After Kingsley had ended his call, he abruptly saw the text from Benjamin, and his heart instantly
lurched.
He belatedly glanced downstairs before dashing back into the hospital room.
Noticing the terrified expression on his face, Shaun asked, “What's gotten you so scared?”
Kingsley darted his eyes to the man while the children swung their gazes at him.
“I was outside just now, answering a call,” Kingsley mumbled.
“We know!”
Pinning his eyes on the man, Jasper teased, “Don't tell me you saw something, Mr. Watts?”
With bewilderment written all over her face, Jesse turned to her brother. “What are you referring to?”
Jasper made a fluttering motion. Immediately, Jesse streaked over to Zachary and clutched his arm
tightly.
Zachary glared at Jasper.
However, the latter merely giggled.
“Boss scared me!”
Torn between laughter and tears, Kingsley brandished his phone.
He then continued, “I was probably spotted when I was answering the call earlier.”
Everyone went silent.
“Did my mommy see you too?”
Gavin widened his eyes, worried that Arissa had also caught sight of the man.
Looking down at him, Kingsley shook his head. “I don't know.”
At his reply, the corners of Gavin's mouth twitched. “What did my daddy say to you?”
“He asked if I was sick of living.”
Kingsley's lips pressed into a thin line. Gosh, Boss has quite the temper!
Shaun sniggered. “Indeed, you're sick of living. Benjamin has already texted you about it, but you still
went outside to take a call. Serves you right!”
“I forgot just now. Why didn't any of you remind me?”
Sheer ejection swamped Kingsley.
“We forgot, too!” the children retorted matter-of-factly.
That had Kingsley totally dumbstruck.
“You should be glad that Arissa doesn't know Tim has been hospitalized!” Shaun quipped, reckoning
that Arissa was unaware of the matter.
Otherwise, she would have been there in the ward by then.
“Arissa doesn't know? Why was Boss so angry, then?” Kingsley wore a speechless look on his face.
Shaun chuckled. “Perhaps he was the only one who saw you?”
Mulling it over, Kingsley felt that it might be the case.
Darius scanned his eyes over them all. “You should all be more careful. Try your best to keep this from
Issa, lest she worry.”
In response, the two men and the children nodded.
Subsequently, everyone quietened down. When Tim was done with his IV drip, they did not dare bring
him home at once.
Kingsley shot Shaun a look. “Make the call.”
Shaun eyed him, aware of his fear. “Do it yourself.”
Nonetheless, Kingsley naturally did not dare do so when he was already in hot water.
Turning to Gavin, he coaxed smilingly, “Call your daddy and ask him whether your mommy has gone
back to the hospital room, Gavin.”
“I don't feel like it.” The little boy pursed his lips.
Subsequently, Kingsley shifted his gaze to Tim. Since the latter was sick, he let him off the hook and
panned his eyes over to Zachary.
Harrumphing softly, Zachary snapped his head to the side.
When Kingsley came to Oliver, he smiled and cajoled gently, “Oliver, call your daddy and ask whether
they had gone back to the hospital room so we can go home.”
Otherwise, it'd be bad if we were to bump into each other.
Oliver blinked. “Sure!”
Kingsley's eyes lit up. But when he heard the little boy's ensuing words, he almost burst a blood vessel.
“Pay me.”
“Are you such a money-grubber?” Never had he expected Oliver to be so crafty.
“That's too bad, then.” Oliver shrugged, putting on a helpless expression.
On the verge of tears, Kingsley fixed his eyes on Jasper. The latter tactfully shook his head without
needing him to utter a word.
Unwilling to give up, he turned to Jesse.
“Jesse...”
Jesse's eyes were rounded as she stared at the man, looking incredibly adorable.
“I didn't bring my phone, Mr. Watts.”
Kingsley alternated his gaze between the children. In the end, he sought the help of Oliver, the only
person who agreed to help with payment.
“How much do you want, Oliver?”
Oliver held up a finger.
At that, Kingsley chuckled. “A hundred?”
That amount had Oliver roll his eyes. “What do you think?”
