63 The Scheming Song Ya
Song Ya glanced at Luo Xing and said to her, “Make me a cup of green tea. Thank you, Luo Xing.”
Although Song Ya was smiling as she spoke, she still handed the task of making tea to Luo Xing. Logically speaking, this was a task a nanny like Luo Xing should do. However, Xia Wan saw the unwillingness that flashed in Luo Xing’s eyes and the pride in Song Ya’s.
What sort of enmity could Song Ya and Luo Xing have between them?
With this doubt in her heart, Xia Wan did not say it out loud. She had always felt that the Zhou family was much more complicated than it looked, though Zhou Xiaorou could not feel anything.
No… maybe her body had been weak recently, and her head was clouded most of the time, causing her to lack the energy to feel it.
“Here’s your tea, Miss Song.” Luo Xing placed the brewed tea in front of Song Ya.
Song Ya nodded slightly, then looked at Xiao Rou and asked with concern, “Rou’er, how are you feeling? Getting any better?”
Zhou Xiaorou’s face looked slightly bitter, “It’s always been like this. I’m actually used to it, but I also want to spend more time with Xinxin.
Her loving eyes fell on the child in Li Yan’s arms. Luo Xing happened to smile at her and even opened her arms as if she wanted Zhou Xiaorou to carry her.
Zhou Xiaorou held the child in her arms, her eyes filled with gentleness.
Song Ya sighed and immediately looked at Xia Wan and asked, “How should I address you?”
“I’m Xia Wan.” Xia Wan said lightly.
“Miss Xia, since your grandfather is a village doctor, have you ever seen Rou’s condition? She’s always in a poor state of mind. I’ve been worried and consulted many doctors, but they all said they’d never seen this before.”
Song Ya asked, her face showing concern for Zhou Xiaorou.
Xia Wan smiled shyly. “Actually, I’ve heard Grandpa say that he treated a patient that had a similar situation to Sister Xiaorou.”
Song Ya’s eyes paused for a moment before they opened wide in surprise. “Really? That’s great. If Rou’er’s condition can be controlled, at least she’ll regain a little normalcy in her life.
“Well, it’s actually not too difficult. I’ve made some medicine for Sis Xiaorou to drink. It’ll stabilize her condition for now.
As she spoke, Xia Wan handed the medicine to Zhou Xiaorou. “Sis Xiaorou, I suspect you might have a diet problem. How about this? From now, you can only eat after the people around you have eaten.”
Her eyes flickered between Li Yan and Luo Xing, and she continued, “Your husband and the nanny are both in good health. Let them taste the food first. Remember, you have to have each of them, and it’s best if it’s water. If it’s made from the same teapot, each should have its own cup, and so should you. You should only drink it after you ensure they are both okay.”
“But Uncle Zhou is very old, and you shouldn’t let him do the tasting,” Xia Wan reminded Xiaorou.
Li Yan retorted unhappily, “What do you mean? Do you think there’s something wrong with the things in our house? Xiao Rou has been eating at home all the time, but the problem surfaced only recently. If what you said makes sense, why don’t we have any problems? Do you actually know how to treat illnesses?”
Zhou Xiaorou didn’t expect her husband to suddenly get angry, so she quickly tried to persuade him. “Honey, don’t be so mean. Xia Wan must have her reasons for saying that. Since we can’t find a cure, why don’t we listen to her?”
Li Yan snorted coldly. “What can she do? If she’s really that good, why is she dressed so shabbily? A village doctor is also a doctor. They can earn money too. Besides, how old is she? I know that the older one gets, the more one learns about Chinese medicine.
“Even if she’s been with her grandfather and has seen a lot, how much can she learn? I’m afraid she can’t even distinguish between medicinal herbs.”
Xia Wan merely looked at Li Yan quietly.
Meanwhile, Song Ya stayed silent on Li Yan’s poor attitude, simply watching the dispute from the side quietly.
This convinced Xia Wan even more that this woman was very scheming. Before she was sure of her strength, Song Ya would not speak easily.
If she spoke up for Li Yan now, she would be slapped in the face if Xia Wan turned out to be really capable. If she spoke up for Xia Wan, she would offend Li Yan.
So the best way was to say nothing, so nobody would be offended.
