Chapter 1002: Protecting Our Jiaojiao (3)
After a bit of thought, the man said: "If you're sincere about discussing the medical bills with us, we will discuss that matter. However, you need to make sure that the people behind you won't hit us."
"I promise they won't. However, if you don't believe in my words, we can ask the police to come," Jian Yiling said.
The middle-aged man looked back at his family with some hesitation.
His family gave him a meaningful glance.
It was obvious that if the police came, it would be difficult to negotiate their compensation.
"Alright, I will discuss this matter with you," the middle-aged man said to Jian Yiling. Then, he said to his viewers: "Friends, for now, I will go offline. Later tonight, I will give you an update on the negotiation."
Then, the man closed his live stream.
"How do you guys want to talk about this?" the man asked. Now that he closed the live stream, his tone and posture were a lot more arrogant.
"Name your terms," Jian Yiling replied.
The man answered: "Well, because of this fall, my mother will spend at least a month in hospital. She also will be suffering from psychological damage. Therefore, my family must take time off to take care of her. And hence, this compensation must account for our lost wages and salaries. In addition to that, my mother may not be able to walk again. Long-term care will be necessary. After accounting for all these factors, the compensation amount will be at least a hundred thousand dollars. Naturally, this is under the assumption that my mother can recover within six months. If she can't recover within six months, there will be additional costs."
The man's wife added: "My mother suffered a lot. And hence, if you account for medical expenses and the cost of our lost wages and salaries, a hundred thousand dollars is still less!
However, in reality, the old lady merely fell. After an initial inspection at the hospital, the doctors declared that she had not even suffered a fracture. She merely had a few bruises on her body.
Although this was the case, the old lady was constantly crying out in pain. As a result, the hospital could only give her another checkup. As of now, the results were not yet available.
And thus, her family demanded a hundred thousand dollars as compensation.
No wonder the man wanted to turn off his live stream before they discussed compensation. He knew in his mind that if he declared such a price in front of his viewers, his viewers would definitely think that something was fishy.
"Alright. If you can bring me the evidence that my friend pushed over your mother, we will give you a hundred thousand dollars," Jian Yiling said.
The old lady's family was satisfied by the first half of Jian Yiling's reply. However, the latter part immediately made them unhappy.
"Evidence? What evidence do you need? My mother said it herself!"
"Yeah, my mother's mind isn't hazy! She clearly remembers that this little girl knocked her over!"
"Are you trying to push away your responsibilities?"
The old lady's family began to say things one after another.
"Just because you say something, it doesn't mean it's true," Jian Yiling replied calmly.
"If you don't want to give us compensation, tell us in the first place! Don't ask us about how much money we want! You're just trying to get out of this!"
"I just want evidence," Jian Yiling repeated.
"Everyone knows that there are no surveillance cameras in those alleyways. Furthermore, no one passed by! Where do we get evidence for you?" a woman retorted aggressively. The woman was one of the old lady's daughters-in-law.
"Then forget about it. You guys can contact the police," Jian Yiling replied.
She turned around to leave.
When the old lady's family saw this, they began to panic. Their one hundred thousand dollars was about to run away!
And thus, the old lady's family came forward and blocked the door of the ward. They did not allow Jian Yiling to leave.
"You can leave once you pay up!"
"What do you mean by this? Are you playing with us? A hundred thousand dollars is already a low sum! Are you not going to be responsible for this?"
The old lady's eldest son, a tall and strong man, blocked anyone from exiting the ward.
