Chapter 267 - What could she say? Copying is a culture of China. (1)

Mother Duoduo praised Feng Zeyu the entire time, to the point that even the person himself was starting to feel embarrassed.

“Sister-in-law, let’s eat soon so can head out. We have quite a bit to take care of back in City Nan.” He really wasn’t as good as Mother Duoduo was saying. He merely did what a man should.

“Alright.” He was already protective of her. It would seem like he was quite fond of her already. Mother Duoduo stopped praising about Feng Zeyu and started praising Shu Yan instead. “Look at you. How are you so skinny after having two children? Your skin is good too, fair and tender. How are you able to open up your own shop and make it profitable while having two children with you?”

“No… I…” Shu Yan was stumped from the praise and quickly shook her head.

“I am being serious. I have so much respect for you. I have a child as well but I have my father- and mother-in-law helping me out. You, it is already hard work to have two children and you opened up a shop of your own. How tiring that must be. Had it never occurred to you to have a partner helping you out with some of your load?”

The subject jumped around so abruptly that Shu Yan was having a difficult time following her train of thought.

“Sister-in-law, you are burning your food in the pot,” said Feng Zeyu as he called Shu Yan out of the kitchen. “Didn’t you say you need to give your employee a call? The signal isn’t great inside the house. You should make your call outside.”

“Oh… right. Let me go make a call.”

Shu Yan ran out into the yard and let out a sigh of relief. That was exactly why she said she wasn’t good with that kind of enthusiasm.

“She meant well,” said Feng Zeyu apologetically.

“I know. Just a little bit over the top is all.” Shu Yan called Zhang Huaxiu and let her know that she would not be back in the morning but would be in in the afternoon. When she returned, Mother Duoduo was enthusiastic as usually but she did not bring up anything personal again. Shu Yan gave Feng Zeyu a look. He had certainly said something to Mother Duoduo.

“I would like to go and get a job as well, but a good one is difficult to find.” Duoduo was getting older and their expenditure was also increasing. She had the compensation from her dead husband but those money was put away for Duoduo’s college tuition. She could not use them.

“If you have enough money, I suggest buying a house. You can earn some rent on the side everyone, which would for sure be higher than interest from a bank. Also, Duoduo will need a house when he gets married. You can either remodel the house then or sell it and buy elsewhere. Either way will be good options.” Shu Yan felt that buying houses was the best idea if one was not business-savvy.

Duoduo was only six-years-old this year and would not be graduating for over ten years from now. By then a house would be worth a lot. What cost 10,000 yuan today would be worth over 1 million yuan then. One would never get that much from a bank. It wouldn’t even make up the rent.

Doing the mathematics in her head, Mother Duoduo was tempted right away. Doing business meant a chance of losing money but not so if one was to buy a house. Take her sister for example, she bought a house uptown a couple of years ago for 80,000 yuan and it was not worth over 90,000. Not every many people even have raises like that.

Lunch was ready early and they started eating at 10 AM. They finished eating by 10:30 AM, rested for a little, and took off to head back to City Nan at 11 AM. They had no idea when Mother Duoduo got around to it, but she gave a lot of things to Shu Yan.

“These are all City Han’s specialties. They aren’t worth much. Take them back with you for the kids.” Mother Duoduo just put them into the trunk. She gave Feng Zeyu a stare when she noticed that he wanted to stop her. “Those aren’t for you. They are for Yanyan and her children.”

They spent ten or so minutes trying to turn her down but, finally, they accepted under her oozing enthusiasm.
