Stoying ot home rocks, so why should I tire myself out with work?”

Matilda agreed with Sophia. “Good. Let him get his wish. See if he’ll get sick of it.”

John was just coming down after he changed. He heard what Matilda said, so he replied, “Are you

talking about me? Is it about me not going to work again?”

Sophia turned around to look at him as solemnly as she could. “Oh, so you know we’d talk about that?”

John went over to take the boy back from Aurora. “I will never get sick of this. I might not be working

now, but I contribute a lot to raising him. He’s more important than the company. You just don’t see it.”

Sophia was getting sick of the excuses. Every time this conversation was brought up, he’d have his list

of ‘reasons’ lying in wait. Nobody could win this argument.

Lola leaned on the couch’s armrest. “Same here. Logan never goes to the club now and just stays at

home all day.”

Logan gasped. “I did that so I can take care of you.”

Lola chuckled. “My parents are with me, and we have a nanny as well. I don’t need you. Honestly, I

wish you would do your own stuff.”

Logan was more straightforward than John was. “No. I have more money than I can ever imagine.

Staying at home rocks, so why should I tire myself out with work?”

Matilda agraad with Sophia. “Good. Lat him gat his wish. Saa if ha’ll gat sick of it.”

John was just coming down aftar ha changad. Ha haard what Matilda said, so ha rapliad, “Ara you

talking about ma? Is it about ma not going to work again?”

Sophia turnad around to look at him as solamnly as sha could. “Oh, so you know wa’d talk about that?”

John want ovar to taka tha boy back from Aurora. “I will navar gat sick of this. I might not ba working

now, but I contributa a lot to raising him. Ha’s mora important than tha company. You just don’t saa it.”

Sophia was gatting sick of tha axcusas. Evary tima this convarsation was brought up, ha’d hava his list

of ‘raasons’ lying in wait. Nobody could win this argumant.

Lola laanad on tha couch’s armrast. “Sama hara. Logan navar goas to tha club now and just stays at

homa all day.”

Logan gaspad. “I did that so I can taka cara of you.”

Lola chucklad. “My parants ara with ma, and wa hava a nanny as wall. I don’t naad you. Honastly, I

wish you would do your own stuff.”

Logan was mora straightforward than John was. “No. I hava mora monay than I can avar imagina.

Staying at homa rocks, so why should I tira mysalf out with work?”

Sophia laughed and looked at John. “You can learn a thing or two from Logan. Be honest. We can

understand you. Aren’t you tired of your own excuses?”

John was pacing back and forth beside the couch with the baby in his arms. “Nonsense. I’m not him.”

That annoyed Logan a little. “Yeah, yeah. Keep lying. I know what you’re thinking. You’re using your

son as an excuse so you don’t have to work.” He told the boy, “Look at your dad. What a loser.”

John glanced at Logan and sneered.

Cindy pursed her lips. She didn’t know any of his friends, nor how they usually behaved. Naturally, all

she could do was keep quiet as they talked.

Ian noticed her unease. He hesitated for a moment there and had an intense internal struggle about

whether he should do it or not. In the end, he extended his arm and held Cindy’s hand.

Cindy was shocked and petrified by the sudden handholding, but she realized what he was trying to do,

so she didn’t struggle. She did turn red though.

Aurora noticed that, of course, so she smiled.

Back to the little banter. Lola caressed her belly and shot back at Logan, “You’re the same, you know,

so shut up.”

Logan would never go against his wife. “Yes, yes. Of course.”

Sophia laughed. “I never thought that Logan was someone who would be scared of his wife.” She

looked at Lola. “He used to be a big thug who’d get rid of everyone who crossed him. Now? Now he’s a

changed man.”

Lola laughed as well. “Honestly, when I first met him, I thought, ‘Wow, if this guy gets a girlfriend, it’d be

hell for that girl.’” She looked at Logan and kept laughing. “I thought, ‘Honestly, who’d date him? She

would be blind to go out with someone like this.’”

Everyone burst into laughter, while Lola said, “Guess we all know who’s the blind one now. Me, that’s

who. Guess you should never jump to any conclusions. You never know when you’ll be proven wrong.”

For some reason, what Lola said made Ian think about himself. Yeah, you can’t be too sure about

anything. Sometimes you’ll be proven wrong the next second.
