Chapter 551: Dueling From A Distance

With the door halfway open, he could see the zombie’s appearance.

God knows how long it had remained behind that door. The zombie’s flesh was all dried up like whittled tree bark, and it was a dark greyish color. Thanks to the layer of white hair that covered its body, it had an even more frightening appearance.

It was not clothed. Even if it was wearing clothes back then, they likely would have been decomposed long ago by the dense death aura.

Even at first glance, Lin Jin knew just how dangerous and horrifying this zombie was, so there was no time for hesitation. He raised an arm and slapped Shu Xiaolou’s ink stamp onto it.

Once the ink stamp adhered to the zombie’s body, a bundle of ink immediately spread out.

Shu Xiaolou, who was waiting inside her painting realm sensed this and she acted immediately.. With her slender fingers, she invoked a spell and the zombie was immediately sucked into a whirlpool started by the black ink.

It disappeared without a trace.

“No!”

Corpse Taoist finally came to his senses. He had caught a vague glimpse of the person behind the other door who didn’t seem to look like his master. Although that person was also wearing a mask, it wasn’t his master’s ‘Dao’ mask.

They differed in their physique too.

Since that person wasn’t his master, Corpse Taoist had no reason to be afraid, especially after he realized that the zombie body he had painstakingly cultivated for five hundred years was being ‘kidnapped’ by that person.

Corpse Taoist flew into a fit of rage.

“Give me back my body!” roared Corpse Taoist. He raised a hand, condensing a huge claw with death aura, and reached for the person on the other side. He was out for blood, so whoever was unfortunate enough to be grabbed by his claw would die instantly.

Lin Jin immediately sensed danger but he had a counter for such attacks.

While he had no idea who his assailant was, since he had decided to attack Lin Jin without warning, he wouldn’t hold back his punches either.

“Dragonfire!”

Lin Jin invoked a fire seal and blew gently. A jet of flames was sent forward.

Lin Jin’s latest version of Dragonfire was unlike before because he had added phoenix flames into the mix. Now, it should be called Dragon-Phoenix Fire instead.

Without the use of his hand-crafted fire amulet, Lin Jin still couldn’t mix exotic fire into this spell. Otherwise, his counter-attack would have been even more potent.

Even still, this spell of his wasn’t something the average person could fend off. Moreover, these flames had a purifying effect, so other attributes couldn’t begin to compare to this. Even death auras couldn’t withstand incineration.

In an instant, the flames smashed into the Phantom Claw, which was condensed out of death aura. The clash caused an explosion of energy.

The resulting shockwave far exceeded both parties’ expectations so Lin Jin and Corpse Taoist were equally stunned. Both backed away following the impact. Simultaneously, both wooden doors slammed shut.

Despite this, death aura and flames continued to pour out on both sides.

Lin Jin quickly backed away. Thankfully, the Visitation Hall seemed to possess the energy to subdue the overflowing death aura, wearing it out.

However, Corpse Taoist wasn’t so lucky on his end.

Not only was he pushed back quite a bit from shock, some flames even got onto his clothes.

The problem with this was the fact that his outfit was made of paper. Even if his outfit had been enchanted, paper was still paper – they burned incredibly easily.

Hence, what followed was a series of panic.

Dragon fire mixed with phoenix fire couldn’t be easily put out. Upon seeing this, Black Envoy hurried over to help put out the fire. Fortunately, Corpse Taoist was no ordinary man. He was an expert who had lived for more than five hundred years now. With a pool of strange and tainted blood, they finally managed to extinguish the fire.

Despite that, half of his paper robes had been burned away. It was a humiliating sight to behold.

“Ah! Ahhh!!” Corpse Taoist let out a ghastly roar. He was going insane with anger. Truth be told, he didn’t actually mind the damage done to him. Heck, he wouldn’t even care if White Envoy’s zombie body was burned away.

What he cared about was the abduction of the zombie body he had been cultivating for several hundred years.

Anybody would be just as infuriated if they were in his shoes.

Corpse Taoist began to vent his frustration by slaughtering the demonic appraisers around him. Fortunately, he still recognized Black Envoy as valuable so his killing frenzy didn’t reach Appraiser Yan.

However, quite a number of unimportant subordinates were sacrificed. Their bodies were sucked dry of blood, and they died horrible deaths.

After venting his frustration, Corpse Taoist calmed down.

He spat out a bloody mist and the mist condensed into the image of a man wearing a beast-pattern mask.

“Investigate him! Find out who this person is! I want him to die a graveless death!” commanded Corpse Taoist. The murderous intent was audible in his voice.

Appraiser Yan’s expression changed slightly after glancing at this silhouette.

Something so subtle couldn’t possibly escape Corpse Taoist’s eyes.

“Black Envoy Yan, you seem to have a clue as to who he is?” asked Corpse Taoist menacingly. Startled, Appraiser Yan quickly bowed and said, “I have indeed heard of this person before. If I’m not mistaken, this person may be the increasingly popular Curator.”

“Curator?” Corpse Taoist mumbled quietly before pondering in silence.

Make no mistake that no matter who it was, whoever dared to rob away his zombie body was an unforgivable enemy. There was no room for mercy. He had to get his zombie body back.

However, he still faced a major question.

How did that Curator enter his master’s secret realm?

Corpse Taoist couldn’t figure it out. He had once asked his master, Daojun, and the latter answered that only those who possessed a numbered wooden token could enter that space.

“Could this Curator be one of the token holders?”

Corpse Taoist had a colorful imagination. Although he was merely a soul and psyche deposited into an amulet, that evidently did not obstruct his ability to think.

Right now, he had three numbered tokens under his possession but he still couldn’t enter that realm. He could only open up a passageway by force. He tried bursting in but the consequences had been severe.

Thus, he gave up on that idea and decided to use it as a space to cultivate zombies.

“Wait, if that Curator could enter Master’s secret realm as he pleased, doesn’t it mean he has obtained Master’s secret? Perhaps he is the next Daojun?” A fear-inducing suspicion came to Corpse Taoist’s mind.

He definitely wouldn’t allow that to happen.

After plotting and scheming for so many years, the secret realm his Master left behind had always been his goal. If someone else just came and harvested his years of effort, he would never rest in peace.

“Investigate Curator’s movements. I want to meet this person. He has to return my body, and if he doesn’t, I will make this land bleed,” threatened Corpse Taoist.

Appraiser Yan’s heart started racing.

He was considered to be Corpse Taoist’s disciple and had gained authentic knowledge from him, thus the reason for his incredible capabilities. Along the way, he also managed to learn from Corpse Taoist endurance and deceit.

After all these years, Appraiser Yan had never seen Corpse Taoist in such a horrible temper.

Great trouble might be brewing.
