Sweetheart
Clayton’s voice was deep and husky as he comforted Nicole.
“Don’t be upset. Why don’t you think about what gift you want to prepare for Kai?”
“Gift?”
“He’s with Ms. Nixon, so don’t you want to congratulate them?”
Nicole was blushing as her heart pounded.
“It’s not certain yet…”
Julie’s attitude was ambiguous. It was not at all clear what Julie was thinking.
Clayton laughed. “After this incident, it’s pretty certain.”
Nicole looked at him suspiciously.
“How are you so sure?”
“Shall we make a bet?”
Nicole asked, “Bet on what?”
Clayton lowered his head to look at Nicole with a smile.
“If you lose, can you cook a meal for me personally?”
Nicole was stunned. “That simple?”
Clayton chuckled.
Nicole suddenly felt a little guilty. She did not seem to have done such a simple request before.
From the moment they met until now, Nicole had only made Clayton a bowl of soup when he had a fever.
She nodded without even thinking about it.
“It’s a deal!”
Kai chased after Julie for so long without getting a response. Could it be that this time, Julie had finally
thought it through?
Julie had always been the more rational one.
Clayton tucked a strand of hair behind Nicole’s ear and looked at her with a smile.
“Go take a nap. I’ll make something for you to eat.”
Nicole nodded and looked at the time. “Remember to wake me up. I’ll go to the hospital again at night.”
Seeing that Clayton nodded, Nicole yawned and lazily walked to the bedroom.
The day’s fatigue suddenly surged. Nicole felt exhausted after a full day of continuous fear.
As soon as her head hit the pillow, she fell asleep.
Nicole woke up again from an aroma.
In a daze, Nicole felt her stomach growling.
She froze when she heard the lightened movements coming from her kitchen. ‘Has Clayton been
cooking here?’
Nicole quietly walked over and looked at the tall man who was wearing an exquisite black shirt. His
gentle demeanor was tinged with a noble asceticism.
His movements were slow but fluid, and he seemed to be checking the recipe from timet o time,
converging his eyebrows in serious thought. He also deliberately lightened his movements.
Clayton was also wearing a cute apron that formed a huge contrast for a moment.
His body seemed to be glowing, which lit up her life.
Nicole was momentarily dumbstruck.
She just stood there until Clayton was blocked from the light. He looked up at her and smiled.
“Why are you up?”
Nicole snapped back to her senses. She simply answered as if she had not heard his
question.
Clayton’s hand movements paused as he raised his eyes to look at her.
“Were you peeking at me over there?”
Nicole immediately denied it. “Of course not!”
