“Ugh...”
Arissa's complexion grew even more ashen as another wave of nausea washed over her. With an
empty stomach, each dry heave intensified her discomfort.
Seeing this, Benjamin swiftly turned on the tap and brought a fresh cup of water to her mouth. “Rinse
your mouth.”
Arissa's complexion remained ghostly pale. After a long while of feeling sick in her stomach, she finally
mustered the strength to accept the cup from Benjamin's outstretched hand, gingerly bringing it to her
lips to rinse her mouth.
Deep furrows etched Benjamin's brow as he observed her distress. With a gentle touch, his large hand
began caressing her back.
“Are you feeling better now?”
Arissa panted heavily, pausing for a brief moment to collect herself and alleviate the overwhelming
sense of discomfort. “Ugh...”
Once again, her features contorted in discomfort, her face scrunching up as she instinctively covered
her mouth with her hand.
“How are you feeling, Mrs. Graham? Are you sick? I'll call for the doctor!”
Darius had sent William over to assess the situation out of concern for Arissa's well-being. Upon seeing
the woman vomiting, her face pale and sickly, William instantly grew worried for her.
“No need... Ugh!” She frantically reached for the tap, her heightened sensitivity to even the faintest
scent driving her to take immediate action
Benjamin supported her. “Are you okay?”
“Help me to the sink.” At this point, she was weakened from the retching.
At her behest, Benjamin lifted her up into his arms and strode toward the sink. Tenderly, he set her
down, granting her the opportunity to wash her hands.
“I still think we should call for a doctor,” said William as he gazed at the couple with worry-filled eyes.
“It's fine, William.” Arissa stopped him. “I'm all right.”
“How can you be fine when you're throwing up like this, Mrs. Graham? I strongly suggest we have a
doctor examine you, just to ensure everything is as it should be,” William advised.
“It's best to have a doctor come and take a look at you,” Benjamin, too, persuaded her. At the same
time, he gave William a pointed look, urging the man to call for a doctor.
Arissa looked at him. “I'm fine. It's just morning sickness.”
Benjamin gently brushed away the strands of hair that clung to Arissa's damp cheek as he coaxed her,
saying, “Allowing the doctor to examine you will not only put our minds at ease but also ensure your
well-being. It's not healthy for you to continue experiencing these bouts of vomiting.”
“I think I caught a whiff of fish earlier,” she murmured. “I'll just be careful with what I eat.”
“Are you feeling any better now?” Benjamin inquired, his gaze fixed intently upon her, etched with
concern.
Arissa nodded. “A little. Could you get me a glass of water?”
“Okay. Take a seat first.” The man helped her sit down before spinning on his heel to grab her a cup of
water.
Darius had also come over to check on Arissa. Upon seeing his son, the older man asked, “How is
she? Did she catch a cold?”
“No, Dad. She's not sick. You should get back to your meal,” Benjamin urged.
Darius' brows knitted tightly together as he could hear her struggles all the way from the dining room.
“Why is she retching if she's not sick?”
Trailing closely behind Benjamin, Darius caught sight of Arissa, who appeared noticeably frail and
vulnerable. “Benjamin, how could you leave Issa in the bathroom? Lift her up and bring her out. It's not
ideal for her to stay there with the dampness, as she could easily catch a cold,” he instructed, his words
laced with concern.
“Dad, I'm fine.” Not knowing what else to say, Arissa could only reassure the old man to assuage his
worry.
Benjamin approached with a glass of water, offering it to Arissa. She gratefully accepted, taking a few
small sips that immediately provided relief.
Still concerned about her well-being, Darius queried, “How can you be fine when you're throwing up
this badly? Just look at how pale your face is. I don't believe you're fine at all.”
“Dad, she's actually not sick. She's pregnant,” Benjamin revealed, in an effort to diminish his father's
growing concern.
“Are you blind? Look at how pale her face is, and you're still insisting that she's not sick—” As Darius'
comprehension caught up with Benjamin's revelation, his gaze sharpened, fixing on Benjamin with
surprise. “Wait, who did you say is pregnant?”
With a darkened expression, Benjamin reiterated, “It's not a cold. My wife is experiencing morning
sickness because she's pregnant.”
Having heard it clearly this time, Darius widened his eyes in surprise.
Meanwhile, William, who had just gotten off the phone, happened to hear Benjamin's words as he
approached the father and son. A mixture of surprise and joy flickered across his face as he queried,
“Mrs. Graham, you're pregnant?”
Arissa acknowledged with a nod, a tinge of embarrassment crossing her face. had just come over to
Old Manor for a meal. I didn't expect the symptoms to manifest so soon.
“You scared me to death earlier, Mrs. Graham! I thought you had fallen ill or gotten food poisoning!”
The overwhelming joy enveloped both William and Darius, their faces reflecting the shared elation.
“Benjamin, bring your wife upstairs and ensure she gets the rest she needs,” Darius urged his son with
urgency.
