mission was called off. Your boyfriend talked to the Burke family himself and asked them to let you go,
so they did. Didn’t you know that?”
“My boyfriend?” Laney was stunned.
She paused for a while to put the pieces together. When it all clicked, she was very angry. She dropped
whatever she was doing and went straight to Garrett’s place.

He dragged himself out of the sofa and went to open the door. “Who is it? It’s so early—” But before he
could finish his words, Laney grabbed him by the collar and threw him into the living room.
Although she was short, she was strong. Laney pulled him up and pinned him down on the sofa.
“Garrett Harding, how dare you lie to me?!”
“I’m sorry,” Garrett said in a low voice. He knew that she must’ve found out the truth. He didn’t put up a
fight and just looked up at her sincerely.
He then lowered his eyes and muttered, “I lied because I really enjoyed your company and wanted you
to stay here longer…”
