of the group chat. God knew if there was a snitch among them to tip them off with the bosses.
After work, Elisa received a call.
It was Will.
Elisa answered his call.
Will smiled and said, “Will you be free for dinner with me? I have drafted a proposal for our new project
with Benett Corporation. It’s badass. Would you like to take a look?”
Elisa frowned and said, “Sorry, but not today.”
Will didn’t force her and smiled again, “As a businessman, profit comes first. Are you sure you don’t
want to sneak a peek at this proposal? I’m sure Benett Corporation will hit it big with this project.”
Elisa hesitated. She knew Will wouldn’t joke about things like this. If he said so, then it must be true.
After contemplating, she said, “Let’s meet somewhere quiet.”
“Where exactly do you have in mind?” Will asked breezily. He was very accommodating.
Elisa deliberated and told him the place. Will obligated her choice. Then, they hung up the phone and
departed to the place Elisa had mentioned.
Elisa was relieved that Will didn’t wait for her at the office entrance this time. Yet, she knew Will
wouldn’t show up and be seen with her in public at a sensitive time like now.
If he waited for her at her office, it wouldn’t affect Gareth the slightest but strain himself because Elisa
would not hesitate to desert him.
Thirty minutes later, Elisa arrived at the said location.
She had a house in this residential area.
Restaurants and commercial places were too crowded, so Elisa met him at her house.
It was secluded and exclusive. They could steer clear of prying eyes and unwanted attention.
Elisa got off her car upon seeing Will’s figure. She opened the door and entered her house with Will
following behind her.
“Take a seat,” Elisa said as she sat on the sofa while Will chose to sit on the side.
He gazed at Elisa’s face and was amused.
“You won’t be so stressed if you’re with me.” He said.
Seeing Elisa furrowed, Will quickly explained, “I’m not saying about us being together romantically, but
as a working partner.”
Although he really liked Elisa, Will didn’t want to rub her the wrong way as he knew Elisa was a bit
touchy today.
